Thanks again for the really cool truck! I was more than happy to send you a few of the stock motors I have, I have a few of them!!! I am going to be working on this on the side along with other projects but I want to strip the body and and whiten up the wheels. That is a blast from the past. It was one of the first bashers. I remember seeing at the Hobby Expo in Chicago a long time ago. MRC had a small track setup and a small wall of cement blocks and they kept running it into the cement blocks to demonstrate its toughness.
Yup, I remember the promo video of it and it had them smacking it into the wall several time and it driving away with no issues! It is definitely a big ol chunk of truck! I am looking forward to driving it around but I have a lot of work to do first! I think stripping and redoing the body is going to take the longest! I think it was one of the first large scale kits marketed to the masses. Of course there were already 1/4 scale stuff but the market for them as very small and select. This brought bigger scale to everyone and I remember the promo video of it banging into he wall at full speed and driving away. It is a really cool and big truck! I agree it was a bit before its time. I am sure two motors pushing that big thing around ate up some nicad packs like skittles! I will be working on this on and off between projects to get it all stripped, repainted and cleaned up. I think it should be pretty cool to see it rumbling around the yard!
They were advertised a lot in the old RC Car Action magazines but I don't think they were widely distributed to local hobby shops. I think the local shops had to be an official reseller of MRC to order them or something along those lines. They had this, a stadium truck version the Baja King and a buggy version the Desert Thunder. They later made a Nitro Thunder King as well. It was something very bold and different to offer kits of this size back then!
I tried talking my mom into getting me one more than once but she laughed at me as usual. I was a very experience but mostly unsuccessful RC pitch man back in the day! She dreaded the new issues of the RC Car Action magazine showing up as she knew she only had a few hours or maybe a few days at best before I came out selling her on why she should get this one or that one for me! I never worked out really but I never gave up! LOL!
Wow, what a great gift! I'll never forget the first time I saw these trucks in an RC mag. "World Scale" as they were branded. They looked larger than life! I actually picked up a Thunder King a couple of years ago. I still haven't driven it, but I will. It needs a dedicated running video. 😊 I've been trying to get repop decals sorted, but any attempt I've made has fallen short. Same with the body, TBG says it's too big and they can't replicate it. 😢
It was a huge surprise both literally and figuratively! I remember seeing the promo ads for them and it hitting the wall several times and driving away. I immediately said that it the truck for me, sadly the price point was a bit more than my mom would even entertain at the time! To be fair I was a big pain in the rear around this time too so I really did not deserve it anyways! LOL! I would love to have a new body for it but I am sure it takes one heck of a vacuum forming machine to handle this big guy! I am going to strip it all down and repaint and repair/reinforce some spots and call it good enough.
Wow never seen one these before.. it’s like the grandfather of the X-maxx.. what an awesome gift 😊 look forward to see this one finished and running Addam going to be very cool.. 😊😊Pete
Yes, it was one if not the first large scale series offered to the masses. There were some smaller companies feeding very specialized cars for very small sectors but this was intended for anyone to get and drive. I remember the promo video of it being run full speed into a wall and driving away, you can see a still of it in the ads at the end with the "POW" painted on the wall. They actually smashed it into the several times during the demo! I will be working on this on the side to get it all cleaned up and looking the best I can. Stripping the body is going to take a while I am sure! I will get a follow up video done once I I get it finished!
What bohemeath two motors on the one diff really excited to see this restored and run I'd heard of these that reminds me I came across rad Max the other day someone had posted that old vhs I think one of these was briefly seen in that I watched couldn't believe how cringe it is now lol 👊
It is a big old guy for sure! It was one if not the first large scale RCs to be offered to the masses. While there were larger ones out there like the 1/4 scale models in very small, select groups these were meant for anyone to get and they made them tough. I will be working on this on side and will have an update on it once I get it all done!
Yes, there was a long period of time where these were big, one page ads in the RCCA magazines and I remember the promo videos of it smacking into the wall several times and it driving away like nothing happened! We probably don't see to many as the bodies and decals have not been reproduced as far as I can tell. So it makes it a whole lot harder to refurbish them. I will get it shined up the best I can!
It was a heck of a surprise. I thought I was loosing it when this giant box shows up and I cannot remember for the life of me what I had ordered!! Thankfully it was just a surprise and not senility! LOL! I will be working on getting it all stripped cleaned up and looking its best over the next few weeks in between other projects. I will get it back on here as soon as I can!

