    "I don't edit with VHS tape"
    There's a video idea

    • @MobCat_
      @MobCat_ 2 года назад +10

      Edit a video onto a VHS, mark it as youtube upload, post it to
      Google LLC, D/B/A RUclips
      901 Cherry Ave.
      San Bruno, CA 94066
      USA
      profit.
      lol it would be a fun video and probs something they would be into as a publicity stunt so it would have to be arranged a head of time... If you just sent them a VHS out of nowhere I don't think anything would happen..

      Editing using videotape? Why not go old school and cut film?

    • @MobCat_
      @MobCat_ 2 года назад +3

      @@eDoc2020 Sadly trying to find someone to develop or even buy undeveloped film is a pain now days. sure if you a multi million dollar movie studio that has most of those tools in-house sure. but for hobbyist, not so much. But you can still buy blank vhs or record over old ones.

    • @eDoc2020
      @eDoc2020 2 года назад +3

      @@MobCat_ I just looked online and it's easy to buy Super 8 film from suppliers like B&H. I even found a blog post explaining how to process Kodak 50D film at home using the ECN-2 process, so it's not that hard.
      Compared to videotape, it might actually be cheaper to do properly. To edit videotape you need an actual editing deck if you want precise edits. Most consumer VCRs lack a flying erase head, meaning the first few seconds of recording are over unerased tape, which results in plainly visible distortion. You could probably make do with recording in one pass (using the pause feature) but then if you make a single mistake you need to start over. I don't know for sure but this method probably doesn't properly preserve video sync, meaning the picture could roll for a moment.

    • @vsevkrawczeniuk8019
      @vsevkrawczeniuk8019 2 года назад +2

      @@eDoc2020 I'm sure tape isn't more expensive than film. Developing film at home "is not that hard" until you actually try it. There's a good chance you'll mess up the first couple of rolls. That said, Sam's partner Mel does some really interesting experimental photo developing stuff so I'm sure together they could handle it.
      Last time I looked into using super 8 film 3 minutes cost about $80 for the film, development and scanning at Pro 8mm. So it seems either really time consuming or really expensive.
      I still think tape is cheaper. Yeah just record it in one pass, or last I checked pro VHS editing machines aren't that expensive used, so that might be attainable. Also, with old video mixers you can use the pause feature on a consumer deck and fade in after the second of roll happens.
      Also, you can record over tape if you mess up. Film is one and done.

    Using a mouse on a stick to control an effects pedal over the internet via a laptop with a screen attached to the laptops broken screen then uploading it to the internet so other internet users can see and hear the experience.
    That has to be a first, might even be worthy of a Guinness book of records entry. 😁

    Love it!, reminded me of something from a while back:
    Long time ago I built a "hamster ball" mouse, used the encoders from mechanical (ball at bottom) mouse to support a hamster ball. This was for a research project to provide virtual reality for the hamster, essentially a flight simulator to be used for computer aided testing of hamsters. Sadly although I delivered the HW the rest of the project was never completed.
    I mention this since what you really should make is a version with smaller (mouse size) ball, the hard part would be teaching the mouse to go where you wanted it. Either that or a larger cat sized one, a real challenge since the only way to 'train' a cat is to guess what it is about to do and ask it to do it.

    • @eDoc2020
      @eDoc2020 2 года назад

      But what about people who don't have hamsters? Better use a human-sized ball so as no person gets left out of the fun.

Using a Theremin as a (digital) controller would be pretty good too. Ah man, you've got to make a Theremin controller and if you can't do the coding, grab someone else to do it cos a synth with a massive Theremin controller would be wicked.
