Thanks again bro my daughter just got her epic shirt today she loves it says it's the most comfortable shirt ever. I will send a pic of us both wearing them.
3 piece more choices (cranks and sprockets) but have to make sure to center the spline, 2 piece stronger, lighter n simpler but less sprocket options, not able to switch left or right foot drive and usually more expensive. Good points. 👍
Thunderbolts are the best cranks i have ever bought hands down, just be careful not to cross thread and strip your bolts anywhere on your bike obviously. But I think 2 piece cranks are stronger I've broken bolts on 3 piece cranks before having less Hardware equals less places for Hardware to break and welds are stronger than bolts
I wish bikeshop in my city explained the parts like him. They always said “That one is more expensive than this one” whennever i asked what is the diff betwen 2 parts. . And its not even a bmx shop. Only selling few bmx parts
Don't forget the the 2.5 piece cranks such as the BSD substance XL V1 and V2. This is because you can use spline drive on the left side of the crank, so essentially a 2 piece crank with 3 different drive options. LHD, RHD, LHD SPLINE DRIVE and with investment casted bosses that are welded flat, no more ankle dusters when learning whips. IMO The best option is 3 piece because if you ever bend or strip a spindle you can replace it. If you are dropping off roof tops and hard on your landings you may need to go with 24mm cranks, I'm Partial to Profile's THE COLUMN Cranks. you can run LHD or RHD because they are only spline drive. They are seriously burly and with the new RNC heat treated Ti 22mm Spindle they are light and strong enough for park riding, benefit is you damage one arm you can buy a new arm not the whole crank, My money is on Profile, Lifetime warranty, and you can buy arms individually, as well as spindle. I do like the Odyssey Tunderbolt cranks a lot too, hard to beat the lifetime warranty there either.
Fiend still does the 2.5 piece combo with the wedge system to remove unwanted play, they are nice cranks but over time they get some play so you have to tighten them once a month at least if you are riding hard
Just bought an almost new refurbished Powerlite Spitfire frame freshly painted with new decals and looking for some 3 piece cranks and shopping on Ebay, any recommendations? I don't want to get some cheap knockoff brand.
@@AlfredoMancuso Yo alfredo I don't know if this is crazy but is it possible to get classic primo power bite spindles anymore the square ones I have looked all over the place online but cant find one I figure there not in production any more. Could just be im in canada but who knows I think I found a titanium one on ebay looks good but its marked hollow bite and gt and bunch of other brand names I think just for the search engine I messaged the guy too and hes doesnt seem to know what hes selling. I looked seems primo and gt made the same crank or at the least look very much the same I never had a gt one but ended up with 2 primo power bites bought one new back in the day and bought a used dirt jumper of some guy and it came with the classic power bite. just hoping to scoop a couple see how long I can use those bastards
I might be missing something, but couldn’t you just flip the two piece crank over and push it in the bottom bracket from the other side- to make it left or right? I just did my first ever three piece- went with a Redline flight. The old square drive was worn out and the end bolt was bent. It went together pretty well, but both the crank kit and the MCS spider & chainring kit were missing the 22? (might be 15/16) to 19mm reducer spacer thing. So I turned one out on a drill with a file (like a lathe). Works perfect.
My kid inherited my original 1993 Dyno Nitro bike and wants to convert it from the original 1 piece to 3 piece cranks. What’s the benefit to having three piece cranks?
I went from a 1pc with American BB to Profile dj cranks with American BB, then Madera cranks with mid BB then back to profile 19mm cranks with Mid BB then fiend cranks with Mid BB im rocking now i found the 1pc cranks bend and the profile cranks work loose and with titaniam axle's stripped the spline's out the arms the Fiend cranks are solid no wobble no coming loose get some people and see what i mean 👍
What does the Framed 29er have? Any recommendations and what I can swap in there? I am a big dude. 6 foot, 300 pnds and my bike makes a creak only when peddling and am thinking i need to change something with the crankset/ barings or something. Any advice is welcome
2-piece are a pain to remove especially when changing sprocket sides.. Even with a 170mm 2 piece vs a 165mm 3 piece the 2-piece are still iighter. But both cranks that I own have lasted me for 4-5 years.
Man i have fought with too many 2 piece cranks back in the day to ever run one again If your a lazy teenager (like i was ) and dont keep up with the upkeep of ypur cranks and ride dirt or even just in the wet occasionally, your gonna have a hell of a time getting them off !! When i got my first profile 3 piece crankset i never looked back
How you gonna use a left crank arm on the right side? Are you forgetting that the pedals are left hand threads? You're going to unscrew the pedal from the crank as you pedal the bike.
Is there a difference between 8T and 48T spindles that you can feel while riding? My current cranks have a 48 teeth spindle but the new crankset i wanna get has a 8 teeth. does it matter?
1:35 I had Primo power bites on my S&M holmes 99 model the pinch bolts alway's cracks the alloy on the end of the crank arms in between the pinch bolts i think thats why the Superbite cranks was made out of heat treated chromoly and have no pinch bolts
Had many cranks over the years power bites .prince alberts .redline .hutch areospeeds .fsa .profiles .bsd.haro fusion.oddesey .wtp.my favorates where fusion cranks db turbo cranks and fsa smackdaddies and primo cromoly cranks as the arms where compatable with my powerbites .
I have a question but it is not related to the video. Until what size of pegs can be used with the animal kotulac multi-tool and with the shadow multi-tool?
Awesome videos, man! I really wish I would have watched all these before I bought that 21.25 TRL (I'm 5.8 160, but as you said, if it's not a BMX place, they don't know shit.). But, it's okay, I'll just learn on the bike and build one slowly. That Peg episode was super insightful. I just started riding again. Im 32 yrs old. I'm injured right now because of some gnarly crashes on some sketchy dirt jumps here in the 209. I just wanna ride!
That's crazy you and I are in similar situations. I just started riding my bmx at 31. I also bought my bike from a place that doesn't really cater to the BMX crowd, oh well. I went with a Fit Bike 22". So far I just use it for a bit of exercise, to commute to all my local shops and to my job since I live so close to work. I haven't tried doing any stunts other than a hill bomb here and there.
if your just riding to get from a-b top tube size is irrelevant and if anything probably the longer the more preferable for comfort on distance riding but if you go trying to learn tricks your gonna have a really hard time and progress really slowly, at 5.8" for tricks you don't want any longer than a 20.75" top tube and your chainstay length, stand over height and bottom bracket height will come down to what style of riding you want to do, for example if you want to be a street beast a 13" or lower chainstay is favourable, if you want to be park tech rider same applies on chain stay lengths, if you want to go high and flow 13.5" and higher is best, and if you wanna ride trails anywhere from 13-13.75" is best, stand over height comes down to, higher easier bar spins harder tail whips, lower harder bar spins easier tail whips, hope this explains and helps well enough
5'8" here too. Currently ride a 21". Considering getting a 21.25"..i'm thinking it will feel better doin manuals, won't loop out so easily? Easier to control in the air? How does 21.25" feel to you?

So what sprockets are best for certain riding types? what sprockets are good for heavy people or jumping?
i have just watched 3 episodes on bottom brackets and i must say very informative and relatable. Good job.
