My vet recommended a children's book written by Mr Rogers for dealing with pet deaths. It did seem to help a little.
if mr rogers did it theh darn right its worth adapting!
In America, people who wear Oodies are 92% more likely to stab someone with a pocket knife.
I thought he was going to bring a Ridge Wallet out of his pocket.
@@Daniel.Liddicoat I was thinking he had a Woodsman's Pal in there.
That bit about kids dealing with a dog dying was so spot on. They really do bring it up out of nowhere. Glad to hear that’s universal
“I don’t mean all your religions are fairy tales” omg lmao. Thank you for that Pete
I want a "kicking bins at 1am" shirt. It almost sounds like a punk rock band.
"We have the power to hold no opinion about a WE Banter and not to let it upset our state of mind, for WE Banters have no natural power to shape our judgements" - Marcus Aurelius- "oh, also keep the top of your squeezy tomato sauce bottle clean or it will shoot the sauce sideways and it will miss the meat pie you were planning on sitting down to watch Pete's video with, land on your phone, navigate to another random video, and get down in the gap between the phone and the case" - Marc
Just clean the damn cap! Those who don’t clean the cap also don’t return carts. Can think of any stoic quotes for that one.
"did you know i was made by sex?"
I never could have guessed, I learn something new every day.
Someone robbed a big and tall shop with that TRC...would listen to this as a podcast weekly, biweekly, monthly
You really are one of the most eloquent, thoughtful, intellectual, logical presences on RUclips, and together, wonderful parents! Please keep up the great work, these sorts of disarmingly informal but informative chats are, I believe, exactly what’s needed in society today. My warmest regards and gratitude from the deepest rural UK!
dang dude... that's some great advice on dealing with the hard part of life. Wishing you guys nothing but the best!
You have the superpower known as knife man with never ending blades being pulled out of his magic cosy hodie.
Losing a dog is like losing a family member a son or daughter it hits hard.
Wish ya all the best forwards in life and stay safe in theese times
SPOT ON with your youtube and social media segment. very, very, well said. and sorry to hear about cedric; condolences
Streamlight Stinger LED has been my "Go to" flashlight for over 10 years.
The most reasonable discourse I heard on the internet today was from a man who began his video by pulling knives out of an oodie
Haha LMAO. That’s so true
Well done video Pete. Nice tribute to Cedric. Lots of interesting topics in this "chat." Thanks!
Never think about changing the name. Came across several videos of my dog Bella that I lost three years ago and it felt so weird to see her and listen to her. My dog was my child before I had a son it felt like and losing her was a pretty shitty thing but it happens.
Agree, it might hurt right now but keeping the name might be great later as a memory. I'd at least wait a while before making a decision on that.
I’m sorry for your loss, Pete.
23:26 "Twitter and Facebook have been net losses on the world..." 100% agree with the twitter part.
Is the robe the core edc item here?
Need to see them in more 'pocket dumps'
Dumps in robes is gonna catch on.
Also always great hearing just general ramble. We lost our dog early last year under similar circumstances so pretty relatable stuff.
We can never have too many of these videos
Eagletac D25A. Single AA battery. Lots of modes but easy to use. Screwed-on clip.
I'm an RN and I work only night shifts. I rely on my lights each and every shift, and I've been loving this one for about 2 years straight now.
I've bought a set of 3 Surefire 18650 powered torches 5 or 6 years ago. I use them daily in dirt and rain and all three are still working flawlessly.
I didn't know about Cedric bro =,(
Rest in peace little buddy you beautiful puppy dog
I can kind of vouch for the 'if you're not being a dickhead, you won't get searched for a knife by Police'. I've had a knife in pocket or belt pouch for most of the past 40 years. The only time I had to surrender one was at an airport when I forgot I had it on my belt.
I've used a streamlight protac 2aa for about 10 years. I have abused it, and it's never failed. You will love it. $40 us👍
I've been edc-ing the AD15, pacific salt 2, american lawman & presidio ii most since the new year.
