Have observed malignant NPD through 5 generations, not tied to allegedly bad parenting. Children were adored with devoted parents yet still became malignant narcissists. t would be interesting to have open minded scientific studies for genetic inherited traits for this.
I suspect a lot of it is genetic in some cases. We know for example that with antisocial personality disorder, those with ADHD or schizophrenia are much more likely to be diagnosed with it. As it is, the DSM classifications may actually be somewhat reductive in themselves. The ICD (the system used in most countries outside the USA) has scrapped all of the old personality disorders and replaced them with a dimensional model. The traits for NPD and ASPD under the DSM system are instead all captured under the "Dis-social" dimension with the ICD, viewing them as different shades of the same thing.

what a terrible disorder. Not just for others but for those who have this. what fucked up parenting to make a child feel they have to be perfect or they're garbage, sheesh...

New classification. BAD SEEDS.
that's precisely the problem: adoring rather than loving
