- A bride and groom, whose wedding celebration ended in disaster after a fire killed more than 100 of their guests, have told Sky News they can no longer live in their community.
Revan, 27, and bride, Haneen, 18, say they feel they are "dead inside" despite surviving the blaze, which started inside a packed wedding hall in Qaraqosh, in the Nineveh province of northern Iraq.
Revan said he lost 15 members of his family in the fire, adding his bride "can't speak" after the loss of 10 of her relatives, including her mother and brother. Her father is also in a critical condition.

The real number of dead people is much higher than 100. Hundreds of people 'died' here....

It's true. Imagine losing your entire family and loved ones in the blink of an eye, quite literally. It's not just guilt these two are dealing with i feel, but just the sheer shock of it all, a human mentality can only handle so much dread after all. My condolences.

I can’t imagine the guilt that poor wife feels, even though it is absolutely not her fault in any way at all. I pray she finds peace and is able to live the amazing, beautiful life that her mom, brother, and all of her loved ones would want her to live.

Fireworks are banded in many communities. And it's too went on for decades..
This was 100% preventable. May those who loss their lives rest in peace. May those who were injured have a speedy recovery. May those who were affected find some way to get through this. May this serve as a leason to not try something like this in the future.

Note how they said “bride’s dress” not “entire venue”. Priorities were not put across firmly enough, this is horrible but blaming the organisers alone is half the picture
Yeah, they didn't think about the venue that much when they refused the fireworks. But the point is that they still refused it. The organizers are still completely at fault for the entire debacle.

That place was filled with people that they knew and loved. Looking at the film and wondering how many of them died there. Unimaginable

This tragic couple needs all of our prayers. They didn't cause this. They, too, suffered horrible losses. Their guests were invited to share in their happiness in what became their worst nightmare. My heart aches for them both.

They’re already leaving due to the community blaming them. If they truly were told that the pyrotechnics were electric and wouldn’t catch fire, then this is beyond devastating. I can’t even imagine.

could be worse. this was a tragedy caused by accident. imagine the feeling getting the news that 2 whole families died at a wedding becasue some stupid american, drone operator can't tell a wedding from a military camp. and nobody went to prison for it or no politician lost his seat over it. that strike probably caused hundreds of becoming america hating terrorists, and couldn't blame them for it.

This tragic event already happened similarly before. The station nightclub where the band Great White was having a concert also had the same fire display and it also just took seconds for the ceiling to catch fire after.

The building owner should had known better than to set off pyrotechnics inside the building with such low ceiling clearance & the chandelier decorations set ablaze. Reminds me of the disastrous fire inside a concert hall when the band Great White was holding a concert & pyrotechnics was used. There was a stampede to the doors & there was quite a few deaths including the band member who died in that fire.

She's an adult; she can marry a 60 year old man if that's her fancy. And they are Catholics not Muslims; Catholics don't do arranged marriages anymore.
Besides, they were clearly happy together but the fire destroyed what was supposed to be a special day. She lost more relatives than most of the others including her husband.

There’s very similar accident in Russia, in night club called “Hromaya loshad” 156 people died, after fireworks inside club was ignited. They suffocated in poisonous fumes. What a tragedy, all for fun sake😢 and this lovely couple should move on. They did nothing wrong. People, who rented this ballroom are responsible

The venue organizer offered the fireworks but bride n groom family refused to have them. On the actual wedding day, the venue organizer still set up the fireworks.

Firework inside a building never a good idea. Even a kitchen needs to be fire inspected for safety, so an indoor wedding + firework is best to be avoided.

l am so sorry for my previous comment. l just watched an interview with the groom and his dad. They say they were offered the fireworks but they refused. At the end the fireworks still put there. So it is not their fault but the fault of the hall owner who put the fireworks without the consent of bride and groom. Also the place doesnt provide fire extinguisher!!! imagine? No safety precaution for emergency! Also the main door was locked, that's why many people trapped inside. They have to exit through the kitchen door :'(

To blame them for this horrific tragedy is insane, they themselves lost family members. The young bride her Mother, brother I think her Father as well and others. The groom lost his father, sister, brother in law and others. So for the community to go after them is sickening to hear. They all were there because they wanted to be not because they were made to go. It was a tragic unbelievable tragedy and may they all Rest in Peace and this young couple find peace.

I don't even know what to say. Even to say "I feel your pain" can't even come out from my mouth because there's no way I will claim to feel what they're feeling at this moment because this level of sorrow that has come upon them is something I haven't seen in my entire life😢. Looking at the couple makes me speechless. His wife sitting there in deep sorrow and shattered to bits of pieces. She's so quiet and I'm pretty sure she's lost herself to the extent she's not even aware she's infront of a press. Truly there's no way they can continue to live in that community not even in that country and I totally support they relocate somewhere far away because everywhere will be filled with memories that can never die. Truth of the matter is that it will take a long time for them to heal and it's not a curse but that's reality but I know they'll recover slowly to some extent. My prayer for them is God to grant them healing and fill their marriage with happiness. It's not the end of the road❤
