That shifter setup looks insane. Huge respect to the driver/mechanic/owner doing it all, guy is a madman but in the best way possible. Quite a cool background too
That RX-7 impressed me, sadly it can't run too much, but the S2000 and RX-8 totally impressed me, I'd say they're the most reliable of all of these, I'd like to see more of the Porsche, though, it looked reliable too, but too little footage.
Exactly why I made my track s2k LS powered and NA after it died. F20/22 is great and all but the chassis could have easily be made with a v6 or v8 and handle it fine. The f20s have issues with bore going out of round if you track them hard for a season. F22 is even worse due to rod/stroke ratio. The rotating assembly for a JDM F20C is as much as an LS shortblock which makes over 2x power and hilariously 3x peak torque of a k24, while at idle! And 30kg more, retaining 50:50, as the weight increase is actually in the gearbox, not really much in the motor. NA ALL DAY. Just don't skimp on the cooling. Rotaries burn so much damn fuel that is why they get so hot.
Insane cars. And insane, that the RX7 won, despite having no slicks mounted. More than 2,5 seconds faster than the GT3 RS, although much less power and on RE 050s. Sick!
RX7 is a one hit wonder though and practically useless, 'winter only' lol fuck that, go to the track and do one lap and wait for half an hour, stupid stuff. But whatever, it's fast, but I'm sure you can make a faster car with a better NA engine that runs cooler and will go laps.
I think back in time honda was so visceral create the s2000 so risk to drive for common people even with big wheels and overfender body inst stable and also need a wing to glue the tail to the ground. Compares to gt86 its totally agressive to the driver while the gt86 its do gentle with the driver Diferent ages of automotive culture. When he said the FD ran a 55 second lap at Tsukuba I was like I know who was going to win this!
Then the warning Temps came on and the car retire. Dude would have to spread the gap in 2 laps before the car overheats