The ProTac 2AA is a great light and it still fits in the pocket. I've not used mine much since buying the Coyote Microstream USB. Also very affordable. Now the Macrostream is out, so it won't be long till I cave in on that.
Best lights I've had are the Sofirn IF25 and IF25a. The IF25 has color temp ramping from 2700k to 6500k, the IF25a has a choice of Anduril 1 or 2 and a color temp choice of 5000k or 6500k. Quite compact yet goes from moonlight mode to blinding turbo (legit 2500-3900 lumens) and disorienting pulsating tactical flash. One 21700 cell yet just a hair over 4" long. Crazy long battery life in the lower modes.
As a knife guy there’s nothing more satisfying than buying someone a blade and seeing them months later and seeing the knife beat to shit :)
"is there something just like it but will stay sharp longer?"
Why yes, friend. Let me guide you to the poorhouse!
Awesome video and thoughts. Thanks so much for your discussion of the role that thirst plays in hunger. Something I needed to hear
Great video, Pete. All the best to you and your family.
RIP Cedric, dogs are the best
I'm half a planet away and I miss Cedric.
Part of my edc is a Streamlight Wedge. It's roughly the size of a small OTF pocket knife and has a rechargeable battery built-in, which comes with a usb-c connection for recharging. The light is waterproof and has an aproximate battry life of about 300 hrs. on the lower settting. I believe it has two output settings, about 300/1500 lumens controlled by a rocker switch on the side.
Lost one of my two Cocker Spaniels just before Christmas. Great little dog. I still catch myself thinking about him. Always happy memories last longer than the loss.
Totally enjoyed it. Thanks for the chat Pete.❗👌😊
Simply wonderful. Thanks!
You never stop missing your loved ones, be they human or animal. Eventually though you get to a place where, when you think about them, even if a tear still rolls down your face afterwards for their absence, a smile will cross it first for the time you did have together.
I've been daily using a Nitecore P20ix and it's served VERY well. Drops, underwater, left on max in a bag, it's just kept going fine for almost 2 years now.
There are mag lights now that have LED bulbs that are actually really bright and durable.
Late saying this, but I truly do enjoy your videos. Not just the knives, either, but the thoughtfulness and forthrightness with which you look at things. We are a bit of a weird lot at times, us humans, but we can choose goodness and fun and sanity, as you seem to do.
Damn I agree with you 1000% on the Benchmade Bailout and Native 5. Well done!
"Glass breakers are stupid on knifes"... You could not be MORE right!!
This was very cool, Pete. While I immensely enjoy your regular format this type of laidback off-the-cuff video is quite enjoyable and insightful.
Pimpin' outfit buh ... definitely pervy dangerous. Perfect for the outback!
That's the coolest blue crushed velvet dress I've ever seen... your wife's gonna be pissed once she finds out you've been wearing it for a youtube video!
Life banter! Nice cross over
I was mistaken thinking only the roo’s had big front pockets in Australia. I did not know it was a fashion statement. When it is time to put a dog down it is the compassionate thing to do. We should be so lucky when our time comes.
Australian knife laws is pretty spot on with Swedish knife laws
Love the channel. I live on a farm with lots of stuff that comes up at night. Putting the hens in the coop, putting out hay, feeding animals and so on. A headlamp is where it's at. It allows you to be able to use both hands while you work. My favorite headlamp is the Petzl Swift RL it is a rechargeable headlamp that has adaptive lighting so your not always blinding yourself. It also has 900 peak lumens so it will LIGHT IT UP. If mine broke I would immediately buy another on. It's that good. Anyways love the channel, keep it up!
Brother you sir are a great dad and pet owner! ❤
Great montages at the end. Little Ada was cute. I liked that video where you dressed as a c oc k. You are a great dad ! That's from an American whose daughter is 40. Always enjoy your content & level headedness. Glad you decided against changing the channel name.
Multitools: Rebar!! I made a chisel of the widest straight screw driver and sharpened can opener (for scoring, blister packs, drywall..) and the wire stripper. Now it is the perfect tool. Had to buy another back when I thought I lost it.
