David Bowie was one of the greatest musicians and entertainers of all time. His music was loved in the 70's and is still enjoyed today. may he rest in peace!
My brother singing this to us in the 70s, my mother my dog and clowns while he pointed at his 3 siblings, our mum and the dog. Still makes me smile today. He was a big Bowie fan and used to go out dressed ( with the zig zag on his face) as Aladdin Sane. Dad couldn’t cope with that and banned all Bowie records from the house. Both of my brother and the wonderful music of Bowie.
It's amazing how he can change facial expressions so smoothly - stoicism, skepticism, disdain, sorrow, muted joy, even menace - all within the course of this astounding song.

Bowie wrote the song as a parody of Frank Sinatra's "My Way". I first heard this song during the Freak Show season of American Horror Story. Jessica Lange's character Elsa Mars performed it on screen, and I instantly fell in love with the song. Back then, I had no idea it was Bowie's creation. He will live forever through his timeless art 💜
What a talented artist, and a wonderful human being. So cutting edge during his entire career, the expression "ahead of his time" fits David Bowie perfectly.

It's a God-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling, "No"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man, look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?
It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Now the workers have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a saddening bore
'Cause I wrote it ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man, look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know

What a shot, what an edit! It almost feels like you can caress his face, which I've never seen so close up. This is the perfection, absolutely.
Congrats and thanks for sharing.
I'll never get over how beautiful him and this song is.
Godspeed David, I know you're up there somewhere kickin' it. Thanks for the memories. Wish you were here. Miss you, with much love.
This song speaks to me like nothing else these days. Magnificent.
Such a beautiful and talented soul, RIP Ziggy Stardust.
this tune especially since his passing has taken on a whole other life. brilliant tune
Yes. I’ve been living here for about 60 Earth years.
61 years so far, and I only came to visit! 😎
Don't forget, Rick Wakeman on piano..... and of course the one and only Mick Ronson, his guitar player who scored this wonderful piece of music , the string section bringing this song to it's crescendo.
I thought it was Mike Garson...maybe that was later.
At 70, I still wear his shirt regularly, only to have folks question... Saw him live at MSG in NYC in the 80's, and had all his lp's...
I open the door to Bowie when I can - my young daughters are more than in love & enlightened
Forever amazing, David! Miss you!!
I poslije 50 godina ova stvar zvuci sjajno, mnogo bolje od ovih sadasnjih "hitova"❤
Probably the finest 4K restoration (and upgrade even when comparing to the beautiful 2016 mix) for a music video ever.
This video changed my life when I saw it in the 70's.
David Bowie has been an idol for most of my life. Mick Rock is brilliant!
When david bowie passed away my mother and I went to "Estela de Luz" in Mexico City to hear this song (some people played their CDs). It was my bonding time with her and today we're still close because of bowie.
Good for Bowie defying the norm..... If we didnt have people unafriad like this, music would be very boring... Love this man
Im 13 yo, when bowie died, I remember how my father and my mother cried, I did’nt understood anything, it was midnight here in chile, now i understand everything, i love to listen to bowie, non of my friends know him, but im glad that i grow up with him (sorry, my english is not that good, i speak spanish)
The first time I listened to the song I didn’t like it. Then I was curious what made it good so I rewatched it. The second time I watched it I immediately fell in love with David Bowie. This song was incredibly unique and it’s one of my favorites now❤
yeaaaaah hes ight
Often the best songs aren't likeable on first listen. It took me 20 years to get in to a Kate Bush album after I bought it. I don't think I was mature enough to understand it at the time. It's a masterpiece.
@@DudeSilad True but I think Kate Bush’s music is more accessible then say Life on Mars (Although Kate Bush and David Bowie are both amazing songwriters!)
@@strangelyforgotten7522 Kate is far more avant garde. I'd say Bowie had the far more commercial music. Although Kate wrote a fair amount of it.
@@strangelyforgotten7522you compare a ham sammich to sturgeon caviar
im hearing this for the first time in my whole life and.. oh my god this is so sosososo beautiful i am literally crying
Great job, I love the video. Everything is so crystal clear, David’s voice and oh my, his face…he is so beautiful and has the loveliest voice. I am so happy I grew up with his music and his concerts. I love him forever❤
The best song of the world. Ich habe lange überlegt, aber nachdem ich alles erlebt habe, ist diese Meinung endgültig. When you have all and nothing - this song is your anchor.
some men are destined for greatness, a handful per generation, david was one of them
Damn I loved him in the 70s loved him in the 80s 90s 2000s and today
There will NEVER be a musical talent like this. Ever.
I love this artist… such an attractive man.❤ I was a child at the time but always loved him, he was my hero ❤
I will never ever get tired of this song & video! Just GORGEOUS! 💝
He was a genuine star. RIP.
My all time favorite song ♥️♥️
I definitely understand why… it’s great!
Me too
I wish people could pay more attention this masterpiece of a song😢
Absolutely epic song by one of the greatest, and Rick Wakeman's piano is just the icing on the cake.
David was and will always be our hero. Our master of talent and music. Thanks for posting this masterpiece...
FINALLY!!!!!! ....LIFE ON MARS? in high definition.
And it's happened in my lifetime too!
My brother recorded this off TV in the mid 1970s on the very first Philips Video Recorder.
The tapes were as big as bricks. We played it to death. Come on, you've got to agree....
How cool is BOWIE in this clip?
THANKS for the post.
I was a trans kid in the 70s. Bowie was and still is an idol to me. No artist has ever reinvented themselves like he did. Greatly missed
Sure
Bowie est une référence pour tout le monde, merci à lui ❤️
This music will never get old.
It’s hard living in a world without Bowie.
Man... was there anyone cooler than Bowie? Genius.
Sadly never appreciated his music until he passed. A lyrical and visual genius. This song absolutely showcases his amazing talents ❤️
We miss you Bowie!
Bowie ❤❤❤ in Lock down 2020 I bought a manaquin 6ft tall n orderd clothes iv got him in my front room I dressed him as the goblin king of Labyrinth what a pleasure walking in my front room on mornings n saying good morning David
He was So ahead of his time....music Is Pure perfection😮❤
What makes Bowie unique is his outer worldly quality. A few of his songs are set in space. He is so believable as an attractive alien :).
I will never stop missing David...Bowie Forever!