I will be working on this on side and will have an update on it once I get it all done!
It is a cool one and thankfully other than the body mount everything seems to be in decent shape. I doubt it will ever be 100% like it was new but I will get it cleaned up and polished up the best I can and get out and rip it around for a bit!
It is a pretty neat truck and it sure is a monster! I look forward to getting it looking the best I can, sadly it seems nobody has done reproduction bodies or decals for them so I will have to clean this on up and shine it up the best I can. I am sure it will look good once I am done, as long as I don't ruin it by accident! LOL!
Yeah, it does make the motors look rather small. I am sure the two motors and the large truck really ate up some nicad battery packs back in the day! I am sure I will get better mileage out of it now with the modern packs! I will get this one shined up the best I can have it back on here as soon as I can get it all worked out!
@@AddamsPlayground don't want to knoe how dissapointing this must have been. Using a 1200 mAh NiCd, running 3 minutes and then charge for 12 hours. Brst wishes for your runs, New technology should help a lot.

World Scale.... I wonder if the MRC MT10 series kits body mounts are the same, they look the same but the world scale might be bigger... What a gift man I hope you find all you need for it...
These are a bit bigger than the MT10 ones. I'd say the middle part is 2 - 2 1/2 inches wide and the top is close to 4 1/2 - 5 inches wide. Worst case is I have to mod the front mount to work with a plat and some small standards posts. I may have to get creative! I will be tinkering on this in between other projects as it is going to take some time to strip, paint and reinforce the body. The truck parts should not take too long, at least I hope anyways!!
It is a unique design and pretty cool little piece of RC history. I am pretty sure I remember an article where someone had mounted dual 770 motors in one back in the day, talk about a torque monster! I am looking forward to driving it around but I have a lot of work to do first! I think stripping and redoing the body is going to take the longest! I will get a follow up video done on it as soon as I can!
It is a big ol thing for sure! I still think "World Scale" is a bit weird but at the time so would 1/7th scale as it would have sounded odd as well. I am pretty sure it should be. Check in the 93 or 94 versions of the catalog. I am pretty sure they were selling the MRC kits and they should have had them in there. I know they were heavily featured on the back of the RCCA magazines for quite some time! Mostly this one and the Desert Thunder, the buggy version, They also had the Baja King, a stadium truck version and then the nitro Thunder King as well.
It has been forever since I have seen one, well never in person but seen one in general! I remember the promo videos of it smacking into the wall several times and it driving away like nothing happened! I tried talking my mom into getting one but I may as well have been asking for a Lamborghini LOL!!
It is a bigun! I will be tinkering with this in between other projects. I think it is going to take a good while to strip the body and get it looking good again. I am still hunting for a front body mount. I have to create my own as I am coming up empty handed so far. I will have an update on it as soon as I can!
Yeah, for quite some time they usually had a full page spread in the RCCA magazine and featured one or all of them. I really liked this one and tried pitching the idea to my mom more than once with no success. I really wanted the Desert Thunder, the buggy version but the Baja King was cool as well! All of them were super cool and it is really neat to own one now. I wish I could find a new or reproduction body but no luck so far. More than likely if I did find one it would be so outrageously priced it would not be worth it! I will get this one striped and repainted/repaired the best I can. I am sure it will definitely improve the look. I will be working on this on side and will have an update/run video on it once I get it all done!
Blimey Addam..... That thing is HUGE!! You could probably run someone over with that thing! Love it, what a cool and generous channel donation. The good thing about hard bodies is with time and effort they can be thoroughly restored to high standard using filler, glue, paint etc. This should be an enjoyable restoration, especially as it is pretty rare. Good job the tyres etc are OK, as sourcing some of those wouldn't be easy. I will have to check the guys channel out over the weekend. Cheers for sharing matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍
It is a bog one! It was a huge surprise but because I had no idea it was coming and also opening the box and seeing that giant truck in there was crazy. I really appreciate the gift and will get it shined up the best I can! Sadly the body is all lexan and will take some time to strip, paint and reinforce but it should look pretty slick afterwards. I am trying to find alternatives as well but not much luck for something of this stature! Thanks fully the rest of it of should take a lot less time and I will be tinkering with it along side several other projects. I will get an update and run video done as soon as I can. Right now trying to find the front body mounts but having no luck, I may have to fab something for it. Take care James and have a great weekend as well!
