Hey guys! This is my first ever attempt at a survival series, so please give me all the feedback you might have. And thanks for watching! If you like old Minecraft, join my discord where we talk all about it! discord.gg/93raujwWMx
I used to see people call those failed large oak trees "balloon oaks". Something about a tree made to have branches being generated with none has always been so interesting to me.
the alpha/ beta variants so different that say 1.16 for example and much nicer. burning stuff so much better too lol. oh yea i always call those mega trees
The way you build your houses is so cool to me-- it made me realize i never build actual houses! I've built glass domes, cave houses, ships, everything but an actual house.
Love the beginning intro!! Really reminds me of the last beta player, except with a more nostalgic feel than creepy. Can't wait to see more let's plays from you Mong!!
26:13 I know what you mean. My parents had bought me the game on Christmas of 2011, so I had only technically played the release version of Minecraft, unless you count the PCGamer Demo. What's missed most for me is the RUclips content surrounding the game. I used to love watching Let's Plays, such as PBat's Minecraft Survival series. I probably fit in the nostalgia-seeking category quite well, as it was my favorite game for a long time. Newer updates for Minecraft have completely changed the experience, making it too hard to keep up. Mojang won't stop adding features that are both annoying and pointless. Eventually, I just started playing older versions for fun before finding out that there was an entire community that played these older versions.
13:00 yep, from aesthetic point - totally agree, and man, my first experience of playing minecraft was something like this: lil me, in 2011 (I was 8 years old), wandering around a forest aimlessly till night, then accidentally dropping in water pool with a skeleton in it, panicking and attempting to escape, but totally failing and inevitably dying. What a fantastic game, I thought, and well here we are now 13 YEARS later, man o man time flies huh
Mog I love your style of building. It always brings me back to the glory days of minecraft and i wish i could recreate your some of your builds in my own worlds
Nice video, really enjoyed this new style. It’s cool to see the process behind the world rather than just finished builds. Also gotta mention how awesome that intro is again;)
Hey man! Just wanted to say that I am stoked for this new series! I discovered your channel while looking for Beta Minecraft content and I have been a fan ever since. Good luck with this new series and I hope it lasts a good while!
I love the new series Mongster! I thought it was hilarious how you were ranting about the ponds, then you find one right above your base XD But I was thinking, maybe you could actually use it! Have it drain water down into that little garden area on the pier. Could make a nice waterfall. Can't wait for episode 2!
It's such a miracle that Minecraft has C418's music... He's just so good with what he does. And the music fits right in, like a crucial piece of puzzle
That Excuse cover is beautiful, thanks for doing this type of videos, I love the mix between cinematography and normal let's plays, such an interesting content niche!
Gotta appreciate the love you have for those old versions. I just love watching people enjoy what makes they happy. Keep up the good work, brother. I will be patiently waiting for the next episodes. 💪
This survival series has filled me with nostalgia; The choices of music is lit, And the commentary is both nice and chilling, And the speeding up building is also good. I will look forward for it from now on.
I really appreciate you listing all of the music you used in this video in order! Also your production quality is really good, can’t wait to see more content from you thanks.
Hey Mong! Reminds me played for hours in Pocket Edition back in the days while a kid. That feels so sadly and charming both at the same time when you don't see the sky and the fog covers the unknown. This feeling makes this nonsensical game so full-fledged. You should keep it up for a few episodes at least because it is promising yet and then we'll see
I recently started 2 survival series of my own and when your video was recommended to me I decided to watch it. Never played early versions of Minecraft (I started playing during release 1.4.2) but I really enjoyed the first episode and hope to see more in the future! I know you hate those water ponds but you could easily turn that into a waterfall towards your dock. :)
Never heard if this challenge before. You're gonna crush it Mongster. WOAH WAIT THIS IS AN IRONMAN SERIES?! A DEATH ENDS THE SERIES! Whoo Doggy! Go 2 it!
@@Mongster83oh nice. Heard of the lower ore spawns thing in negative chunks, never actually looked into it though. Gotta say, love your editing style here! Going to watch a 3rd time while at the Passive Mob System in my Alpha world. Looking forward to your next episode!
your content is actually so chill and relaxing, and combined with the kinda versions of minecraft you play, it really feels like the good old days, i kinda heavily dislike most modern minecraft content these days, so this is really refreshing, please keep doing this, i look forward to more!
This is excellent second monitor content. I see you have a new episode of this series out. I'll watch that, then queue up a bunch of your stuff while I'm grinding in RuneScape tonight.
I love this! I think this version is further back than I'd personally go, but beta just feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the chaos of the newer versions
19:42 I remember dying and losing all my stuff so many times falling into little holes that led to lava like that in Alpha and Beta Minecraft. After losing a bunch of diamonds I had mined and all my armor I really started getting paranoid about little holes and checking where I was stepping at all times.
Great video and great build! The building style fits to the older version, when it was more trendy to build minecraft buildings in minecraft instead of trying to replicate realistic buildings in minecraft. But what I love most is the lighting in the older versions! But I am still grateful for the quality of life changes we got over the years while watching this
Great video! Cant wait for more episodes! My only feedback would be on the music though, to either change it to original Minecraft music, or take it out completely as i feel it messes with the atmosphere of beta
You should try doing a beta let’s play with OG Mo’ creatures, more creeps and weirdos, and humans plus mods. I wanna see if those can be used on the beta craft launcher, kind of like the OG aether adaptation
I still remember my first day in beta 1.3. I wanted to make a basic hole in a hill for my first few nights, so I start mining and guess what? I hit the damned underground water pond and the entire thing gets flooded. Ever since I have hated those things.
my only request is to use block replacement bypass to build some sick builds with cactus, sugar cane, etc. since you can! wishing this series some longevity xD
Allright 3rd watch. Any chance you can tell us more stories about your Minecraft experiences? Like the first time you went back and played Beta, your first build, maybe playing with friends. Be nice to hear some stories if you have any to share. Also man, just realized I don't build houses like you and CCMcgregor. My houses are a bix with a roof. You guys actually have rooms and stuff. Gotta step my building up. Lol
Yeah sure man I can think of that in the next one. If you’re really craving for this kind of stuff though, my stream vods are full of it. I appreciate your frequent patronage nonetheless it means a lot man
@@Mongster83 Ok stream vods. If you want to do it, thats up to you(I'd appreciate it though!) Streams are tough for me to sit through, but I'll give them a shot.
Well no it’s not incredibly challenging and I’m not under a ton of pressure. This is more meant to be a fun challenge. Older versions are also more dangerous and there’s a reason I’m calling it the double negative challenge
Hey guys! This is my first ever attempt at a survival series, so please give me all the feedback you might have. And thanks for watching!

