It's such a charming thing when you sing a jazz song with your own piano arrangement. Looking forward to more of your arrangements to accompany a singer.
Nice sentiment in that song. Liked good point about the sharp nine fitting the melody.. fake books fall down on alt chords.. is it a sharp nine b5 etc. Oh well the world goes on.. got all my dominant dimished down .. when I get some confidence in in them I'm going to do a vid.of it.
I don’t understand what exactly you were doing at 7:30 when you played 2-5-1. What’s considered the one there and also what was the difference between the variations of playing the 2-5-1 that you did?
The 1 chord is Eb. The key of the song is Bb but I'm talking about a 'temporary' 2-5-1 in Eb. In the Key of Eb, the V chord can be an E7 because it is a tritone away from the real V which is Bb. The E7 can be preceded by it's II chord - Bm7. damn good question.
Actually on the first measure you couldn't change to a Cmin11 based on what Ted told me. It needs to have a lead note that is not the same as the previous or what you're going to. In this instance that would be the F melody note which you just played.
I am a beginner so I play this piece out of the fake book with just melody in right and chords in left as written (no inversions, etc.). Can you tell me what you are doing with your left hand? in general are you playing 1 and 5 of the chord in the left hand and 3 and 7 in the right? Do you somehow just squeeze the melody note in on the right hand too ? I need to rewatch but it appears the melody notes don’t have to played all the time as the top note but may appear in the middle of your right hand chord sometimes? Sorry for all the questions ;)
pwilliams56 try this video ruclips.net/video/LkWQDSo26wc/видео.html I try to keep the melody on top. Sometimes I play 1-5 with LH and 3-7 with RH but there are LOTS of voicings possible.

kwixotic thanks for your comments. Totally agree with what you said about the cm11 chord. Ted's a great teacher and even though you can get a lot of info from RUclips and other sources, having a teacher who can guide you is really important. Hi to Ted !
Your voice is pure gold
