Stompenberg is one of the coolest ideas ever.
"I don't edit with VHS tape"
There's a video idea
Edit a video onto a VHS, mark it as youtube upload, post it to
Google LLC, D/B/A RUclips
901 Cherry Ave.
San Bruno, CA 94066
USA
profit.
lol it would be a fun video and probs something they would be into as a publicity stunt so it would have to be arranged a head of time... If you just sent them a VHS out of nowhere I don't think anything would happen..
Editing using videotape? Why not go old school and cut film?
@@eDoc2020 Sadly trying to find someone to develop or even buy undeveloped film is a pain now days. sure if you a multi million dollar movie studio that has most of those tools in-house sure. but for hobbyist, not so much. But you can still buy blank vhs or record over old ones.
@@MobCat_ I just looked online and it's easy to buy Super 8 film from suppliers like B&H. I even found a blog post explaining how to process Kodak 50D film at home using the ECN-2 process, so it's not that hard.
Compared to videotape, it might actually be cheaper to do properly. To edit videotape you need an actual editing deck if you want precise edits. Most consumer VCRs lack a flying erase head, meaning the first few seconds of recording are over unerased tape, which results in plainly visible distortion. You could probably make do with recording in one pass (using the pause feature) but then if you make a single mistake you need to start over. I don't know for sure but this method probably doesn't properly preserve video sync, meaning the picture could roll for a moment.
@@eDoc2020 I'm sure tape isn't more expensive than film. Developing film at home "is not that hard" until you actually try it. There's a good chance you'll mess up the first couple of rolls. That said, Sam's partner Mel does some really interesting experimental photo developing stuff so I'm sure together they could handle it.
Last time I looked into using super 8 film 3 minutes cost about $80 for the film, development and scanning at Pro 8mm. So it seems either really time consuming or really expensive.
I still think tape is cheaper. Yeah just record it in one pass, or last I checked pro VHS editing machines aren't that expensive used, so that might be attainable. Also, with old video mixers you can use the pause feature on a consumer deck and fade in after the second of roll happens.
Also, you can record over tape if you mess up. Film is one and done.
Your mouse on a string is the most sophisticated LFO I have seen :D
The mouse thing is the most "look mum no computer" computer peripheral I've ever seen.
Now add CV input to it.
There is a jack socket next to the Arduino board, and I think it is for CV input. Next step is to make the CV input controllable over the internet for true pedalception 😂
his mom eventually: 😍 my son playing with a computer? ... he’s becoming a normal kid !
The notebook, the mouse thing, this is the best VHS tape ever!
bro i spat my coffee out when I saw you put another screen on top of the other screen. BRO Ur a god damn genius LMAO
Using a mouse on a stick to control an effects pedal over the internet via a laptop with a screen attached to the laptops broken screen then uploading it to the internet so other internet users can see and hear the experience.
That has to be a first, might even be worthy of a Guinness book of records entry. 😁
Yh that is pretty impresive
Stompenberg is so incredibly ambitious I would have never believed it was possible.
That robot mouse is about as close to not being a computer as you can get without it actually not being a computer.
Love that laptop, I also have the same “aftermarket upgrade”
Curious to know how you managed to change thd broken screen. really need it to be replaced. Sorry to bother, just the first video where it shows the possibility on mac. :)
hahahahahaha absolutely love the pragmatic repair job you did on the laptop xD
thanx for sharing that
That mouse is really... something else... Probably should be in the museum.
what I love most about this video is that second screen solution for the broken 1st screen, thats so fitting to this channel
Thomann seems to be an amazing company. If I find myself in their part of the world I must visit. I hope this sells a lot of guitar pedals for them, and they expand this to other audio processing!
I love the push-pull lines from the servo to the mouse; as an aero-modeller I approve!
More impressed with the modulation mouse than the pedal basement thing hehehe very cool
Arduino Pro micro can actually emulate a mouse, but I appreciate unconventional approach
Not analog enough
Boy, you’re barking… glad to see you having so much fun x
"normal people" uses a mouse macro.
sam: bolts a mouse to a plank of wood with a servo >__
This :D Just another reason to watch his videos
Considering that mac is notorious for not being customisable, your crazy f-ed-up macbook is insanely wonderful and truely matches your brand, Sam.
Love it!, reminded me of something from a while back:
Long time ago I built a "hamster ball" mouse, used the encoders from mechanical (ball at bottom) mouse to support a hamster ball. This was for a research project to provide virtual reality for the hamster, essentially a flight simulator to be used for computer aided testing of hamsters. Sadly although I delivered the HW the rest of the project was never completed.
I mention this since what you really should make is a version with smaller (mouse size) ball, the hard part would be teaching the mouse to go where you wanted it. Either that or a larger cat sized one, a real challenge since the only way to 'train' a cat is to guess what it is about to do and ask it to do it.
But what about people who don't have hamsters? Better use a human-sized ball so as no person gets left out of the fun.
That is the funniest thing I've ever read! I am literally crying
Next step: driving the mouse with a voltage controlled output from the synth
Mind blown and then blown again and the robot mouse. There just wasn't anything left to blow, I submit! Amazing and wow, how much unreal magic going on through those Internet tubes that we take for granted.
I love it!!! You always having sooo much fun! So glad to see you get excited about everything.. Thanks for working hard to give us videos.
A new definition of "mouse over"...
That is fantastic! I can't wait to try out all those pedals, thanks for sharing!
That is completely bonkers. I love it.
