Incredible battle, so much to really analyze and breakdown - the techniques used, car handling characteristics and behaviour, driving lines, differences in power and weight and their effect in the midst of battle.
Simply because it is made for just 1 fast lap. Totally different class (Time Attack) than the „close-to stock“-Porsche and BMW (track modified, but usable on streets) and even the heavily track-modified S2k and RX-8
I never knew they did NA battles! I’m so in love with the sound of this race, just pure engine power and throttle. I’m too poor at saving money right now to afford boosting my car so this a real breath of fresh air, knowing these guys really built NA cars to race. So used to the sound of a turbo LSX that I’m so glad I didn’t hear it once the whole video 🎉
That's why they're given starting grid in front of everyone else. M3 because of being the heaviest while not having much power advantage is most front, with S2000 starting 2nd with much lighter weight but also at power deficit compared to rest of the field.
DK great driving skills kept that s2000 in 2nd. If it had only another 50hp for the straights, and maybe a softer rear or more stroke, it would be a weapon.
It's kinda funny that the driver of the GT3 is short shifting by like 500-1k rpms on every single gearchange. All the other drivers seem to be absolutely flogging it, but the 911 driver is going at like 8/10.

Probably an instruction for the show for it to not get that boring, since even if the FD didn't push that much it can definitely win this race. The one who misunderstood this thing is probably people who watch Best Motoring for the first time, they think everyone is already giving their all while the producers know that the car tier is just too much of a gap to get serious.
I was very impreesed with the J's racing S2000!It is the only with it's oem manual transmission(mot with an auyomatic dct or aftermarket sequential gearboxes) and with just it's tuned 4cyl engine competing with high rev V8s or hybrid 3rotor engines!!(a 3rotor engine is like a 4stroke 4.0lit engine!!).I was expecting to finish last but it was 2nd behind a car with 5-6 times its price,double the engine,dct e.t.c..GT3 RS tuned is other class car.I believe a tuned cayman would be more fair. But what a great race,i really enjoyed it!!!!
How tuned or cheap do you think that S2000 is? Does it even have the standard engine? I mean, getting 320bhp out of 2.0 liters isn't very reliable. That Porsche is factory spec.
@@mrnicktoyou The s2000 is running its f20c engine with a stroker kit(J's has 3 options 2.2/2.4/2.7 kit.The 320ps engine i am pretty sure is the 2.2 kit.The 2.4 kit outputs 345+ hp and the 2.7 kit 365hp. If you think that an S2000 like this is even close talking about cost of purchase and tuning you need to check the price of a GT3RS...... Sure it'not cheap to build an s2000 like this but nowhere close to a GT3RS.
It depends, the stoch F20c makes 250hp in Japan and it‘s a very reliable engine as long as you always check the oil and keep it topped up. Making 50-70 more hp with a built engine doesn‘t sound to much for the engine itself. Ofc miltiple parts and internals have to be changed to gain that power NA but for the engine itself it‘s not an issue. There are turbo F20C out there with 600+ hp already.

I think another reason is the reverse grid - placing the faster cars in the back so they have to fight through the field. When a slower car holds up a faster for a bit, you get to see: 1. How much faster the faster car is and the technique that they use to overtake the slower car 2. When the overtake is completed, how fast they can catch up to the next car A similar excitement can be seen in real racing when the faster cars starts at the back. Also another part to the "fun" - is the unknown. I think with real racing, we always kinda know which cars/drivers are faster so we know what to expect. Here - there is a much bigger unknown before the race starts which adds to it. Unfortunately, there no real good way of doing this. Two extremes would be: 1) dramatically different car designs (where the car decides the winner) or 2) make all the cars the same (where the driver decides the winner)
This is what I love about the rx7, Performed like an absolute beast then freaking dies right after lmao. Damn rotaries are alot of trouble but the times when they actually run, they RUN!
This one doesn't really count though. The issue wasn't the engine, the issue was the lack of cooling. As the dude said multiple times in the video, it's built for one lap time attacks in the winter. When you're chasing tenths of a second you want to get rid of as much weight as possible and a full cooling system takes up a lot of unnecessary weight for the task, so he got rid of it. Do this to any of the other cars and you would have the same result. Him bowing out of competition is nothing to do with the rotary platform, but 100% on how the owner built the car and for what purpose.

The M3 and S2000 have an incredible numeric disadvantage. Especially against the GT3.

Why is this so much more fun to watch than actual racing? Maybe because every car is different! Variety is the spice of life
