    Nice job fixing it. You know more about mechanical things than most men!

    I'm having the same issue with the fish house. Tried to pump some grease and the zerk broke off, really hope i don't have to go through these measures to slide it apart. Good informative video here if i do!!

    • @EndlessDIY
      @EndlessDIY  5 лет назад

      I hope yours comes apart smoother than mine did! Ice Castle (not sure about others) used pop-in zerk fittings, so when you put any pressure on them with the grease gun, well, they pop out, too! Mine were missing, which left an open hole leading right to the axle stub and of course, a direct line for water and grime to get in there. Not good.
      When I was all finished, the house felt 10X lighter to crank, too. When I got the house, I remember thinking "man, this thing is heavy!" when I cranked it. It wasn't heavy, it was just mostly seized.
      Good luck with yours & I hope it goes smoothly! Thanks for watching!

    We switched to Copper anti-seize @ work; Love it!!! What a Pain!!! Excellent Video!!! I'm curious on the wear for the composite ring? Awesome Rush!!!

    • @EndlessDIY
      @EndlessDIY  5 лет назад +1

      I'm curious, too. I've seen many people have switched to them with good long-term results, so I'm hopeful. Since it's not really a wear item and there doesn't seem to be any serious pressure on them, I think they'll be fine. The only real wear they seem to face is the pivot assembly rotating a minimal degree along the edge, but I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for wear. I kept the stock spacers but it took every ounce of restraint I have not to cast them into the pits of hell whence they came!

      @@mickeyg505 I made mine but if you go on Facebook, there's a group called Ice Castle Owners Group (ICOG). There's a guy named Todd Sandberg (I believe). He sells the premade composite ones for like $40. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

      Hi there, I know there is a guy who machines them but I can't remember his name. If you go on the ICOG group on facebook, you might find his information there. I made mine.

    hey, what size axle peg bolts did you use are these? trying to do this to mine and replace the bolts but don't know what size they are.

      I'm sorry, I can't recall for sure but the head & nut were both 9/16" and it was maybe 2 1/2 long. That's about all I can remember.

    First thing I did was take the fenders off. Great job and video. This pivot system is a poor design. The new greaseless system seams to be much better

    • @EndlessDIY
      @EndlessDIY  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks! I would have taken the fenders off but those bolts looked pretty bad, too. You’re right though, if you can get them off easily enough, it probably makes it a bit easier.
      I think the pivot is probably ok, but it absolutely needs more grease fittings. The single press-in one is completely worthless.
      I saw a video about the new greaseless system & it looks very nice; I hope it’s the ticket for easier maintenance.
      Thanks for watching & commenting! :)

    I have done this repair out on the ice. Had to replace the pipe on one, and another one needed to be welded back in place underneath just to get off the ice. If anyone knows the exact size of pipe they use, let me know. Thanks.
