Thanks for this video; you sold me on the Track Pro a couple months ago. I replaced the ez-lift with the chains that came with out trailer and the blue ox provides such a better towing experience. Not to mention how much quicker it is to connect and disconnect. I definitely don't miss messing with the anti-sway bar.
Looking forward to the rest of the reviews. In addition to what you showed us, I was expecting video of the hitch and camper as you were towing and your reactions while towing along the same route for each hitch. I know wind is unpredictable, but video while driving a route with different speeds, road conditions, hills, etc. would be fairer to the manufacturers. Quality, ease of installing, ease of use, etc are all important but the most important thing is, which one will be best at keeping my family safe while driving to the campsite. Love your channel. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feedback. Keep in mind all of these hitches will get scored in the end and most of what you’ve brought up will be part of that score. I didn’t do the “let’s strap a GoPro to the bumper and watch the hitch as it’s rolling down the road” video because it’s been done to death and quite frankly you can’t tell what’s going on anyway. Its a cute shot but unless a huge gust of wind were to hit me not much could be seen. The main goal for this battle is how well they stack up AGAINST each other. I simply thought a quick review vid for each one would also be appropriate. I appreciate you watching and keep the feedback coming. It certainly helps.
I have the TrackPro. So far I love it. Yes you feel the wind but its very minimal and the RV recovers very quickly. The purposing in my experience has to do with the bars. I had the 1000 pound at first and changed to the 1300 pound bars and it went away.
What was your hitch weight?
We have the TrackPro and have been very happy with it so far. We use it with our Transcend Xplor 265BH and our 2011 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. We've put just over 600 miles so far on it this year on trips and I have been very surprised on how well it does. I look forward to seeing the other hitches and how they compare.
Blue Ox definitely upped their game over the SwayPro
Can wait to see what you think about the equaliser hitch I love mine.
I can tell you from my experience that once you use the pro pride you will never want another hitch again. I used that hitch when I was pulling a very long trailer and it was incredible. The engineering alone is amazing. The only drawback to that is the price. You pay a lot of money to eliminate sway. In very strong Crosswinds I could see the front of the trailer moving slightly back-and-forth. But I could never feel it in the truck. Mind you this was an F150 and the Truck was on a little light side for what I was towing.
Great series on hitches and looking forward to the results. If I may add two data points of interest to me are lower weight and if the truck tailgate can fully open while hooked up. Performance (anti-sway, anti-porpoising, weight distribution) trumps those points but then the lightest hitch saving on payload should win and tailgate down is just so convenient.
I’ll be taking these type of points into consideration! How is it to live with basically. Thanks for the advice. Keep it coming!
Looking forward to watching the hitch battle and seeing the results.
Should be fun!
Nice video series you have going on these hitches. I bought the Curt Tru Track after watching your video on it. Really happy with it so far, and I love how beefy it looks in comparison to alot of other hitches out there. 👍
Tough to beat the Curt for the $$
Great review, I had been wondering what the difference might be to the sway pro. I see I'm not the only one focused on the mudflaps. I look forward to your truck build video. I'm getting too many dings in the front of the trailer. Seems like I carry half the parks gravel home in my tires.
Thanks for a great review of this WDH. I currently use the Blue Ox Sway Pro WDH and find it works great with my 6000 lb GVWR TT. Maybe I should look into purchasing this updated Blue Ox?
The one big disadvantage of the Propride 3P system is the weight of the receiver....... it weighs 195 lbs! For a typical half ton pickup truck setup, that can be the kiss of death when factoring in payload.
Good video, but I haven’t seen anything to get me to change from my Equalizer setup in the same price point. My Equalizer seems to be a little more beefier over all. Thanks for bring different products to us.
WeighSafe is next then the Equalizer!
I was just going to ask when you were going to do the weigh safe. Interested to see how that one does.
@@WanderingWeekends I'm using the 20K Weigh Safe with my Reflection 315 (11,300 GVWR) and F-250 (7.3, 4x4). I've had problems with the hardware (stripped threads on socket bolts, broken socket, etc) and have mixed feelings about the hitch overall. Interested to see what you think of it.
I have a Blue Ox Sway Pro and like it except the porpoising issue you mentioned.
I would strongly encourage you with each hitch when you have issues with performance to reach out to the company and or owner community looking for ways to resolve the issue. Some hitches just need a bit of tuning to be their best and it would be a shame if an issue you were having that could have been resolved affects the final outcome.
I agree some hitches need tuning... and this one was no different. I had to adjust the saddles after our first trip to get it dialed in. Otherwise no real issues. The uneven bars I found a bit odd but it really didn’t effect performance only unhooking. I’m not sure there is anything one could do to correct that small glitch. I think this is a good hitch especially if moving it around is a concern.
