  • Top Boy Season 3 or some of you may like to call it Top Boy Season 5 came to an end. Was it the right ending? In this video I go through the ending of Top Boy's final season and what happens with both Sully and Dushane. I also give some thoughts around how they should have had a few more episodes to flush out the storylines. Was it the right way to end Top Boy? I'm going to sit in the camp, I don't think so.

*Was it the right ending for Top Boy? I don't think so. I always felt 6 episodes was way too short for the final season. I felt as if they needed the 8-10 episode mark to really flush out the characters, storylines and plots. The Irish who were introduced could have had a more significant role, there are unanswered plots around Liverpool who in my opinion, should have come back for revenge for Curtis's death. I also feel there should have been a different ending, with one of Sully or Dushane ending up in prison. Dushane's heart problem seemed like it was brushed aside with a few mentions to this, but felt like a wasted storyline. But let me know your thoughts, I thought a 10 episode final season could have really given the time to flush the characters and storyline out which would have also made the final season not so rushed.*

I think the killer was definitely Jaq. She was done with all the bullshit. She lost her sister, she was seeing how much damage drugs were doing to the community and was shown the true colours of both Sully and Dushane - they never respected her, and she was dispensable. Whoever killed Sully would have been following him and knew he had the bag. They didn’t bother with that - it was only about ending Sully. Also, the fact Sully seemingly believed he was back on top - bag of food, no ops, no dushane, given a pass by Stefan - right before he died made that kill more vengeful for the shooter.

There is only 2 logical possibilities:
    1. Stef had a change of heart bc shooting someone in the face is always harder rather than just walking up to him and shooting from behind. He wanted to do that all along but Sully noticed him so that wasnt an option. He turned around followed him and shot him. But I believe it isnt him bc of the gun (Stefs gun was silver and shiny the one who pulled the trigger had an All Black gun).
    2. Jaq is probably and most likely the killer. The scene on the couch and her dead look kinda gives it away. Only one possible method to save herself and her nephew is to whack Sully. Motive is there and the stature of the figure that walked away does look like Jaq. The point with the gun could also be made here if you look close how Jaq walks during the heist and her gun it pretty much matches with the figure that walked away after shooting Sully.
But all in all I think this scene is to show us: It doesnt matter who killed him. It was due to come... There is no happy endings in this world guys never not in Real Life and also not in Movies/Series (Especially in NOT-Hollywood productions :D)

Even better than power wow especially when sully and Dushane were talking behind the gate on separates sides it was beautiful even his monster speech his speech to Stefan as well and Stefan really went down a path I didn’t expect and for him to not kill sully shows amazing depth to his character I knew coming into this season sully would get his own after all the shit he done I wanted him dead but I felt so bad when him and Dushane died. Such a poor way to go out imo, I did enjoy watching it as I’ve been a fan since summerhouse first aired however this season didn’t do it the way we wanted. Jaq and stef really had bad roles this season and stef was baited in the trailer to be a g and ended up being in a rom com. The ending would of been good if it shown jaqs face walking away then ended, but realisctally her story died when she had to take care of a yout she didn’t want. I still have hope in a few years stef will have his own spin off but tbh I’m not sure, jaq loves the streets until this season cos her sister died jaq would of been a great spin off also. Ranell grown up and stef learning from him and becoming partners would be sick so let’s keep fingers crossed this isn’t the end of top boy.

I reckon there could of been more flushed out as you mentioned in your video! My thoughts: Appreciating it for what it is - I think people wanted to see something similar or better than season 2 as Top Boy has just got better after every season. From local, to global and back to the estate the trailer pointed to an ending, a conclusion which I don't feel "sold" the idea of an all out action like we saw in season 2. The motives and goals of both Sully and Dushane grew apart and this season was for sure the breaking point of that. The gang not being handled right by Sully, Dushane losing his "cool", Jacq battling loyalty to the road or family, etc. All these lead to the characters (which we saw in season 2) being exposed to the full! People got to appreciate what is represented, I think we are meant to look back at the decisions and actions of all those involved and the consequences of mixing loyalties, following the street code one minute, then not and the effect upon those involved in the main characters lives. This is TOP BOY, set in London - Representing something of that "life", "Look at where we're from, if we ain't monsters we are food" - Sully. The season is more of a harsh reality of that lifestyle which catches up to you and that ultimately, if you play with fire you go get yourself burnt boi!

