Interesting. Does this mean humans have become more militeristic in the future? Or is this because the alien recruits are much more civilean so they don't know much about their own world's military? Or perhaps most alien culture evolve towards more a naturalistic aproach and human organize fighting isn't as common with other.
I wonder if the future human government have mandatory military training like Korea does. I enjoy that gun safety has become incomporated to the education system.
Of course this assumes that all the information we learn about the humans through the aliens is true and not exaggerated rumours.

Wonderful story! I listened to Frairen's growing agast and distainful attitude on her first day of human boot camp regarding what she viewed as the "Basic" nature of human military training, and then finally her very low opinion and attitude towards the "neolithic" human rifle that had no micro-reactor, no railgun or plasma balls, and was a rifle that did little more then simply use propellent to throw a cone of metal, and to her utter amazement and dismay, also had an actual separate bayonet knife that could be attached to the rifle with a mounting lug. Her unspoken but obvious wondering of how that knife could possibly be of ANY use in a modern war was just hilarious and immediately prompted me to think of the character Ace from the original release of the Sci-Fi movie "Starship Troopers" with his very similar attitude in boot camp toward the "questionable" value of learning how to throw knives in what was essentially a nuke war, his question regarding that to his Drill Instructor Zim, and Zim's notable answer. That plus Frairen's attitude then prompted the following crossover scene in my mind....
(Frairen, very frustrated, calls out loudly to the drill instructor who is standing some 20-25 feet away) "Sir, I don't understand. Who needs an ancient bayonet in a modern war anyway? All you gotta do is pull a trigger, Sir. (The drill instructor speaking loudly) Everyone pay attention! (Addresses Frairen) Put your hand against that tree soldier. (Frairen hesitates and the drill instructor repeats using a "Command Tone") PUT! YOUR! HAND! AGAINST! THAT! TREE! (Frairen unsure but obeys) (The drill instructor promptly grabs another bayonet and throws it, perfectly impaling the palm of Frairen's hand to the tree and she yells in pain) The drill instructor calmly walks over to a groaning Frairen and gestures to her bloody hand still pinned to the tree by the bayonet and loudly says to everyone present) The Enemy Cannot Pull A Trigger If You Disable His Hand! (He then loudly yells "MEDIC!!" and walks away) 😅 yeah, I know, but I couldn't help it lol. P.S. VERY NICELY NARRATED! Delightful story! Is there a part 2 out there or in the works? The ending seemed to be an obvious lead in to the next chapter. I would love to see Frairen's skills grow until she is promoted into a leadership role.

Not too bad, though the Range part was way over the top. You don't expose a recruit so green, he pisses grass and can't tell the muzzle from the stock of his rifle to "advanced" training methods and I somehow doubt that anywhere life ammo is used in a fashion similar to what was described. Additionally, D.I. Marshall failed her duties. When she inspected the feet of Frairen she either must have seen something to alert her and then she would have recommended grabbing fresh socks and powder or possibly send her to the medics - who knows, your run of the mill human foot powder could turn into acid or some crap due to their secretions. Why make a point of something so mundane? Because it is the duty of every Officer and NCO to take care of the physical well being of each and every one person under their command. ESPECIALLY when they're fresh meat on the grinder.

This seems to be the second story with this cast of characters going through basic training and would love to follow the rest. I know you all make the titles in order to get clicks, but it would be really nice if you could tag them in a way that we could follow the stories in order. Or at the very least , put all the stories that feature the same characters in its own collection or something.
    ( To be honest.
The titles of most of these stories are all so similar It's hard
to tell if you're gonna get a good one or a stinker.)

I have listened to a couple of these sci-fi stories in the last week or so. So now they are popping up on my feed like mad. I'm noticing a common theme. Humans kick ass... Humans are tough...
I find that interesting considering how strong we AREN'T compared to other species just on this world. Chimps and gorillas come to mind. On the other hand, I do wonder if we could rank among the strongest species able to travel in space. I base this on the idea that gravity might dictate strength. If earth were just a little bit bigger, there would be no chemical rocket capable of going to space, so we could be the strongest (highest gravity planet) capable of ever finding our way to space. Stronger species on super earths that developed to overcome the gravitational loads they experience would be trapped on their home world with no chemical rockets capable of birthing a space race.

The whole idea of HFY is that humans are complently crazy and powerful compared to the other aliens.
But I do sorta get your point, in a lot of these the alien is ignorant of many things yet their speech is as if they are from earth, since some words or phrases just wouldn’t make any sense to someone who didn’t grow up on earth.
      Yet..
some of the stories (can’t think of an example atm) do go out of their way to mention a universal translator.. which at least helps.. and there is one I remember that they kept making comments about how the translator would struggle to get a concept across and I LOVED it.

@guardbrosfielddesk After having listened to the playlist, I understand the shared universe this author has made (love it). That being said, why call the playlist miss rimikii, since she isn't in every one of them?

@@majinplaton Hey, during the late 1700s the US was all set up to use the metric system, until it became quite clear that our biggest trading partners, the British and the French, had rejected the Metric system. So in order to make things easier on US Industry, we adopted the BRITISH Imperial System...only for both of them to adopt the Metric system later. By the time everyone else was using the metric system, the US was the world's biggest economy by FAR and it would have cost US businesses a lot of money to retool everything in Metric units, causing US business interests to kill any attempt by the government to change systems.
