bandoogiemanz That does look impressive but to tell you the truth, I like the Hasbro/Takara one better as far as styling and size and with some well placed panel lines and the Reprolabels sticker sheet, it will look like more of a premium toy. Plus I need the money to get the rest of the Dibots :)
Ali Robins I'm just starting my collection so I don't have any combiners or dinobots for that matter. I am all about g1 cartoon likeness and it appears so far that the toy world constructicons will be closest to that. I will probably get two sets the toy world for devy mode and another set for bot/vehicle mode. Also, if I could have your opinion, which dinobots you like more, fan toys or gigapower? I know gigapower has only released one, but they have put up test shots for two more on their facebook page.
FansToys Dibots all the way. As far as quality, G1 style and engineering I would go for FansToys. They are so good it is hard to believe they are not first party figures.
That part of the leg in robo mode is an easy fix. Get an 1/8” drill and some rare earth magnets in a 1/8” rod form. I did this for my master of destruction megatron - the gun barrel on his back kept flopping back and magnets did the trick.

I decided to get the Fans Toys Dinos from the get go. But looks like I need to reconsider MP Grimlock and get the oversized KO instead...
Hold off on that because Fans Toys is releasing it's own Grimlock called Grinder, later this year

Do you get to give your input directly to fanstoys our do they just gage overall reactions to test shots? Also do you take down and play with your toys often? your sever's reprolable looks really good. I want to do it to mine but I worry it will scuff up with frequent transformations.

Seven year old video but I'm late to the Masterpiece game and aside from paying the late tax I need a bit of help with some of these as well. My Stomp's neck does not fold up as neatly as yours. The plastic on both the neck sections prevents it from folding. It doesn't look like a defect as the plastic looks rounded and flush so that it looks good in dino mode but it will not fold even with considerable force (I actually made some stress marks on the plastic).

nice review,,, try getting the "KO G1 Color Scheme MP2.0 MasterPiece Grimlock MP-08X Oversized REXIMUS PRIME" (thats quite a mouthful) to have your g1 dinobot collection, (cartoon-color accurate) complete and in scale w/ the fanstoys dinobots and other masterpiece figures.
FansToys is releasing it's own Grimlock later this year, he's probably waiting on that

Would have been nice to see it compared to other 3rd party figures like usually done... would have like to see it next to G-creation Shuraking SRK01 Thunderous .
My problem is, these guys are WAY too expensive. If all of them were even $100 cheaper I would buy them all right now. There are few flaws, but for that price it better be perfect.

Stupid question since I’m new to all these remakes. Do they change the names for Japan? Is it for copyright because it’s not licensed? I’m confused. Why Stomp, Grinder...etc. I’m assuming the latter since you’re saying “not sludges”. Sorry for the probably silly question.
these aren't official figures so they can't legally call them by their actual names.