Its not Jaq. She had made peace with dying and said so openly in the cafe, people saying that she did it out of fear makes no sense. She still went with the bags to meet sully, and she still went to meet him after being robbed of them. Its not stefan and anyone even trying to argue it is is a moron. Youve just had a pivotal scene in which the whole point was him refusing sully and that way of life, and hes only just learnt to hold a gun, but he changes clothes and then walks up and expertly pulls off a hit on sully because he suddenly changes his mind ? Looking at the shooter who looks like a white male, and from a logical angle, i think its obvious that the shooter is an irish hitman. I think the show was showing that his past misdeeds were always going to catch up with him. He thought he was topboy because he thought he had settled everything. But someone was always gonna retaliate against him. Do we really think the irish cartel was killed off as a threat by gunning down 2 people in an old persons home ? Nah theyd have tracked him down and figured it out, i think it was done on purpose by the writers and thats why they were gone by episode 3, they would not have written the show that badly

She knew sully will come after her, becks said to jaq u can be normal unless u give this life up, and yeah jaq was with becks the night before with the same coat, becks asked is everything OK, jaq replies with confidence and pain in her eyes everything will be OK, there's a reason why they should us that scene... so for her to live a normal life how do you think she'll do it? No, she wont kill him in front if people, but when the risks are high, why is she gonna kill him period ? The show ends, the people around her dont, she still faces retaliation if anything is done to sully..i think her way of getting out was facing death and knowing sully wont go after the family. He has never killed anyome as collateral so why start now ? Jaq would have known that it starts and finishes with her. Her saying its ok can mean 100 different thimgs, like you say, the pain, shes telling beck that she is fine but perhaps resigned to jaq herself dying. I agree with the walk. What was funny was all the people with high expectations who expected Ra’nell and Leteisha Wright the new black panther to actually come back and be on the show😂 I didn’t have high expectations. I pretty much got what I expected and wanted. Expected both Dushane and Sully to die at some point in the final season. They couldn’t both be top boy and how could they chose one over the other? I'm guilty of being addicted to Top Boy. I can't see myself watching season 3- the final season at least 20 times like I did seasons 1 and 2. I do see an opportunity for another season 8-10 episodes. Not all loose ends were tied, and some new loose ends were created. Dushane and Sully are done. Ashley and Kano are onto better thangs! But there is a next generation of strong characters that can be well developed. Steph and Erin are both inherantly deep solo and together. Steph can have flash backs of moments with Jamie sharing wisdome that were never aired before. Jaq can create her own empire even though she wrestles with the game, but knows nothing else. Vee can return with her own empire, ready to take out Jaq and kidnap the child (an older brat). It's time for Si to shine. He has strength, potential and lots of skin in the game. There's room for much more high-tech which was under explored and under utilized. There's room for more unconventional international trade and distribution. Lizzy and Life can be the big time suppliers living in high places. The drugs can be more diverse and updated. There's lots a room for more and next level, next gen. Change the name to Top G. (Girl, Gangster, Game...) Just sayin'!

It just shows there was never gonna be a happy ending for people like Dushane and Sully and anyone that follows. Jamie, The Moroccons, The Irish or any other "Top boy". So them giving Stefan chance to not trapped in the same cycle releases him from the futility of traplife that we been watching our characters go through and suffer only to have their life abruptdly taken away and for it to all mean nothing at the end. Two things I loved:
Jacq’s own dealer caused her sister’s death, taking the bags caused Kieran’s and she attributed to Dushane’s and directly to Sully’s. She ends up by default “Top Boy” if she wants the title. 😅
Most powerful thing I saw was Sully could’ve shot Stefan through his hoodie holding his glock the entire time but was willing to accept his fate. He was already mentally exhausted from it all & was going to let Stefan have it.
Stefan would’ve shot him and saw his gun fall out of his pocket while he held it.

I thought it was jaq too, down to the walk and the hoodie/ jacket, the build, some suspect it’s Irish but no I do think it is jaq ,
the leader of the Irish was gone and it wasn’t necessarily a meeting with sully so he wouldn’t inform anyone, plus the motives of jaq seems to also align, with sully gone she no longer needs to look over her shoulder, no one is dealing out of their crew

Jaq is a professional killer or did you mean a white killer took out Sully? Jaq has access to the same guns that organised crime families do. They have silenced weapons just like “professional hit men”. The Irish family would of been less likely to find Sully than Jaq since Sully is in their own area. The Irish mobster had to be shown their area by Sully to see their operation meaning he didn’t know where he was situated. They had to draw him out when they introduced themselves initially. Definitely Jaq. That wraps up her story giving her the good ending. She took out her only remaining threat so she can leave the road life behind and focus on her family. It’s a shame that they couldn’t of hand held some of the audience who couldn’t read between the lines and so they wouldn’t see any ambiguity. It’s not like the Soprano ending. Lol. Anyone paying attention knows Sully’s killer and it will be confirmed in interviews in coming months for those that actually needed to be told. Just like the interview when Ghost confirmed he was dead after Power finished.

Ghost got shot by Tariq (Power)......we can always expect these type of characters to be taken out by those in and around the game. So no surprise Sully took out Dushane and then Sully got taken out by Jaq, or Stefan or guy who he stuck the gun in his mouth.. as soon as he got in the car I knew he was gonna get shot
