      Absolutely fascinating source. Who knew that Samurai life encouraged patience and forbearance? I always assumed they were supposed to kill quickly and express rage to show demonstrate the extent of their power. This kind of protocol reminds me of the Law of Moses.

      Look into Antony Cummins, he isn’t a good source. Doesn’t speak or read the language and he changes the text to sound better in English, his translator that translates the Japanese into English for him can’t read Classical Japanese and has it translated from someone else.

    As a Japanese I've never heard about this. So I googled it. the Scrolls were written by a military scholar Masazumi Natori for samurai's in Kishu clan, but they were not very popular among the samurais. The clan adopted other school of military conduct. And this Natori-ryu became a guiding code of conducts for Ninjas, I learned. It was very interesting. Thank you.

For the one being executed, he needs to accept it with grace and resolve. If he panics or faints on the news, it's a shame. If he loses composure and draws his sword to fight back, he will end up either forfeiting his land, having his family stripped of rank or executed as well, etc etc. So in the end, much in the same way a kaishaku will cut the head off, at the moment of the first stab, in seppuku (hara-kiri) to save the agony of slitting the belly, it is also in a way a mercy. Fascinated by the words of the person who has written these. These are surely from a wise man.
    I was surprised about the things was said about back biting as it is exactly the same thing was mentioned in Islam. "Backbiting is the word you would say behind someone but you avoid saying it in front if him/her. A person who does it is a weak person. And someone who talks behind someone else for you will talk about you behind you".

    11:44 This reminds me of 7 Dec 1941, where the declaration of war was to be presented just 30 minutes before the attack (and thus not enough time to warn Pearl Harbor).

    • @f-man3274
      @f-man3274 2 года назад

      That is still better than if it would not be presented like in 22th June 1941 by Germany to Soviets or called "not wr but a special military operation" in 24th February 2022

      @@f-man3274 that would be _kinda maybe_ true *if* the declaration of war had actually been presented *in Washington* just 30 minutes before the attack. But it wasn't.
      It still would have been considered an outrageous sneak attack by the Americans.