It is a cool truck and yes, parts seem to be very sparse! I may end up making a fix for the front body mount as I have yet to stumble across one. I will be tinkering on this in between other project to get the body stripped, repainted and reinforced. The work on the truck itself seem like that is going to be the quick part! I will get it back on here as soon as I can!
I had always thought these were interesting, but maybe money pits, being that they were expensive, and needed 2 of everything, and then if you wanted to use high end options, even more expensive. On the larger side, I just scored an oldie but goodie myself, on eBay, a new in box kyosho big brute like the one I used to have, but sold. I am excited, because I never thought I would find one completely intact, let alone give me the experience of building it new again, I guess if you wait long enough, you might get lucky. As for the price, not outrageous, but pretty steep. I always loved that truck, but at the time, I didn't have the know how to fix it's weak points. I do now, but I will have to do it with custom made remedies, as parts are just about non existent.
Yeah it was a bit ahead of its time. The price was a bit steep for the market and the dual motors, dual servos and large size would chew through some battery packs back then! Now you can get a decent run time out of it but I think it was like 5 minutes on a normal battery back then! Congrats on scoring your "lost soul" truck! I know the feeling, I sold off my first hobby grade truck and I finally got one to rebuild to replace it. I am still searching for one key part but I am in no hurry, I have been waiting for over many years now, a few more weeks/months is not going to kill me! LOL! I am sure you will have a big old grin when you drive it for the first time again!
Yup "World Scale"! There were some cool kits from them and the the Desert Thunder and the Baja King were both really neat as well. I think the big scale but poor battery options back then were not a great match. Two motors on a NiCad pack would have not resulted in long run times! Sometimes you are ahead of your time and the price was kind of steep too!
A dude in my neighborhood who had every RC you can think of had one of these. He used to beat the hell out of it, when I had my qd pumpkin and my old Blackfoot. It ripped compared to my rigs
I have seen videos and I I remember the old promo video of it smacking into the wall several times and driving off like nothing happened. I think getting the body stripped, painted and reinforced is going to be the majority of the work and will take some time. I look forward to seeing it rumbling around the yard!
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers yes he did, his turned out really cool. It was a light orange fade paint job on his. I think I'm going to stick with the red and white scheme.as it looks pretty classic on it!!
Ok, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY WOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!! That is the vintage 7th scale rc from the past. It looks to be larger than my Arrma Big Rock and FireTeam. Are you going to refurbished this, or are you going to put the Addams special touch on it. The last photo of the Thunde4 King was epic.
It is a big ol guy for sure! I am going to try and strip and repaint the body. It needs a few repairs as well but once painted I will be able to reinforce what is there. I will probably bring it over and size it up to your big trucks, I am not opposed to the idea of fitting a new body onto it for running around and saving the vintage one from more damage. The truck itself seems to not need much of anything other than the front body mount. I am looing for one but no luck yet. I may have to use some Velcro or custom make something for it until I can find a legit replacement.
I have looked at both already and a ton of other places and found nothing reproduction for them sadly. I am sure it is just the size, it probably take a pretty hefty vacuum forming machine to do these big bodies. I will strip it, repaint and it and reinforce it the best I can and hope for the best!
Wow! That is nuts! If you are interested in selling one let me know, you know my email! It is a really cool truck and I look forward to running it around! I don't even care if it is slow, just to see the big thing lumbering around will be quite enough for me!
Yeah, I like it but I am going to probably pass on it. I have spent too much money recently and need to chill for a while plus the holidays will be here in no time so I need to set aside some money for that! It feels like they are doing too many too fast but it is probably that there are too many $400 cars too fast! LOL! At least with the Tamiya re-res you get a mix of pricing when they release them!

Wow, this truck is super cool. I don't ever recall seeing this truck before so it's pretty rare.
@@AddamsPlayground I used to get the RC action mag so I'm not sure why I don't remember them lol
@@RDsRCReviews a lot of them were back page ads.
Really cool. Haven't seen one in years. Would have loved to had one.
I've been trying to get repop decals sorted, but any attempt I've made has fallen short.
@@AddamsPlayground 1/4 scale were in that old vhs rc video I mentioned sprint cars and some dragsters
@@rcuintheshed6981 Those things are nuts! They look super cool but boy they were pricey and still are!
