We all have tough moments in our daily lives and suffer from anxiety, sadness, depression, worry, and busy minds! Mindful Meditation is proven to help ANY person at ANY age! As Jon Kabat-Zinn states in his Mindfulness trainings....“We can’t stop the WAVES...BUT...we can learn how to SURF!”
GLITTER JARS are just one of so many popular techniques to practice Mindful Meditation. Therefore, my Higgins Middle School “Mindful Super Hero Club” as part of our “Cultivating Compassion on a GreenScreen” series has put together a video to share this amazing and powerful breathing activity! You will find more productions soon by finding us on Twitter or Instagram at @ClubMindful or check out #MindfulSuperHeroClub as well as #GreenScreen4Good

Try this amazing technique and make yourself and your children a GLITTER JAR! This video will explain how to use it to do mindful breathing in those moments we need to calm our bodies and minds, but even just as a daily practice of mindful meditation. Check out Mindful.Org for a script and directions on How to Create a Glitter Jar for Kids
Glitter jars are also used for things like getting ready for bed before the glitter settles as a friendly fun challenge for your children etc. They love to compete with the jar for all kinds of daily tasks you may struggle to get them to do.
Help your children create a safe space possibly using pillows, a tent, special lights, and definitely calming music. It is recommended that only adults are allowed to set up the glitter jar for your child as if they are in the middle of a tough moment you don’t want them to have something to throw etc. ;). One suggestion around this is to create your glitter jars in plastic water bottles, etc. instead of glass mason jars.
Have FUN as a family with this creative art project as kids love to individualize their unique and personal glitter jar!
    PEACE to all and Namaste!
