100+ days later, and the production companies/studio execs/etc. have still yet to give the writers (And actors) what they deserve. Fair compensation, a lack of A.I., min numbers in the writers' room, and respect.

@@justintruong9063I hope we don’t get a Writers Strike ‘07 Reprise. It was miserable for all involved, but especially for employees that work behind the scenes and were out of work for several months.
The people that live paycheck-to-paycheck or close to it.
Also, the last strike gave us the tidal wave of TLC style “reality” shows and formulaic “talent” shows. And heaven knows we don’t need more of those.
(They existed before the Strike, but networks invested in them even more after it to insulate themselves so that they’d have “strike-proof” programming just in case.)
The average starting salary for writers on late shows is over 4 grand a week and it's not essential work. I'm not just going to blindly support this strike.
Roy Wood Jr. was great at WHCD!
Seth is very humble and knows the worth of those around him and uplifts them every chance he gets. He knows it’s not a one man show, and it takes a village to make him look good on tv. I will always appreciate him for that.

I have always felt that Seth was the one late night host who backed his writers, with Jokes Seth Can't Tell and Surprise Inspection he gives them the spotlight. He seems to know that without the writers he would not be where he is, thank you Seth!
Yeah I’ve noticed that! Even in Corrections he’s often referencing specific writers. There’s no other late night show whose writers were ever known by name to the audience as far as I can tell. Says a lot about him.
Conan was good at it too. A lot of his writers would be the zany characters in the skits he did, and when he left NBC to go to TBS he brought i think all his staff and crew that wanted to make the move with him. Being a former writer himself, im sure he understood how much of the program utterly depended on them working hard.
Seth & Conan are especially good to their staff because they both started as writers, they know what it's like. Plus, I think Seth & Conan are both just good dudes.
He himself made his mark with his writing.

Yeah there's no real concern over the Russia Ukraine war. What could go wrong? And there's Just a itsy bitsy tad of inflation and high interest rates. And the country being so divided isnt a worry. Even though straights and ironically, Christian straits, are gays main source of population. And if we could keep calling everyone racist or other labels, thats nothing to be alarmed about. When you want your way call everyone a murderer or cry victim. And all the endless charges against Trump and none against the Bidens is really going to satisfy everyone that the govt isnt tilted to one side. You only think that whn youre losing, right? But not if you win. And we can always count on bi partisan support for military endeavors. Economic recessions and downturns are just normal now. Why worry? For 60 years plus Democrats have been the figurehead of blk politics and have rendered them to a paltry and stagnant population rate of only 14 percent. Nothing alarming about that. Its always been that way....

I perform 6 shows a day 5 days a week at the local High School as a science teacher. I can say from experience that great writing is a must!! The eye rolls I get from the teens are legendary, and the reviews are brutal!

Someone on social media asked "why don't the late nite shows just have the host interview the guests and stay on the air that way"
and in this I had to support that it takes writers, talking with the guest, to work out the questions that the host prompts in order to keep the interview alive.
yeah, it doesn't take that when Seth and Amy Poehler meet, given their long friendship and professional association.
but without that? all the interviews quickly degenerate into Chris Farley's "you remember that one time that you did this one thing? That was awesome!".
Not every guest has Paul McCartney's patience.

I remember the 2007-2008 writers strike. The daily show and the Colbert report kept airing new episodes and they were HORRIBLE. It showed me just how awesome and essential writers are. Stay on the air and remind ppl why we need to pay our writers well!!

Smart move letting the internet know about what the writers are going through. One loud voice can be a threat. Many can be a weapon.
This show is a perfect example of how great writers make a great show, and while that's true of just about any show, it's clear that some are better than others, and this show really stands out as the best show ever to fill the 12:37 AM timeslot!

I know I'm late to the party, but A Closer Look has been my favorite late night comedy segment across all shows. I admittedly stopped finding it very funny over time, but that changed nothing. This show was very informative, and in many ways often said what I thought on things better than I could say it myself. Remembering this show always reminds me of the writer's strike honestly hurt to hear, because the writers of this show are brilliant, as is Seth for fully supporting them.
Every so often, I rewatch this episode, explicitly to hear Seth's speech at the end. I saw an interview of one of the writers on the strike while searching for updates on Google, and it cemented just how they felt about Seth. They knew he would say something at the end of the episode, but they didn't know what, and when they heard it, they got emotional about it. Bravo, Seth! I hope you keep advocating for the writers' union until the strike ends, and above all, I hope the union wins!
I appreciate Seth for supporting writers and the WGA strike. As someone who works in this industry and was on the precipice of being in a writer’s room, the things l learned about the industry shook me. Cheers to the potential new ground forged moving ahead…
Honestly I'd be kind of shocked if no other fox anchors get fired. I mean tucker was their most popular anchor, and they dropped him without warning. Pirro and Bartiromo are definitely in the literal firing line.

I had no clue that Seth’s show airs so late!
I remember being one of the strange kids in elementary school because I could make small talk with my teachers and administrators because I always watched Carson, and then Leno. I loved Letterman. I was a weird kid that would sneak to stay awake past my bedtime just so I could watch late night talkshows and SNL was my party every weekend.

I was also THAT KID. I would tape Carson on cassette and study it and regale my friends with my Jack Benny, Buddy Hackett and Jimmy Sewart impressions. I used Rickle's insults as my own. This day, when I drive in LA and pass a certain exit I hear Carson in the skit he did with the buxom blonde, a map and a pointer:" Go to the Slawson Cutoff, get off, and cutoff your slawson". Yep I was a weird kid. I never grew up.

Precociousness is not being a weird kid. Its our modern culture that discourages kids from enjoying adult things.
And by "adult" I dont mean sex, drugs, and profanity, although thats also part of it. What I mean is, adults hate it when kids are allowed access to worldly affairs.
Academia is a ruse to keep kids in line, because religion was becoming obsolete as a discliplinary rod.
And now some high schools start as early as 7 a.m. 😮

@@mkechandler5776 Strongly disagree. Other roles get more and writers imo are the lifeblood of any production. Without writers nothing gets made.
@@dougcrane8031 its anywhere from 60000 a year to 200000 a year, late night writers seem to make the most at 4000 a week, im not saying they dont deserve more because i aint paying them but they arent starving in the street.