This was the xmaxx of it's day.
Pretty much! There was nothing out that was bigger or running dual motors like this for some time!
I remember checking that truck out in the RC mags and Tower catalogs back in the day. Nowadays you never see them!
I will get it shined up the best I can!
that looks awesome. what a great gift 👍

Never heard of this, what a great donation 😮 It's bigger than my country 😅 Can't wait to see that truck blast around your garden 💪🤝
They were not heavily distributed and not sure at all available outside of the US and maybe Canada at the time. I tried talking my mom into getting me one when they came out but it fell on deaf ears as I was always trying to sell her on something cool! LOL! I will be working on this on side and will have an update on it once I get it all done!
Super cool RC for sure
Definitely will be really hard to find part's 😮
It is a cool one and thankfully other than the body mount everything seems to be in decent shape. I doubt it will ever be 100% like it was new but I will get it cleaned up and polished up the best I can and get out and rip it around for a bit!
Wow that's super cool 👌
It is a pretty neat truck and it sure is a monster! I look forward to getting it looking the best I can, sadly it seems nobody has done reproduction bodies or decals for them so I will have to clean this on up and shine it up the best I can. I am sure it will look good once I am done, as long as I don't ruin it by accident! LOL!
Awesome. What a monster. These motors look so small on it.
I like this one! Can't wait to see you fix her up!
It should be cool to see the big thing lumbering around the yard!!!
Very cool vintage rig! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
I will working on this around other projects as I think the stripping the paint part is going to take some time. I hope it doesn't but I imagine it is going to be slow going! I look forward to getting it shined up and out for some fun! I will get an update on it as soon as i can!
That's cool brother, ran that nitro again, it's still getting it, thanks again, love my nitros, have a great one my friend
It is a pretty cool truck, I look forward to seeing how well I can get that body looking, it needs a lot of help! I am glad you are still enjoying the T-Maxx, it is living a much better life down there with you! Take care and have a great weekend!
Dual motors for rwd, that is creative!
YOU GOT ONE OF THE WORLD SCALE TRUCKS!!!!
It is a big ol thing for sure! I still think "World Scale" is a bit weird but at the time so would 1/7th scale as it would have sounded odd as well. It was a cool surprise and I will be working on getting it all stripped cleaned up and looking its best over the next few weeks in between other projects. I will get it back on here as soon as I can!
@AddamsPlayground I'd cut down every tree in my city if I could get one of those! It's so awesome to see someone finally show one of these!

That is seriously cool. I have never even heard of the Thunder King. I wonder if it is in my vintage Tower Hobby catalog.
That’s a real cool truck I haven’t seen one of those for along time I would love to restore at some point
It has been forever since I have seen one, well never in person but seen one in general! I remember the promo videos of it smacking into the wall several times and it driving away like nothing happened! I tried talking my mom into getting one but I may as well have been asking for a Lamborghini LOL!!
That things a beast, look forward to seeing this in more detail 👍
It is a bigun! I will be tinkering with this in between other projects. I think it is going to take a good while to strip the body and get it looking good again. I am still hunting for a front body mount. I have to create my own as I am coming up empty handed so far. I will have an update on it as soon as I can!
@@AddamsPlayground i know you’ll knock this one out the park, im hoping to have a few projects ticked off over winter 🤞
Been looking at the old magazines and I seen/wanted this. Gotta see a running video.
👍 👍 👍
I like it! Never heard of it, but it's cool. Can't wait to see it fixed up and running. I bet parts are next to impossible to find.
1:36 that'd the "World scale right?" Yep , never mind.
@@AddamsPlayground didn’t Luke restore one a couple years ago??
Can’t wait to see your restoration
The wheels and body mounts weren’t fully white. They were a bit off white..
I believe tbg makes a body for that. If not Sabula tech might
I have looked at both already and a ton of other places and found nothing reproduction for them sadly. I am sure it is just the size, it probably take a pretty hefty vacuum forming machine to do these big bodies. I will strip it, repaint and it and reinforce it the best I can and hope for the best!
I have 3 of them and bodies
Wow! That is nuts! If you are interested in selling one let me know, you know my email! It is a really cool truck and I look forward to running it around! I don't even care if it is slow, just to see the big thing lumbering around will be quite enough for me!
Have you seen the release of the team associated Jay Halsey edition rc10, here we go again.