The only place I've ever kicked a bin over at 1am is Australia. I'm guessing that's a thing? When in Rome 🤣
I don’t know why but getting some Russell brand vibes lol.
Leave the channel name. 👍🏻 love my robot vac. It’s one of the things I didn’t want to buy but glad I did. But sometimes I feel silly vacuuming it out with another vac. 🤔
hahah today I blew out the filter of my shop vac with a leaf blower. It was so meta
Try Fenix torches. Never had any issues with the couple I have.
Great down to earth video
The Foursevens Quark series are the best lights I’ve ever had. I’ve had one of the 2xCR123 models for nine years, and it’s still going strong. Definitely recommend one.
My reason - “because I want to” Great video Pete!
I enjoy the ramble.
Thanks for such an honest and entertaining video. We have 2 cats and a dog all over 15 years age, so looking down the barrel of a very upset wife and daughters in the next few years. As you said, everyone will be ok, but it will certainly be sad.
Knife carry laws are definitely annoying here in Australia luckily my work gives me a reason if I were to ever be called up on it
Americans have different knife laws per state. You'd be surprised. Here in Canada we can have any length knife as long as you have a purpose for it. Like a belt carry bowie knife in the countryside is ok but in an office you couldn't carry one. I carry a Gerber LMF II partially serrated and a Schrade SCAX in my emergency get home bag. I travel by subway so the insulated Gerber handle with serrations to cut different materials in a city environment is better for me. But in the end it's left to the choice of the police no matter what you carry. Also no switch blades or gravity blades etc.
Your intro reminds me of A Bit Of Fry And Laurie gags where they’d say “no pun intended” when no one had said a pun.
Young Cedric and tiny Ada 🥰
Sofirn is a good brand with a great range of lights for all needs. Bought a few C8+ in different colors for fun, real good throwers. Sofirn sp33 is what id recommend for the Chickens sleepy time.
For the best you can get in the handheld light category: Modlite PLHv2 handheld.
For something that will fit all of your needs, is bomb proof, and isn't nearly that expensive: Surefire 6PX
Never had a problem with my fenix torches.
Olight baton 3 is my current torch. I use it on medium setting seems to get me through in my chicken coop.
Nitecore lights have been stable for me. I have a single 18650 Nitecore flashlight I've been using since 2019. It's been more reliable than the over-hyped Zebralight and much cheaper than other brands that I didn't mind being a little rough when using it. Its last charge was over a year ago, I then gifted it to someone who has been using it as a night stand light for around an hour to 3 hours a night on low for the last 5 months or so, it's still working on that single charge.
Knifelaws: almost same thing here in Denmark. Works just fine - but I often wish I could carry something silly like a Aitor Oso.
All the short cameo appearances of the Slysz Bowie being used to hold a puddle of mustard and as a makeshift spatula. Lol
21:36 That's the thing: the center gets the most attacks, because it gets attacks from both sides.
Great video. Love the Oodie lol
great vid pete thank you
I have edc'd a Surefire 6P since 2005, and for me, it's been good. A few years ago, I put a Malkoff drop-in into it for more light, but honestly could have kept with the Surefire LED. The thing is so old that it came out before Surefire had an LED module available. I wouldn't recommend the incandescent for edc.
I do have a couple of Princeton Tec headlamps for hands-free type stuff, and one has a red LED mode, which is kind on the eyes at night.
Emisar flashlights, specifically the D4v2 in titanium... Ive dropped it going 40 on my motorcycle and all it suffered was a couple scratches and a bent bezel which i was able to replace
Man i love these " not in a rush" videos so much. Love to hear another knife and dog owners thought. Sorry about your dog, it can be rough (my first dog is 7 so I am unaware how ill react). Peace and love brother
I think you are turning into a self-reliant homesteader...Wranglebricky!
Also braaaak. Love the chooks. I hope they sleep well too.
Love the longer chat vids
Hey Pete! IMO the Thrunite T1 would be perfect for your situation. Definitely look into it or at least try it out. I carry mine almost daily and for everything, love the infinite brightness capability. So ya there ya go!
