Say what you will about him as Batman, but he absolutely nailed it as Bruce Wayne.
He did nail Bruce Wayne pretty damn well. His batman was meh tbh.
@@cngotham4111I mean, he LOOKS like what a young Bruce Wayne is supposed to look like. So at least he got that part down.
Robert Pattinson gives me Nightwing, adult Dick Grayson vibes.
Spot on. Out of all Batman movies that have been released so far, Bale is definitely the best Bruce Wayne.
He's best batman we had outside of the 90s cartoon batman voice
Agreed, very similar to when Val Kilmer had the role
Ask a whole generation and we will tell him, he's our Batman, forever and always!
Yet the next generation will tell him Batfleck is our Batman, forever and always. Just like Keaton is the 80s generation Batman
Born in 2000 grew up watching his trilogy. He's most certainly not my batman. The one and only true batman is Kevin Conroy. Then form live action it's Michael Keaton.
@@bofawhatsbofa4593batfleck was most certainly the best looking batman but his scrips sucked ass. I'm a 2000s kid and for live action so far it's Michael Keaton.
Christian Bale is also my Batman, 100% with u there! Will never be anyone better than him!
His batman and Keatons made my childhood
Fun fact: before he was Batman, he was a singing dancing News boy.
Actually he was Patrick Bateman
went from being one of the newsies to patrick bateman to batman
He was also a Hitler Youth
I believe Bale was under consideration to play Robin at one point...
I love newsies so much
We still like him as Bateman however.
Batman? More like *Bateman amiright
@@steverogers2732I laughed so hard bruh 😭😭
As Bale himself said once, "The thing about Batman is that his villains are always more interesting than him.".
Which is interesting because in the animated shows Batman is always the best. Specifically in “The Batman”
Bale is plain wrong, batman is an incredibly interesting character. The dark knight trilogy just didn't do him right.
I disagree. Batman is universally loved because The Batman is a complex and interesting character.
@@Someertyuagreed. Batman in that trilogy felt like more of a plot device than a person. I mean that in the sense that he felt hollow.
truth
He was just amazing as the batman, the Joker was written in a way that, it creates conflict, which lead the role to be so iconic. It's what the plot demaded at that time.
Well of course the villian is going to create conflict thats the whole point of a villain.
He is my generations Batman 100%, he got plenty of recognition, Heath Ledger may have overshadowed him a bit in the 2nd one purely because of his tragic death after such a fantastic performance, but I would say in 1 and 3 he got the most attention I felt, such a legend! Can’t even debate that!
No. Ledger's performance stands on his own. It's not overhyped because of his death.
People have problems with seeing accurate picture of themselves even when they don't do anything special. Imagine how difficult it must be for worldwide famous actor.
What's your point here
You might be overthinking about this but seriously what are you trying to say
@@assassin8636lmfao Im confused to but I want to know now!!
@@assassin8636 Uhh... don't mind me. Bale good.
@@assassin8636he's tryna say u ain't worth sh#t mate
"Liam got more attention" I forgot the mf was in the movie 💀💀
As Batman you really aren't supposed to overshadow the villains. The character needs to overcome the surprise of a villain with superior forces and surprise on their side
Bale, Keaton, and Conroy were all phenomenal Batmans.
All the batman's couldn't pull of the iconic character the only one that I think did a great job was Christian bale but dany davido did a great penguin and I like both jokers Heath ledger being the better one but I wonder if Jack Nicholson had those writers and director how he would have done rather than tim Burton
@@Joe_has_seen_hellDo you know who Kevin Conroy is?
@@anubis8586 thank you couldn't think of his name
Keaton is still *My batman* til this day. But I love Conroy (of fucking course) and I loved Bale as Bruce/Batman.
@@blackdogbrownI agree with u
He's the reason Batman didn't die, atleast on film. But he also changed not just the perception of the superhero genre, but movies in general. They became darker, more realistic. Take Casino Royale, RDJ's Sherlock Holmes, hell even the MCU. None of these would've probably happened without Bale and Nolan.
I feel like Conroy is the best Batman of all time, everyone else is just borrowing the cowl for a while
Only talking live action. Voice acting doesn’t count and is only half a performance
This is the greatest Batman of all time

Greatest mix of batman and Bruce but pattinsons Batman is the best
@@user-ly7fp7dt8u personally I prefer Bales bruce and Batman but I think Pattinson nails the role,if he evolves he will be really really great.
@@user-ly7fp7dt8u I like Robert Pattinsons Batman a lot, but Christian Bale is one of my favourite actors so naturally I'm a little biased
Every time people make fun of a actor for playing batman they always become the best ones. (Pattinson, bale...etc...)