I decided on the blue ox track pro. I had an ezlift with the chains. In my opinion the track pro far superior so far. One trip down and trailer is tracking well. I was wondering how it would handle going 65 down the interstate with passing semi trucks. Trailer 26dbhl.
People and reviewers talk about a “big” trailer. I have a Grand Design 30G (34’ total length) toy hauler. Trailer weighs (loaded with a Goldwing trike = my “toy”) 10,480#s with a tongue weight (TW) of 1800#s. Since the ProPride was briefly mentioned, I can tell you I have one and it has a 1400# TW limitation and can not transfer enough weight for me to get the front axle (steer axle) back to a good steering. ProPride makes a very good product but its very heavy and very expensive. The hitch I have is the 2nd I’ve purchased. The first one I still use on a different and smaller enclosed work tool trailer and it works perfectly. On my new toy hauler I think I’ve just reached their maximum weight limits. Beware toy hauler owners.
That’s why I’m looking at your review - Blue Ox states 20K #s total trailer weight and 2000 #s TW on the SwayPro. The TrackPro doesn’t seem to have the upper spec weights that I need, so I’m likely to try the SwayPro unless I’m missing something.
I am so thankful you are doing the Summer Hitch Battle. You are making me a more informed consumer without the work or expense. Let’s be careful and not stumble over our words speaking to quickly and mistakenly calling this a “Bitch Battle” or a “Hitch Bitch”. 😜
Oh no, now I have put that in your ear! Looking forward to the next episode.
Hey maybe that’ll help the subscriber count go up! 🤣😂🤣😂
I ordered my Airstream and as you know, Airstream recommends Blue Ox sway pro over the TrackPro which is crazy. Blue Ox says the Sway pro is their Premium and has more Sway Control than the Track PRO! They also say use the 1000 pound bars. What pound bars were you using? I am wondering if that had something to do with it how your Sway pro performed because 550pounds is standard with thoughts if you did not order the bar separate. Blue Ox also said the TrackPro doesn’t do as well is the rain because rain reduces the Friction on the bars…. Now I’m really confused! 😂
I'm looking forward to the 5 hitches you review. Could you maybe include what the hitches typically retail for? For many of us that is a big interest, or at least for me it is. I currently use a Husky Centerline which I think is the cheapest and I have the same issue with the right side bar being just a bit lower than the left. Annoying, but you can adjust for that in the saddle by dropping 1 bolt hole.
Yes! We will include all hitch prices for sure.
I’m thinking one of two trunion bar heads was installed upside down, maybe at the factory. The bars should be at the same angle when unloaded, otherwise the weight on the saddles won’t match when you hook up.
You could be correct. I know the bars themselves were both installed “notches up” as required.
You know it would be easier to just get a fifth wheel! Just kidding great video!
Ha! No way!!
@@WanderingWeekends I agree with Blake. Lol
🤣😂
Just returned this model to the rv dealer. First pull home off the lot and the passenger side bar nearly came loose due to a very poorly designed pin clip. Reset it and brought it right back and as I pulled in to the lot, she let loose. They made adjustments. Got home again (city streets, 1.5 miles). Issue repeated in that time. No thanks.
I’ve tested multiple hitches at this point. Blue Ox products are my least favorite for sure.
@@WanderingWeekends I honestly couldn’t believe how quickly it failed…even after an adjustment, failed again. All in around 5 miles of total driving in town roads, no hills, couple left’s and rights…failed twice
Hi Corey! Questions not related to the hitch...I just noticed your Jack pad on your tongue Jack. Where did you get this?
That is a SnapPad! Here you go: rvsnappad.com/
I have the Husky Center Line TS and it is amazing. I don’t know if it is on your list but would love to hear your thoughts on it.
I haven’t used the Centerline hitch. 😕
What is the brand of mud flaps on your F250?...i assume its a rock deflector also ?...show it to us!....😎
Luverne makes them. Thus far I really like them! We are doing a mild build on the truck. I’ll show them off in that vid!!
How do you like the mud flaps on your truck? Been looking at some. That would be a cool review video! Happy camping!
I love them... I feel like an old geezer for saying that but I don’t care. Function over form. We’re doing a mild build on the truck and we will cover them in that vid!
@@WanderingWeekends You are not a old geezer yet , wait till the kids come home from college and ask mom "where's the old man at " . Plugs .
You didn't mention if the Blue Ox has a noise issue like the Equalizer hitch and other brands.
Any of the friction type hitches will make some noise. If the noise is unusually loud the bar heads on the hitch may need a shot of grease. Otherwise the noise let’s you know they’re working. After seeing the performance difference between a chain type hitch and a friction type hitch I’ll happily deal with a little noise.
I am curious why you rate the track pro over the sway pro? I am in between campers at the moment and let my sway pro go with my previous camper. I personally had little to no issue with the sway pro but that is all I know, I am open to the idea of a different hitch setup but really curios about track pro vs. sway pro since you have used both.
