As the great Oscar Wilde said, " We're all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." As the great Roger once said, " I know I'm in the gutter, but it's all for me channel."
Having tried numerous paper developers, I can say that the Adotol Konstant is the best in my opinion. Gorgeous tones, deep, rich, cool blacks and just keeps forever, unlike Foma developers whic oxidize rather quickly after diluting.
Some really nice images! My back doesn't like getting down on my belly, but I can use my TLR to get those low angles a little easier. Not familiar with that film, will have to look into it, if it's available in North America. Cheers!
I do a lot of scorpion macro photography and my favorite way of getting low to the ground without having to lay prostrate is to get on my knees, fold down low to where my abdomen is resting on my knee tops, and then position my head low to the ground and tilted sideways to see into the viewfinder. It's the only way I can do it without my belly getting stabbed by cactus thorns and other spikey bits in the sand.
I don't fancy myself laying on the ground, whether because I'm out of shape or because I dislike getting dirty. I bought a 90° extension scope finder thing for 35mm that makes low or awkward shots far easier. Been using it on digital since I don't have an articulating screen.
I would love to see you try the Adox CMS 20 with the Adox chemicals. Apparently the level of detail that you can get is insane. It would be interesting to see how large of a print you could make with it.
Seconded this! It’s interesting in that requires its own developer so it’s a little prohibitive for me to try casually. Would love to see a video review of it though!
@@MrRom92DAW I'd also like to see how big a 35mm negative can be enlarged (16×20" maybe ?), would be a great comparison to regular speed medium format films (400 speed MF vs 35mm CMS 20).
Very inspiring video Roger. Just shows there are images to be had all around us. Great idea to get down low. Perhaps you should print the one at 8.33 of the broken kerb, if it’s contrasty enough? Burn in the corners?
@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss Thé two you printed look stunning, greatly enhanced by not all being in focus. The simplest subjects make the best images don’t they.
Real nice work Roger. Loved that bit about the Victorian shoe brusher. It's one I never came across (I love Sherlock Holmes and that period romanticized). So you know the day will come, when you won't dare do all that laying down on the streets, as you won't be able to get up again, heh heh. Be well my friend!
Tell ya what, Roger, you meet some lovely people out and about dontcha. I love some of the Adox stuff, I follow a photographer who works at the Adox labs and some of the stuff she posts is fascinating. Also, if I get down on my belly, the rest of me is still two feet off the floor XD
You mean before they go under the enlarger? I have a rocket blower and slide it under the enlarger carefully. Sometimes I have the enlarger light on soni can see the negative as it slides in. With the light you can see any bits on the neg. But like us all I get the dust fall on the neg sometimes.
Thank you Roger. I just wanted to understand, do you use any liquid to clean your negatives. Sometimes blowing out the dust, doesn't enough. Have a great weekend.
@@muharremaltintas I remember in the past there used to be film cleaning fluid which was carbon tetrachloride. It was banned because it was highly toxic and I don't know if there is a modern replacement.
@@Tom_RUclips_stole_my_handle Thank you for the info. I read that in somewhere, as well. But i also read some people use isopropyl alcohol for this purpose. But i didn't try. I need to have experienced people's advices.

Triffik video, Roger. Loved the images but particularly the one of the dark railing tops (boy scout emblem err... type thingy). I've had some Adox print developer for a while - must get my finger out and give it go. Atb.

I loved the one with the broken fence wire.
Finally, someone is taking pictures of the things that I see at work every day.

I'm not a fan of getting on my belly for shots, but I do love those low angles. This is where a good waist level finder really shines.
I find belly shots easier than on my knees. Not as clean though lol

@ 07:56 here in my home city there are only 2 or 3 victorian city houses that still have original boot scrapes intact
You're sharpening your craft, Rog. Not just the photography, but the videography as well. Well done.
Thanks Ferris.
Very nice bit of work there Roger 👍
You are a professor of art in the darkroom ! RS. Canada
Thanks Richard. I try!

Thanks for the inspiration, quality content as per.

Thanks!! Forgot I used to sometimes hunt for similar types of images 'long ago'. You inspired me to go out and do it again sometime soon.

He has already tried Agfa Copex Rapid, which is similar to CMS 20.
I think at the end of the video I put a link to that film. Cms 20

@@MrRom92DAW In fact five rolls AND the developer for all are cheaper than five rolls of any other Ilford film bought in the UK.
que gran trabajo me ha encantado el video un saludo desde BARCELONA ESPAÑA.
Thankyou
The F90 with the grip is really really but really nice to held in the hand, no strap no bag.....
Yeah it completes the camera. Makes it feel more solid to hold. It has the button on the side for portrait mode but I don't use it
This kind of photography makes you appriciate modern conviniences like flip screens.
Definitely!

I was going to burn in a vignette on those prints. Decided not to but thought was there

I’ve got the Adox liquid stop bath and I like it

Maybe Ilford ?
Still reasonably priced.
Both are much better than Kodak's acetic acid stop, that thing smells awful.
Quick question..If you could only have one, 120 black and white film for ever, what film would you pick? thanks
HP5. Solid, good all-rounder and available pretty much in most photographic shops on the streets. (incase you need a roll on the quick)

8:32 in the gutter but still cleaning away the mess a bit, hihi

Hi

As i am interested in developing my own film ,but have been put off by not knowing how to use and dispose of chemicals

Speak to your local tip Alan. Usually the stop and fix is the one to bottle up and take to local waste area.
Chemicals, particularly developer, do oxidise once opened but the trick is to transfer the contents to smaller bottles as you begin to use it up thus excluding as much air as possible.
" on me Belly, Low Down Stuff" -- how ENVIOUS I am of you Mate - you don't have a 'Stoma Bag' on your gut !
Getting a bit cranky now Pete when I get up though. Knees click a bit mate ha
I don't think your supposed to take "street Photography" so literally . still, some of the gutter shots would be interesting with a pin whole camera.
You know that's a good idea.. Pinhole
Not street photography but a good video.
Because no focus on people. 👍
Only 36 shots??!! Hasn't Mr Elgar thought you anyfink about loading film???
Ha ha ha... I could have got a few more
Had to mute it. Just talk and let us hear the ambient noise and skip the ear torture.
