Just as an added note to my post, this thing once mixed doesnt last. Mix it and use it. Within a week it turns yellow, within two weeks it syarts to turn brownish red and that is it. Good luck.
It is a great developer. Semi compensating giving box speed and works great on most films. The other magical developer from Agfa is Studional, presently manufactured by Bellini in Italy called Hydrofen. I believe Foma makes something similar too, so if due to globalism and Kodak becoming Chinese and then perhaps British tje supply of D76 or similar ceases, Hydrofen is a good replacement. Atomal works great with Foma films.
due to budget constraints I tried Kentmere 400 in Rodinal .... YUK ... but in Atomal it looks GREAT !!! .... at 1 to 1 dilution the grain is quite small and lots of sharpness .. I use a Nikon F4 with my Nikkor AF 50mm f1.4 and Nikkor AF 28-105 D lens :)
@@georgeosier5459 Yes! Kentmere 400 in Rodinal is a terrible combination. But love it im Atomal! Also the 28-105 is a great hidden gem lens! Thanks for watching 🍻
I've been using A49 for a few years now and have never seen that funky color when mixing part A! It is always colorless for me, or white when adding subsequent parts. This is my favorite "standard" developer and it really handles Fomapan 400 and Kentmere 400 brilliantly. I think modern incarnations have little to do with the A49 of yesteryear - it's now using CD-2 (or was it CD-3?) as the main developing agent, but I wouldn't hold that against it, it's a superb developer for taming those grainy films. The 6 weeks for stock solution is very much on the safe side. In practice, when stored in a glass bottle and topped with Protectan, it keeps for months. The only problem I have with it is that when re-used it tends to form some black precipitate which I always need to filter before use.
I guess the funky colour is an Adox thing, especially if, as you say, the main developer has changed between A49 and the modern Atomal 49. If I could get my hands on this more regularly, it would become a standard for me, even supplanting D-76! It is good to know about the shelf life also, and thanks for watching 🍻
@@AlexLuyckxPhotoActually I'm using Atomal's A49 (and not some other brand of A49) and it never went pink on me. :) It may be something in your water (I'm always using demineralized), but I guess if it doesn't hurt the developer, then who cares.
Nice! Based on the amount of developer reviews I have read on your website/blog I imagine you have a "wall of developer" where you visit it and depending on your mood you pick one for the roll you want to develop!
Part A makes for a beautiful Orange Crush soda-colored solution but... "Don't drink the Rodinal" I guess 😂 Seems like a nice all around dev, to bad Argentix is our of stock. Does FotoImpex restrict the shipping of Atomal to Canada?
Man, that Kentmere looks great in this developer!
I know right!! Thanks for watching 🍻

Thanks a lot Alex! Informative as usual, much appreciated!
Thanks for the kind words and for watching 🍻
Thanks Alex!😉👍

Yes! Love Studional! I just released a video review under the Compard R09 Spezial branding which is made by Bellini! Thanks for watching 🍻
I hope one day we can photograph in 3D and print images will be available and cheap. Thanks for this wonderful video.❤️👏👍
We actually can photograph and print 3D images today! It’s time consuming right now but fully possible! Thanks for watching 🍻

Looks nice, but I prefer Adox XT-3. Longer shelf life after mixing and great for pushing.
XT-3 is great also! Have a pouch at home! Thanks for watching 🍻
Very interesting developer. Really puts some punch into Kentmere 400.
I know, it’s how it rendered K400 that sold me on K400! Thanks for watching 🍻

Yeah! I love watching the colour changes! No, Freestyle doesn’t restrict shipping to Canada for Atomal! Thanks for watching 🍻
