Maine ! Where they have 6 whole weeks of summer !
    Kidding...(sort of).
I've got a friend from Maine.
Moved to south Tx about 10 yrs ago..
What he describes as theclimate of Maine , I call a place I could not live..
To be fair , I was stationed in Va in the 80's (U.S.N) & I spent a week in Maine one summer..
    It was perfect summer weather..
Never got hot. (to me). It was 75/80 everyday ..
But the winters last far to long...(for me)

    • @tayfarms

Great video Taylor and its nice to see Brent being more involved on camera too :) Both of your enthusiasms and ingenuities of keeping things going and doing so on the fly are a treat to watch and learn from as well...as we all know the weather can be a tricky beast and ya gotta make hay when the sun is a shining which unfortunately is also the time when everything goes haywire and needs repairs so being able to get things back going asap is always the key to success and your ability to do so and willingness to learn are awesome :) Those bale wrappers are worth their weight in gold indeed...we have one similar to yours except it is a McHale and also has the tipper on the back to lay the bales on their sides which we find holds the shape of the bale much better and makes it easier to get the netwrap off the bales when its time to feed them as well. Good luck with your haying season and getting your girls their belly filler for winter...fingers crossed all goes well and both success and safety throughout the season are achieved

There's not a loose hot cable on the battery, or bad ground? when we did square bales, to check the baler to see if it worked, we'd bale up the loose hay that the strings go broken over the winter! Milk cows, you're looking for quality, not tonnage! I'v fixed machinery with a horseshoe nail, baby diaper pin, ink pen spring, etc!

There is nothing like the smell of fresh cut and drying hay to start your mornings. Brings back a lot of good memories. Brent and yourself make a great team - while on side rakes the other one bales. How many bales does your farm make every year? You need enough to feed your girls year round with both the dry bales and the wrapped bales. Glad that you were able to fix the problems with the baler since this is only the beginning of haying season. Your viewer numbers are up because you take the time to explain what you are doing and you have an amazing personality also. Even through some difficult times you are always smiling. I love haying! We made small bale's and used an International 706 to bale with. So glad you got the net wrapper to start working. How do you dispose of the wrap? Here in onion growing country disposing of the irrigation drip tape is a real problem.

    • @tayfarms

Yes, haying can be so much fun! We just have our local recycling company pick it up along with other farm waste.

Spring is always exciting on the family farm ! Cows first pasture to the first day of plowing then to hay ! All exciting for the first half of summer lol then old repetitive routine! Until harvesting your crops then once again excitement unless you got breakdowns then it becomes work !! I miss those days until I get deep into thought then I think boy im glad those days are done hahaaha

    Hiya Tay,
Another great video; thank you. Were you wear that if we hit the like button in the first four minutes of playing the film, then the YT algorithm discounts it? I always just used to hit like on some channels as I selected them; I'm learning to hit it at the end again now. That is more correct, anyway. You might want to share this with others like me.
    Stay safe, Steve.

I think fermenting the clover and grass is almost as good for the cows as chopping corn silage with green cornstalks. Of course you feed them cornmeal with supplements so I am sure it is as good as corn silage. I do not think with corn silage you have to supplement. The only thing is about corn silage is it does not take as much land to make a certain amount of silage. I do think cows do like corn silage better but maybe not if the wrapped bales ferment.