I really like his portrayal in Batman Begins. Origin story for this Batman is top tier. No one can top it.
Man I love those movies, I always tried to watch them with my older brother when I was a kid.
Bro is the ultimate sigma 🔥
@@johnprotagonist7296relax I was joking
@@johnprotagonist7296no he didnt lol that was a fake article, he doesn’t know what a sigma is
but he did wear makeup and dress girly which 6 year old “sigmas” would hate
and he does hate patrick bateman as a character
@@yoyo_testt I'll be damned i fell for it. Thx for clearing that up. Also those are good points that would represent his opinion on those kind of people
@@danuostret1900 ya never know. I have seen too many people who actually believe that stuff. Even outside the internet
Villains are typically the more interesting characters. I was fine with Bales portrayal. Not “the best” I guess but more than anything he gave us the batvoice which is so undeniably iconic now and what we should really praise him for.
He’s an incredible talent, in every roll he is in. And was a great Bruce Wayne / Batman. I hope he knows how many folks truly love his work.
while he isnt the greatest batman to me, he is the greatest for many people. He also revived the character and paved the way for potential actors who want to apply their take to the batman character. also his batman voice is iconic as fuck, whether people like it or not
I liked his performance as both Batman and Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins.
He was awesome as Batman and I do find it disturbing that people are often more fascinated by villains.
Why disturbing? Tbh i loved his wayne but didnt really like his batman. Thats not a performance issue per say but i just didnt like how christopher nolan's concept of batman. Didnt like the suit especially the cowl, didnt like the voice, didnt like the fights. But still tdk is still my favorite
if only bale knew how much we love him in the DK trilogy, most people’s favorite bruce Wayne for sure and left one of the best comic book performances behind
I like a badass good guy.
I love badass bad guy.
A great hero needs a great villain to challenge them. That makes the triumph and story more compelling.
Hes definitely my favorite live action batman. I think he did a fantastic job.
THANKYOU!
Even Christian Bale himself agrees.
He is a phenomenal actor and even I'm the role in The Dark Knight Trilogy.
The issue is that the direction with his character was completely wrong.
It didn't feel like Batman.
This is why many people myself included agree that Robert Pattinson is a phenomenal Batman. Because the movie actually makes him the one who takes the spotlight and males him feel like Batman.
I would say to Christian Bale that those villains were only able to shine and be memorable because people bought into his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne. He’s the anchor, the foundation upon which everything else is built. If the performance of your Batman isn’t rock solid, everything else around it crumbles.
none of the movies work without him
I loved Christian bale as Batman I even got his trilogy on blu ray with the collectors edition of tdkr
What makes a great hero is a great villain. If the villains are great and compelling it makes you want the protagonist to win.
He is a generations Batman and has the best villains opposite him. They elevate each other.
Both Bale and Nolan knew that the villians were more important to the films than Batman himself.
That said, if you look at everyone that played Batman before or since, he still rates pretty highly, and I think he was the best Bruce Wayne.
Personally, I think Bale's Batman/ Bruce Wayne is noteworthy because he brought a level of humanity and nuance to the character that we'd never seen on the big screen.
Batman Begins made me buy into the character of Bruce Wayne and what he's supposed to be all about. That's mainly due to Bale's performance.
I agree with exactly what he said. Batman's villians, especially in Nolan's movies.. were always meant to be the real captivators. Batman himself plays a straight and simple role, effective though.
My top 3 is
1. Affleck
2. Pattinson
3. Keaten
Bale would probably be 4-5
Because there actually low key remind arkham games batman which is the best
@@Donbros yup
Just wondering, if Bale is no 5, who would be above him, no 4?
@@azrael_morningstarif you are including everything then Kevin Conroy would be number 1
@@arinhossain2100 only live action.
So Kevin is up there but only as the CW Crisis on infinite earths version
I remember Nolan Batfans on IMDB talked shit about Tim Burton for having the villains steal the show and Batman was a guest star when Nolan did the same thing. I'm glad Christian Bale finally addressed this.
I like Christian bale performing as Bruce Wayne and dark knight. A real lone wolf.