amazing video man, great looking house too, the mixer of materials make it look unique.

Thanks man! I just love the song, I used a piano cover this time.
'Excuse' fits that lonely vibe really well
18:18 This Jump Scare is so legit. Happens to me more often than id like to admit!
Certified Banclam moment
a chicken once jumped off the terrain hurdling at my face and it scared me

Oh now this is one of the best edited lets plays ive seen for beta minecraft so far, loving this series Mongster!!

Hi Mongster I’m so excited to see your new series!
Mog I love your style of building. It always brings me back to the glory days of minecraft and i wish i could recreate your some of your builds in my own worlds
Feel free dude! The trick is not worry about the details so much and envision what you want from the base and not so much how you want it to look.
PLEASE use triple or quadruple chests, theyre so cool and id kill to have them in later beta versions
You can even make penta chests. I have them in my single player Lp world and they are very cool.
Keep up the good work, i desperately need more beta survival content and can’t really found any long lasting series . (Subbed and belled instantly )
I actually use those water puddles to build a well on, saying that, i will have to cover it up to make it look good from the surface
That’s a pretty good idea
so satisfying and fun to watch. love it and the style!
Thank you 🥹
Nice video, really enjoyed this new style. It’s cool to see the process behind the world rather than just finished builds. Also gotta mention how awesome that intro is again;)

It’s almost in order- it’s in order of composer first, and then in order of which their works appeared, if that makes sense. Glad you enjoyed!
So excited for this series! Feels like a lovely throwback to my childhood 🥰

I would love this mine beta community going foward
huge nostalgia for pocket edition comin back here. love this
Loved the house! Simple yet so good looking.
27:14 I used to think that sheep were goats. I was stuck with MCPE Alpha 0.2.1 Lite, so it was only sheep and pigs.
Please continue the series! I enjoyed every bit of it
Great intro. Gave me chills
Loved the video! Hope to see more of this series
17:10 well done cave edit with appropriate music
Awesome video, Mongster.

wonderful intro montage, and smooth transition with the music.

That bit about PE was so real. I remember being thrilled when they finally added caves
I play Better Than Adventure and your video inspired me to do more building. I also really like the background music. Just subscribed!
fabulous,we'll wait till you make it a series 🔥
It's interesting that more and more people start to play on good old Minecraft versions.
I think the pond in the hill is on the perfect place to make a waterfall in that spot you dig out
Great video! Cant wait for more episodes! My only feedback would be on the music though, to either change it to original Minecraft music, or take it out completely as i feel it messes with the atmosphere of beta

For your dining table, you could put a third slab against the wall and make it a booth.
Keep doing videos like this , its very cool and i like it as watch and as listening
i reaally enjoy the intro segment of this video
when you die PLEASE do the Indev Hell world challenge
I still remember my first day in beta 1.3.
I wanted to make a basic hole in a hill for my first few nights, so I start mining and guess what? I hit the damned underground water pond and the entire thing gets flooded.

This is so cosy
This is what I need right now!
Wonderful video as always!

I've been keeping an old world for a long time. I'm jealous of your buildibg skills, I really beed to up my game!
Keeping an old world for an extended period of time is gold my friend
I really like this build, very functional but also homey
this was such a chill video
always glad to see you mong!
MC has a lot of history with its versions.
Nice
13:33 they're even worse in modern versions too. i can tolerate the ones in beta just because theyre typically smaller but theyre so much worse now
Love the video.Def a new series imma binge.I dont know why u kinda sound like Mr. beast.Lmao
old fog is so atmospheric
i started a 1.5 game this is nice to see :)
nice editing man
Very chill video
Nice to watch!
did not expect a jumpscare watching this lol
9:03 Charcoal hadn't been added yet.
This is going to be great (:
Just a footnote: The music is a bit loud, especially on the sped up sections (such as 26:07)
Noted, my headphones actually broke during the production of this video so I figured some of the sound mixing would be off
excuse has forever been tainted by the last beta player for me
Well I love it
🥑
Dude I forgot about making glass tables like that, they look rad.
Great video as always mong u need more credit for ur vids
I'm pretty sure I started out on either this version or 1.0, very nice.
Your so right about the new caves they honestly are the worst update in my opinion and all I see is people praise it
Charcoal didn't appeal until the update until they added birch trees
Make more videos like this!!😁
PONDS ARE NOT UGLY REEEEEE
I will die on this hill
This video was fire 🔥❤🔥❤
good video, cool concept :)
just turn the pond above your pier into a waterfall now it doesnt suck!
Pretty rad mong upload
I'm letting you know I enjoyed watching it!
