Very cool shots! Inspiring me to get out in high contrast B&W with my GR II. We are under a stagnant fog here in Edmonton so it might make for some cool photos.
Thanks for checking the video, I appreciate it. How's your experience with the GR II? I'm a long-time fan. The fog must a blast to experiment with? 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey Joe! Thanks for watching. I love my GR II as well. Have you upgraded as of yet? All my research still says that the GRII holds up best out of the GR3 and GR3X.
@@tahaphoto Absolutely, yes I would agree my GRII held up better than my GRIII which suffered from the rear jog dial issue they seem to suffer from. Ricoh knows it but refuses to address the issue.
@@JoeDAgostinoPhoto brutal! I really can't understand why any company would bite the hand that feeds them. Especially the GR family that is so loyal to this brilliant device. Thank goodness, I'm not a gear consumptionist, I like what I like and try and maximize that. I would love more pixels on my GR2 and that's really about it. My hope is that RICOH makes a GR4 asap and solves these obvious flaws from previous models that are totally fixable and I'm in! Truly all I need is now is 24-30mpx and IBIS. SOLD!!! lol I'm still saving up / waiting for a deal on the Ricoh GR1v (film camera) I always loved this one. Hope to make it a reality by year's end. How about you, Joe? Do you shoot film? Cheers!
@@tahaphoto I really enjoy film but my impatient nature dictates I shoot digitally. I have a couple of really nice Film cameras but I love to edit and color grade in Lightroom so I enjoy the process of creating.
@@JoeDAgostinoPhoto Of course. Yes, I get it. Film is crazy expensive too. tbh, that's why I always carry my GR2 even if I shoot film that day. The GR2 gives you that gritty film look especially with Pos Film and Hi-Con BW effects. I love editing my GR2 shots in LR just like you. Hope you have a great rest of the week!
Enjoyed the walkabout. Maybe you covered it and I missed it but what proportion of your time are you in snap focus (or full press snap) as I think i spotted an infinity symbol in one shot? Also do you prefer to us pattern (multi) metering and ride the EC or spot meter for the exosure you want and lock it in? Thanks.....
David! Thanks for the question, and thank you for watching. Snap focus for me varies since I change my style and distance of shooting based on scene. Infinity gives me room to not worry about focus. I shoot in TAV a lot these days to minimize motion. My EC is usually at - 0.7, spot metering works and full snap is the go-to. Ask away if I missed anything. What are your preferences? 🙏🏽
Absolutely! Thanks for watching. Themes take time BUT I do have a "themes Folder" on my phone which I always put new theme ideas into. Storytelling takes time since you have to practice making solid images for a long while first. At that time it becomes easier to see patterns, themes, concepts come to life. What time of photography do you shoot? Currently, Im gathering images that use reflections, foggy windows, more like paintings than images. I want to take that project to print soon!
Interesting approach of the “off days”, when the light is bad and when, apparently, nothing interesting to shoot. Do you usually crop into your images in post production? I struggle sometimes too with large focal lengths. Thanks and keep going!
Yves! Thx for watching. 🙏🏽🙏🏽 I crop in post from time to time which really means I probably should have been "closer" but honestly, I think my mind is craving a new perspective... Two adjustments have to be made. 1. I will move to the Ricoh GRIIIx soon (40mm). In the meantime, I will use my 50mm, on my old Pentax SV SLR. ... However, none of this means anything if I shoot on crappy light days. Gotta get more strategic and go hard on days with great light.👌🏽 Whats your current setup?
Ah, yes. Everyone loves the x100v.... Hipstamatic app?! That brings back memories. It was my first photo app on the iPhone 4! I loved the BW filters. There was a Nike bw filter at one point. Loved it. Wish android had this app😪.
Happy New Year! Have you made it out to shoot yet?
No!

I’m using a x100V from very soon. I also often use my phone with the Hipstamatic app. Love the B&W filters and vintage look.