I use a Contego in M4 for outdoor gardening work.
“Weapons & guns & cool explody knife sh*t” where’s that channel? Why aren’t we watching that?! 😄
Seriously though, great video, Pete thanks.
I have too many flashlights (according to my wife anyway) but the Fenix LD30 is the one that goes everywhere with me. It uses a standard 18650 (not a proprietary variant) and I use the 18650s with a built-in usb charge port so I can charge them in multiple ways outside of the light. The LD30 has a tail switch, which I like, but that means it won’t tail stand. If you need a tail standing light, the E28R is a good choice.
9:24 😂 exactly! Thanks Pete.
Rovivon makes a fantastic torch.
I feel the same re: 940 and Bailout. I love them both, but the Bailout is like a more refined 940. It gets compared to the Bugout for obvious reasons, but line it up with a regular aluminum 940 and you can’t unsee it.
Mustard Slysz Bluey looks delicious btw.
To the flashlight question: I bought a Lumintop FW3A and I absolutely love it. Best light I’ve ever owned. I know Shabazz wasn’t crazy about the UI but once you get used to it it’s the best
damn dawg you made me kiss my cat and cry a little, awesome way of handling all of that, you're the man.
I've had a Fenix TK15 single 18650 light for 6 years now. I've used it as a hammer, it has adjustable brightness via push button, I'd recommend it to you as a light that is reliable, affordable and can put out a good amount of light.
Interesting take on olight. I've owned about 5 olights and have never had any problems. I've hard used an srII baton for four years. I guess I've been lucky.
I usually don’t leave comments on videos these days, but I wanted to make a recommendation for the BLF A6 flashlight. It has a great and idiotproof UI, works with both 18350 and 18650 batteries, and comes in various tints to suit your preferences. The A6 with the 18350 battery tube is my go to EDC flashlight when I know I’m going to be outside/away from my usual bag of goodies. It’s also really well priced. Probably the only disadvantage, if it is one, is that it’s mostly only available from import sites like AliExpress and Banggood.
Damn you pete, you said you weren't going to do the tear jerker at the end and now im thinking about my Lilly. Good boy Cedric, good girl Lilly.
I highly recommend klarus e1 as a flashlight in between those two you have. Its a 1000 lumens and has 4 settings of light from what they call moon light, which might be around 50 lumens, all the way to full power. Its what I carry. Just dont strobe the chickens 🤪
For a flashlight you might like Streamlight USB microsteam..I recommend the tan color one click to Bright double click for dim..the black is the opposite and it'd annoying.. I've heard good things about the macrostream but don't own one..( im a mechanic I use a flashlight all day ) worklights are great but car parts create shadows so I usually have a work light and a Microstream clipped on my hat
Prising...... Wonderbar! Perfect
My EDC:
Light: 5.11 EDC PL 2AAA
Front right pocket: victorinox explorer plus
Front left pocket: Benchmade (940 or one of my Barrages)
Back pocket: Buck 110 custom in S30V
Apple Watch 6
iPhone 12pro in my jacket
Belroy minimalist wallet
Key fob for my Jeep Gladiator Rubicon or my BMW K1600B 🥰
Glasses
Clothes (5.11 jeans and a lululemon shirt or polo)
That’s me 😎🇨🇦🤘🏻
I like my fenix pd36r. It’s a bit large for edc, but it’s a great light to keep in my car and to take out on hikes. I’ll never go back to a light that’s not rechargeable.
I use a headlamp, and I couldn’t recommend it enough!
Streamlight has been the most reliable brand for me. I like the microstream model line up.
Rovyvon makes some awesome small keychain flashlights.
You should check out the Olight Seeker 2 Pro. I love it for around the house. It's a bit big for EDC but it has lots of throw in a pocketable size. You can get it with a magnetic charging mount that you can attach to the wall and it will always be charged.
Amazing...not one “Blue Kangaroo” joke. Knife people must be a good step up from say those Twitter folk...