I loved him as Batman, sure Heath is still the perfect Joker and Liam was an amazing Ra’s but I’ll never say any of the cast was bad or didn’t do as well as the others, they all poured what they had into these roles and I still love every second of all three movies
He’s actually a pretty nice guy
I sold him a Xmas Tree and gave me a nice tip this was pre-COVID and I was working in Pacific Palisades, CA for the YMCA there
Chris O’donell lives there and Michael Keaton so 2 Batman’s and a Robin live in Pali 😂
That is. The truth the villain has to be more compelling than the hero for the story to work there is over familiarity with the hero as he is always the one who returns so being a one shot the villain demands more attention
He's the first batman I've seen when I was a kid and the one who got me hooked on superhero movies
Poor Christian, makes me sad when people I look up to feels sad with themselves when they deserve to be happy with themselves
He’s the best batman actor. My personal favourite
The Dark Knight trilogy are the greatest Superhero movies ever Made.
If Batman is done correctly, then the villains are the most interesting part. They are the balance/compliment to Batman and help him to look like a hero and not a vigilante. This is where Marvel is suffering. Such weak villains whereas the best one so far has been Loki (perhaps).
His performances as Bruce and as Batman, were awesome
He nailed all 3 aspects of the character though! Batman, Bruce in his private life and as a detective, and rich playboy Bruce in public. I think he's just being too hard on himself. He was excellent
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Didn't have to point at the "bat nipples" but I'm glad you did.
He's my favorite Batman, he does a flawless job with every role he takes on, one of the greatest actors ever.
Yes because he isnt batman he is bateman
Bale is my second favorite Batman, right after Batfleck. Although yes, what made his movies fantastic were mostly the villains, but he did a fine job as Batman.
The only batman in those movies is in begins. The other 2, I don't who that character was.
He was great in Batman Begins but after that, I have no idea how his voice even made it through the test screenings. It’s objectively laughable.
He was definitely a middling Batman but a great Bruce Wayne (plus having Michael Caine as an acting partner didn't hurt), his villain roster however is immaculate and it's will probably never be topped.
Tbh Without inserting feelings I agree with him in every word he said The character of bale as Batman is considered one of the worst Batmans ever and he did not have a good story The only thing that makes me love him is that he is iconic like most ppl do
He fucking killed it in all 3 films let's be honest.
I agree with him. The fans like it. Keaton and Affleck are my favs.
More like Nolan style of making villans more in depth and more goal driven with unapologetic nature rather then making them monotone like previous batman villans example oppenheimer, prestige, inception i mean batman is story told over and over again how many told story of Bane, Ras al ghul and joker in such good definition
I agree with him. Something felt missing from his Batman. Loved the movies and loved his interpretation but something felt off with his version
OG Batman saying he doesn't like being batman. GOAT!!
The only aspect i didnt care much for was the batman voice, but im not sure how they could have improved it
The sign of a true actor. Someone who mastered the craft but still criticizes himself.
I hated Bale for years because of his Batman performance but Vice and the Fighter turned my opinion of his acting around.
Perhaps if they went the Matt Reeves route and showed more scenes of the World’s Greatest Detective doing detective work
I don't like villains more. It's just that there is more to talk about regarding villains as compared to heroes. That said, society is definitely headed in a wrong direction considering how obsessed people are with villains these days. It's less about discussing the philosophies and psychology of villains and more about how cool people find them, which is really telling. People go as far as to justify villains too. Just look at how many people unironically think Patrick Bateman is someone they should aspire to be.
While I wasn’t a huge fan of his movies as a whole, I applaud him and Nolan for bringing back the dark and gritty Batman that was lost with the Schumacher movies. Having said that…I still think Pattinson did a better job as Batman. At least his Batman didn’t kill anyone
Bale was a fantastic Bruce and those movies are fantastic but yeah as Batman he’s pretty kid but I still love those movies 🔥
Unfortunately that is the thing with superhero movies
The villian is often more important than the hero by a slight margin
The villian is supposed to be the conflict the hero overcomes and if the villian isn't interesting or entertaining enough the conflict and the movie feels empty
RIP Kevin Conroy damn.......
I'm sure Bale liked his pay checks😂
If that’s the case he should have came back in the flash movie
@@Notoriouswrestlingfan12314considering how badly it did hes probably glad he didnt return
That argument doesn't work well here since bale has turned down many roles becaue ehe didn't like them
@@SpookyDooky. I'm not talking about his other rolls I'm talking about his Batman so yes it does work🤦🏽♂️
What does this have to do with literally anything?
He is one of greatest actors in Hollywood right now. Same league or even above DiCaprio. But his Batman was not intimidating at all. Tho his Bruce Wayne was great.
He is and will always be my batman.
