Cedar is a good wood, however it won't last as long as a more dense hardwood like Ipe or Cumaru. Also, insects don't like Ipe or Cumaru because they can't burrow into it because of its density.

What about wood from Indonesia called jati? Is that any good for exterior siding? I live over here, and can't get access to wood quite like when I lived in the U.S. I'm building my house now and I want to put some siding on the exterior. Any advice would be helpful.

hello! im from indonesia and quite fond with the jati wood,its quite pricy but strong,its more suitable for furniture more than for a siding because its strong and immune with termites and fungi the best thing about it is it can withstand any kind of weather

@@muhammadfahmi7205 we used jati wood for all of our doors here in Bandung. Super strong. I didn't want to use wood for window frames. I used aluminum frame for windows. I did not use wood for exterior siding. I just used hebel bricks and concrete. It's a strong house.
