Started on my Raven Guard last night. Tested on the spare command squad, and settled on a straightforward coat of chaos black spray, with a very light drybrush of ulthuan grey, and a layer of leviadon blue contrast - makes them black with a bluish hue - like a raven, and is really quick to get done.
I actually cut my sprues into strips, then blue tack each strip to a cork. This way you can work on them right-side-up, and you can access all parts of the model easily rather than having to work around the sprues. This works for most of the models but there are a couple of groups which are on both sides of the sprue.
I’m getting good results for imperial fist basically slap chopping them. Base mournfang brown, dry brush white, zenithal white then airbrush imperial fist contrast - looks great and v fast. Really want some cards for it. Was considering using mini mag tray trays and have small magnets under the bases (self adhesive 10mm disk mags 0.75mm thick) for transporting. Strong magnets *inside* the vehicles are strong enough to work through the vehicle.
For my infantry, I've separated them into normals and specialists. The normals (Tactical Marines) have 4 infantry in one base, the specialists (Assault Marines, Termies, Veletarii, etc) have 3 models in one base. Was able to maximise the core detachments and actually get the minimum amount needed to get a Terminator and Assault Marine. Currently considering going 2 models per specialist infantry base instead (and 3 for the normals).
Ya know what'd be great for those of us who really like this kind of thing but work all the time and dont have a lot of liquidity? If GW would make more than 1000 units of this set so we dont have to compete with collectors or scammers.
Vehicle boxes have them! Pretty good set no idea why it wasn’t in the infantry box. No banners though but you can make some great looking banners with the parts on the sheet
and I'm so close to finishing my Auxilia from the box! I'm also quite bitter about missing out on the new card pack and even then they've never released cards for the Knights and Titans. I've been playing around with making my own cards but haven't quite worked out the format yet.
I’m thinking of sticking a single Nurgling on a base and using it as a Beast of Nurgle for my Death Guard.
That's ingenious!
Surely a Great Unclean One! They basically look like mini GUOs lol.

Same. My lhs guy was clipping and gluing to stirrers and I thought I's skip a step by making the sprue into "stirrers" (even if some had corners lol)
That sounds like a great hack. I've just primed my first set (with adeptes missile troops having the missile launchers attached). I might try this.

Thanks you, your video dispelled my doubt about using airbrush with contrast paints.
For those paper counters, I bought coin collectors transparent plastic holders and toss them in there. They come in like 100 pieces for a few bucks.
Mediocre Hobbies is the best chan
Mod podge would be the best for those mdf tokens. Prevents the mdf soaking paint and warping as well as creating a seal like varnish.

Can always put 1 of the veterans as a squad commander
