Very good camper. I like the simplicity. Remarkable your ideas. I am working on a project for a 1978 Dodge Power Wagon and I think what you have done on your truck is better than the well known brands for campers. Way to go. Congrats.
You guys did an awesome job on the inside! Great video and you were very smart and creative on the inside. Smart thinking about weight all the time too. Best floor I’ve seen in a video. Would love to see more of it!
I love this build. I think people get too caught saving up and getting the best of everything when simple and cheap often works 95% as well. You can spend thousands on a nice Goose Gear set or you can spend that money actually travelling and seeing the country! With a stock 4 banger Taco these two can go to 95% of the real world destinations out there
I like the Light weight conscious approach. I’ve got a Toy tundra and project m is always something that inspires me past the tent we sleep in for getaways.
Great job modifying your Project M, and thanks for the video. I'm ordering mine this weekend. You provided me with a lot of ideas and inspirations. Thanks again! -D
If you're not a hardcore rock crawler then that 2.7 I4 is more than adequate for the purpose especially with the manual trans. Love the simplicity on the Project M and what you have done with it to make it yours. Keep the videos coming.

Dude like the camper and how you set it up. My question is the back door and tailgate; how is it with bugs and stuff? It seams like it would be pretty hard to keep them out when you have the hatch and tailgate open??? Thanks!!
Yes, the huge hatch does let in a fair amount of bugs if your not careful. But many( I haven’t yet) made screen door out of the magnetic screen doors for houses. Feel free to join my Facebook group for the project M. Lots of great ideas and builds in there!
You might want to get a clothes pin to keep your paper towels from unrolling. My dad uses plastic ones so the wind doesn’t unroll the towels. I was going to mention about Carbon Monoxide being heavier so you should put one midline or just a bit lower, maybe just under the lower sleeping platform/couch
@@tealtopper2351 You should take that thing to alabama hills! i was there in march and it was beautiful there but really windy. i wonder how it will hold out in the wind.
@@guitargurl390 I might have to add that to my list! Winds shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I’m apart of a few Facebook groups and many people accidentally drive with the top popped up, on the freeway too! 😂
Very nice. I think FWC hit a homerun with the Project M. A topper that can be taken off with jacks. Build out at your own economic pace and liking. The only downside is the 270 awning doesn’t work. Enjoy.
@Teal Topper, just curious about how you got things attached on the wall? The material of the walls is a bit strange and Ive had command strip/ adhesive stuff not be able to stay on the wall. Falls right off. Did you screw into the walls and shelves? How far could you go? Im worried about doing damage or puncturing
Hello!! I’ve become very interested in the Project M Topper and I thank you for sharing your camper and experiences!! I do have a question; the Topper came with 2 benches, one on either side that I saw in a Four Wheel Camper Video; did you remove those benches to make your current build?? I know that I want to take them out for my build. Thanks and continue to make great videos!!!
Thanks for the support! And nope I didn’t remove the benches, and I don’t think you are able to remove them. But they don’t really get in the way. Because the camper sticks out slightly off the bed rails, the actual bench doesn’t come into the bed as far as you would think
I had them mount it, it’s bolted down. They hook up your third brake light and do a good job of getting it water tight. Plus if it leaks it’s on them to make it right. They did a very good job mounting and sealing everything
I'm also curious how you like the bed you have in there, and which ikea mattress you're using. I have the original mattress in there and its really uncomfortably hard
It’s a child mattress that has segments. I forget witch one exactly. If you have the original mattress. I recommend getting a 1-2 inch foam topper for it( depending how much can fit) and if you don’t already have a anti condensation Mat get a product called Den Dry. It keeps the sleeping area dry and also adds a tiny bit of cushion
You essentially pull it out towards the center of the truck, it makes it about 6 inches wider. I will definitely be incorporate showing that in one of my next videos!
Nice setup. I have a Project M on a first gen double cab Tundra. Getting about 14MPG at 65, 12-13MPG at 70-75. Curious what MPG you're getting with the smaller truck and 4 cylinder?
I have another video on a product I used called rockblok, it seals the tailgate. Even with this product tho very small amounts do get in after a whole day on dirt roads
thank you for sharing this! I haven't seen too many videos of people building these out, definitely keep posting. I was curious, does a lot of dust get kicked up into the camper? Do you have a shower setup?
They did a really great job of sealing this one up. I got Zero dust in but I did put a small piece of tape over a tiny hole near the tailgate. But a product called rockblok, that I haven’t been able to install yet, should seal that part up
If you search magnetic curtain rods on amazon there are many options just like mine. And you also need to search for metal plates for car phone mount. Like these www.amazon.com/Universal-Magnetic-Holder-Adhesive-Compatible/dp/B07CJ1SPY7/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=magnetic+plates&qid=1622836495&sr=8-3 I use these all over my camper for things that I want to be magnetic
@@tealtopper2351 did you also say in one of your videos you use a moisture wicking sheet over the bed when its down? or did I hear that somewhere else?
The camper stays on full time. It’s nice and water tight. The pay load would very depending on wood/gear/water but I’m thinking roughly 800lbs - 1000lbs
Unfortunately no, only things that gets left when closing is 4 inches of foam, heated blankets and thin blanket over that. Everything else needs to be stored on the couch when popped down
Yes that is held into place with one latch, it can be completely gutted on the right very easily. Because I plan on sliding in a quad one of these days.
Congrats. Here are a few suggestions: Beef-up the suspension. If you drive offroad, go with Helwig helper springs and not airbags. But if you're planning on being another vanlife vlogger doof who drives on pavement, get the airbags. Upgrade the 4 cylinder to a 6. And paint that fugly camper. Seafoam green?!? Hopefully you got it on sale as a discontinued model.

Love the "supposubly" comment. Had a friend that used to say that too. Thanks for the video and tips.

Some really smart ideas to save weight which is more important than many people realize. Especially if you are driving the 4 cyl Tacoma!

Nice build, perfect for one or two people. Would you mind sharing costs.
Love your simple set up.

How does the four cylinder hold up? I have the same and was thinking about the project m.
Any dust get inside?? Or does that floor panel you added help?
Great job! Thank you my install is june 7, did you have any dust issues?
A product called rockblok worked great to seal the bed ,When I Wheel all day there’s still slight dust that gets in. But I would call it an issue

Will magnets stick to outside of camper if not moving?
Unfortunately the outside is not magnetic, but I use some thin pieces of metal with double sided tape on areas that I want magnetic
What kind of sink is that?
Do you get alot of dust coming in when you are driving? how do you manage this?
I have another video on a product I used called rockblok, it seals the tailgate. Even with this product tho very small amounts do get in after a whole day on dirt roads