Unpopular opinion: Bale made a terrible Batman, his voice just ruined every scene he was in. He's a remarkable actor, and I've loved him in just about everything else he's done. Pattinson went toe-to-toe (acting wise) with Barry Keoghan in that deleted Joker scene, there was a brilliant Yin and Yang between them, Jokers over the top personality with Batmans quiet, brooding demeanour.
I hate he feels that way. He was the best. Easily my favorite Batman and character from the trilogy.
He was perfect for the Nolan universe. Bale is a way above average actor.
People talked about Nicholson more than Keaton too. Batman is not really a role to praise. It's just a fun, stoic role. The villains are more bizarre so of course they are looked at more.
Well he’s one of the only shining lights in Love and thunder.
People don’t just like villains more. The villains in each movie simply overshadowed him. Not to say he did a bad job or anything but Heath legitimately had the most enthralling performance in a Superhero movie ever, Liam Neeson was a ninja who trained Batman and Tom Hardy was funny as hell as Bane. He was by far the best Bruce Wayne but his Batman fell short imo because of the voice he used and his suit. His Batman was also very reserved in a way i actually like in the film but also in a way that moved the spotlight away from him. You can see this clearly whenever he has a scene with Gordan on the rooftops. In those scenes it’s almost like Gordan is the main character and I personally love that Batman operates like that in the films even if it does hurt Bales Batman. Still the second best Batman in cinema though.
He's my favorite Batman but I understand exactly what he's saying. But I don't think it's something that down to the perfomance specifically. I feel like Bale did a great job.
The problem has always been the character of Batman himself. Batman/Bruce Wayne is often overshadowed by his colorful villains in a lot of the stories. That happens because they're allowed more freedom than Batman specially the post Frank Miller version that leans heavily in stoicism, brooding and doesn't show that much emotional range.
Even when they do explore some of his psychology and delve deeper into his personal development it's very limited because it's often predictable. Batman always seems to react to things the sane way so from an entertainment perspective it doesn't quite challenge the chaos and unpredictability of characters like joker or Two Face.
I thought he was amazing both being Batman and Wayne.
I personally like Michael keatings version of bat mean. But I do believe that the series he played in would not have been the same without him.
Well you should know, and I love most of the Batman movies, you were my favorite batman. Even the recent one is good, Pattison is amazing however you were my Fav Batman. Your line "those European chicks", I still crack up. I'm European American so I laughed so much during that scene. ❤
Bro is so generous he chose to be bateman and let us be batman
I loved his batman but didn't like his batman voice, I only ever understood about half of what he said. Batman Begins and Dark Knight are at the top of the genre.
In terms of acting, Bale had the best Batman performance.
In terms of looking the part, Affleck captured the essence of Batman perfectly.
yeah no, pattinson had a better batman performance with just one movie, but at the same time pattinson had way more screen time and dialogue as batman then bale did in his films
TDK Trilogy is Great, but his (Nolan's) take on Batman (and ESPECIALLY Bruce Wayne) is what made me, "ech" about his Role over all.
I may not be a "BATMAN" Batman fan, but I feel like the Persona was poorly written or understood.
Method actors are never happy with there performance. This is why there so good
I like him as both.then Ben affect was next.and that all she wrote for me and my son.we like him as the batman the best.he just look bigger and more Intimidated.
I love him as Batman, he’s one of my favorites, but Liam Neeson is also an amazing actor and more well known than Bale, Joker definitely stole the show in TDK but it’s hard for the Joker to not steal the show, and in TDKR… Bale was definitely the best in that
The point about Bales Batman and Nolan’s directing was that it was flawed - human - relatable and a great allegory for how to overcome your fears and become productive despite all of this. Bale is Batman
Honestly, greatest Bruce Wayne atleast an he’s definitely my favourite iteration of Batman.
He was a great Batman idk why he would say he wasn’t good
I loved him as batman his the best
He's not the only one, I didn't like his Batman either.
He had some great moments in Begins but after that he went OTT with his "bat voice."
It was completely inorganic and I couldn't take him seriously.
He wasn't threatening. Just a guy in awesome cosplay putting on a silly voice.
Too be fair, in nearly every interpretation of the Caped Crusader, the villains always overshadow Batman. It's just how it is.
Even though the movie is called Batman this is an ensemble piece his Rogues gallery is tremendous
Kevin Conroy will always be Batman in my eyes, but Christian Bale is a close 2nd or 3rd (I can't decide if I like him or Robert Pattinson more)
He's the greatest Batman as he fought the greatest villains ever ❤🔥🔥🔥
We come for the hero but stay for the villain
Still think he did well, I like liam and hesths performance, but the reason they shine is they had a great nemesis in Bales Batman. And i like heroes over villains.
