First time I heard this I was like "wait you have Ihsahn and Matt Heafy and the one you have doing the extreme vocals is Gerard? Dayum." It's certainly a grab bag of names of different styles to pull from.
WOAH. That was something that I never expected from the singer of MCR. He for sure has an impressive set of pipes. I really enjoyed this song, as it reminds me of KSE back in early 2000s. Almost sounds like "The End of Heartache". Great job on the sight-read FC, Jason!

I had forgotten all about you because I was never really into guitar hero content, but I liked certain songs you covered in the past and loved the positive vibes you put out into the world. Super stoked to see you're still able to make content. Cheers dude you come across as very genuine.
i am a diehard and longtime fan of mychem, and while i’ve heard G do more intense vocals, i’ve never heard them do full on fry screaming. sure there was the occasional fry to punctuate something in a song, but nothing like this
Also the creator and writer of the original Umbrella Academy comics for those who don't know. Which are kind of like a charming mix of Hellboy and The Venture Bros and totally different from the show.
Regarding the mid-stream comments of black metal being extreme emo: I feel like that definitely applies to DSBM (depressive su!c!dal black metal), not so sure about the other offshoots of black metal.
Wait, what is this time signature? Is that alternating 5/4 > 4/4 > 3/4? Or maybe 4/4 with carryover notes? And I think the solo was in 2/6 (3/6 every few bars)? Man, I love weird time sigs like that, I'd love to see the sheet music. Quite the energy in the vocals too. And nice sightread, of course

You could hear little bits of these harsh vocals on MCR’s debut album. Especially in Vampires Will Never Hurt You.
I was thinking the same. First album you can definitely get some of that, not anywhere near this, but it's there.