That laptop It's just like the laptop I imagined LMNC use to edit his stuff! LOL
dude this is so awesome for guitarists. i can finally test pedals at home before i buy
The screen hack restores my faith in the slogan. :)
This is one of your most absurd inventions yet... and I absolutely love it!
Wow that is so cool. Wishing you the best 2022 Sam.
What a genius idea and you are the man. Keep the energy flow. Gonna visit you 4 sure in the future.
I love your energy and enthusiasm. And the fact you think of something and just do it (robo mouse). I'd procrastinate on it for way too long.
"The synthesizer is playing drums over the internet into Germany" ;D . A phrase that you will ONLY ever hear on THIS very channel ;D
Oh my gosh, delightful! 😍
Fantastic. And great screen fix.
Yes to all of it, just YES! (Love the throwback to the good ol days when the kids played barbie girl non stop in their cars, slowly driving around the block)
TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
LMNC redefining effects pedals with a mouse! Germany has *nothing* on you!
Out of the box thinking. Madness!
😎👍👍
Your laptop is even better than I had hoped.. :) Keep it up, mate!
Wow its a fantastic idea Sam , its like a "proto Cosmo Hand" greetings from Chile!!
Thanks for a fantastic and creative video. Have a nice weekend.
Mouse on a bit of string....it's the future I tell you :)
You are the divinity of sound creation.
That mangled Macintosh is a thing of beauty.
That’s still pretty look mum I might need a computer just to communicate to you..
Your laptop is fucking rad! You are the best Sam. Always looking forward to your vids
Instantly sending music to germany to a guitar pedal and back made me feel so so old XD
This is an awesome idea! They should do this with synths, so you can try before you buy.
That mouse!!!🤣
LOVELY!!!
the classic pokemon stickers really bring it home mate
I bet you just made the day of some (ambitious) software engineer in Germany
This is what happens when the world produces a wholesome mad scientist. You're amazing dude!
Well I never thought I would ever see someone fix a broken laptop screen by velcroing a replacement screen to the old one 😂
Velcro? When I did something similar I used duct tape.
My jaw dropped when I saw this actually worked. The latency for live audio is a bit much. Not sure how they could lower it.
Look mom a computer that was fun and you made me want to make a arduino based pedal automator. I didn't know that I needed one.
You can use a Leonardo, Pro Micro (ATMega328U) or bitbanged USB in an ATTiny85 digispark clone to move the mouse, no need for 'external' mouse. ;-) However, very creative idea to get the job done and fun to watch.
Listening in the US to an artist in the UK playing an instrument in Germany...what a world
That comment about sending a VHS reminded me of Matt Koval’s classic RUclips in 1985 (HWDCeEJ9ZfI)
Love it how you spend so much time apologizing for using a computer 🤎
This is proper mad scientist content!
Very interesting and you used the the old mouse on a plank trick.i do like your content
VHS? that's analog electronics. (although a motion graphics generator would be such a cool exhibition, perhaps a scaninate?). Perhaps you could hook that up to audio output, or visualize your synth in scanlines and colors.
That site is genious, but so is your automouse. NICE
This is the most bizarre software- hardware- software- hardware solution I’ve ever seen!
your computer looks exactly how i would expect
Listen, that is hell of cool idea
Amazing!
What a f@$kin amazing idea.
LMNC: buys over 1000 pounds of Gameboy screens.
LMNC: velcros monitor to broken laptop.
Really living up to the channel name! 😂
But, you could probably get a replacement screen for $50.
so cool!
now THATS an analog controller
Omg here i was thinking we need to hook up midi knobs some how (web midi could do it if they wanted to) and you bust out the mouse. Classic
You’re literallying a lot in this one!
Completely off topic but I was really pumped to hear LMNC's music was played in an episode of Colinfurze's RUclips channel. The episode on tunnel digging.
Was he credited?
I thought I recognised the track. Sure I looked for it in the end credits ;-)
THIS THINGS AWSOME
Genius! :D
Look Mum I Need A New Computer....
😂😂😂 The mouse controller is so Frankenstein-ish that it needs to be expanded on further somehow. Use a mouse with LED's and use light sensors to control other settings. Using a Theremin as a (digital) controller would be pretty good too. Ah man, you've got to make a Theremin controller and if you can't do the coding, grab someone else to do it cos a synth with a massive Theremin controller would be wicked.
Cool!
u punky genius !
I fixed somebody's laptop screen in a slightly different way. I had a spare screen with the same connector, so I simply connected it up. Of course my screen was larger so it didn't fit the way the manufacturer intended. I tied my screen to a piece of cardboard and then duct taped it onto the laptop's lid.
Laptop with a detachable Velcro screen…. Only Sam ;-)
best analog lfo ever =D
Nuts!
The cat is well out of the bag now then, isn't it? 🤔
Nice laptop, btw. 👍
That's the way how VSTs would work if VSTs hadn't been invented.
OMG, Sam you are a mad genius. don't let me connect to that, I'd end up losing days on end
thats very crazy even for this channel.
Huh. I wonder what that schematic at the back is for. Looks pretty good on the wall actually
yeah!
LoL ... That is so great, you are the true "Mad Scientist"!
Lol the state of that laptop, that’s how they repair them at the Apple Genius Bar
Hero level!!!!!
2:40 **Cyberpunk 2077 Music Kicks In**
1:39 EEVBlog multimeter!
Hey Sam. Please connect your robot mouse to the internet so that we can control it …
That s Genius
😂😂🧡
"hi, i'm lmnc and i'm kinda good with a hot glue gun" - frickin amazing :D
This is absolutely bonkers
Look mum, almost no computer XD 💜