Easier to hook up and better performance from the track-pro. Much better experience in my opinion.
Thanks for the video! I noticed you Luverne "Mud Flaps", did you do a review on them?
Not yet but we certainly will!
I went with SwayPro. Best.
I gotta be straight with you. I’ve tested 6 hitches now and the SwayPro was my least favorite… by far actually. I thought I was happy with it until I started using the friction type hinges. Maybe it’s just me.
@@WanderingWeekends interesting. What’s your setup? Truck/trailer/etc?
Can you test these in all weather conditions please? Rumor has it that Track Pro performance declines when wet reducing friction.
Track or Sway Pro?
Did the Sway Pro Porpoise?
I like the chains of the sway pro as it seems it would be easier to hook up if not 100 straight on?
Thoughts?
Thanks
I’d go TrackPro all day. Now that I’ve tested more hitches the SwayPro is now my least favorite. Porpoises more than any of the ones I’ve used and while the chains seem simple they’re more of a pain as well.
@@WanderingWeekends
Thanks for your input
Kinda ironic that the Track Pro is a significant less to purchase as well.
Thanks again, happy travels
@@WanderingWeekends
Well per your recommendation (and others) I ordered the BXW1350 this am (while camping on Lake Hartwell) got 10% off n free shipping!!
Great review !!
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching!
Nice, looks good
I'm currently buying a travel trailer. My dealer only sells the Husky Centerline. They charge a little over $800 installed. What do people think about that? If you were me would you get that hitch or drive home (about 45 miles) without a weight distribution hitch and get a different one somewhere else?
800 seems steep. I’d buy one and bring it with me when you take delivery of the trailer. If they won’t install it because you didn’t buy it there I wouldn’t give them my business.
@@WanderingWeekends Thanks for the info. A good part of me already doesn't want to give them my business because I don't like the salesman. This is the floorplan my wife wants. If I buy it further away, I can't find anyone around who would do warranty work.
So, does this also have built in sway control similar to the Curt 17500 TruTrack? I didn't see that explained.
Yes, all of the hitches we’re reviewing will have integrated sway control.
We were at Blue Ox's HQ this summer and asked about the Track Pro. We have owned a Sway Pro for a number of years. I find it interesting you consider the Track Pro a better hitch. Blue Ox considers the Sway Pro their premium hitch. One reason any friction WD hitch is susceptible to changes in friction (rain water, dirt/dust) that can change to less friction while the Sway Pro is unaffected by dirt or water.
The comparison of the Sway Pro vs any friction WD has to take into consideration the susceptibility of any friction hitch to anything that can "lubricate" the contact surface. That includes water (rain, snow, slush, puddles, etc), dirt/dust, oil (from road surface, leaking fluids from vehicle, or wear. From what I've seen and heard in your brief pro and con video is nothing about that.
I can say at this point I’ve used several friction hitches in the rain. I haven’t noticed a difference. Of 6 hitches the SwayPro came in last. Performance isn’t up to par with the friction styles and the cam saddles (even though they look cool) really are a pain to deal with compared to the bars. I have to assume it is the chain design. Either way I’d go friction hitch regardless of brand.
I called BlueOx since I had the same questions as you and this was very interesting. I ordered my Airstream and as you know, Airstream recommends Blue Ox sway pro over the TrackPro which is crazy. Blue Ox says the Sway pro is their Premium and has more Sway Control than the Track PRO! They also say use the 1000 pound bars. I was wondering how many pound bars was Wondering Weekends using in this video? I am wondering if that had something to do with it how @wandering Weekends experience since Sway pro performed 550pounds is standard if not ordering the bar separate.
My blue ox trackpro L brackets tilt forward under use. They are mounted on an airstream tongue in the closest hole but there is a a gap that allows the bracket to cant forward under use. Is there any way to shim this? Any other solution I should try?
I have been using the TrackPro and it is hard to release the spring bars, especially the passenger side. I have to jack up the hitch to max height and muscle it off. Any suggestions on making it easier?
I had the same problem. I may reach out to BlueOx.
We have the same 2800BH. Have you ever determined your tongue weight?
Just over 900lbs... empty tanks.
can u backup with it hooked up
Yes
Which snap pad did you get for your jack and do they sell only one or do you have to buy a set
They sell them single on amazon.
@@santini1953 ok thank you
Moral of the story, buy the Blue Ox if you like porpoises.
For the record, I still have no idea what porpoising is.
Rear end of the truck looking like a dolphin swimming
@@WanderingWeekends so essentially it's ineffective as a sway control?
Sway Pro good to 20k trailers, Track pro only good to 13k……. Big disadvantage
Maybe… but the TrackPro outperforms the SwayPro on a 7500lb trailer… I wouldn’t dream of using a SwayPro on a 20k’er
