Edd used to be like Ant. Well I guess working with Mike Brewer for several years gets to you. No disrespect to Mike, but salesmen and mechanics have different philosophies.
Ant does a good job and replaces virtually anything even if only slightly worn. This is how we treat our sales cars, serviced, new Cambelt (other vehicles) plus any little job no matter how small before it goes up for sale. I'd have this guy work on our Porsches if he was available..
Nice bit of Italian engineering, leaks develope on any car as they age and aren't attended to. Very impressed that the CV joints only needed cleaning and re-packing and was surprised at the reasonable prices of the replacement parts and repairs, so no excuses for not looking after the car.
Ant grabs each new rotor with CV grease all over his fingers - never bothering to decontaminate/degrease them (rotors). This is a “don’t do as I do” moment.
And also i prefer the original ball joint protectors if they are not worn. They are with really high quality instead of the brand new ebay ones. They can stand 30 more years.
Well as usual, these videos tell you 70% of what you need to know... Tell the viewer how to remove the inner race and balls, inspect for wear, and the trick to reassemble. 50% chance you will reassemble wrong and the center race will be locked into position...
Dont mind watching these clips online of him actually fixing cars but the show overall has lost its appeal since ed china left and the format change!!!
I agree. I paid attention to the show on a regular basis lately to see how much of the show was really about fixing the car and how they take a used car, bring it back to life again and then supposedly make a profit. When the show starts, it usually takes at least the first 10 minutes for Mike to meet with the seller, test drive the car and supposedly negotiate the car price for purchase. Then he takes it back to Ant and then repeats to Ant what we have aready heard mostly with a few additions of what they want to do to the car. This has often gone up to 15 minutes. Then after commercials, usually Brewer has to act like he is working somewhere along the line and wastes the viewers time with something he does to add to the car. (Sometimes that part is quite informative, but sometimes this is such a waste of time.) So after the first 30 minutes of the show is over, we have usually seen Ant do about 8-10 minutes of mechanic work. By the 45 minute mark, we have usually seen Ant do about another 8 minutes or so of mechanic work, usually with Brewer coming in wasting time talking. And sometimes, such as in S16 E8, he wastes our timewith explaining bleeding brakes. Really? People who watch a car reapir show needs to know about bleeding brakes? So then usually by the 48 or 49 minute mark of the show, after commercials, it is now time for Brewer to recap what was done the the car, how much he bought it for and how much the parts were. He adds that up and then shows how many man hours were spent working on the vehicle. This doesn't include the time and gas spent buying the car or running around getting parts. Then, including commericals, the next 10 minutes is spent doing a stupid test drive set up of some sort. Like using S16 E8 again was done on a race track. The the last 2 minutes is spent selling the car to a buyer. So all in all we watched Ant work on the car for about 25 minutes, give or take a few. But what really makes me laugh is what thet consider to be a proift. Again, using S16 E8, Brewer bought the vehicle at $15,500 and added to that $4,135 of parts and add to that a total of 28 Man Hours. (Again not including time to buy the car or anything else like picking up parts.) After researching what top mechanics charge for their labor to a customer, a TOP mechanic charges up to and soemtimes over $100.00 an hour. So being conservative, I use the $80.00 per hour rate. Which in this episode is 28 hours times $80.00 an hour equaling $2,240. Brewer says the total they have in it is purchase and parts but no one would do this work and not include man hours. You have to make a living r why else would you do this? You would literally starve. So, again, using S16 E8, they have a total of $21,875 in the vehicle. Brewer sold the auto for $21,000 and he says they made a small profit. So between the two of them they actuall lost $437.50 each. It would be great if they cut the bologna talk of Brewer out, added more actual mechanic work by Ant, removed the lenghty test drive and added in the man hours to the cost of the auto. I am getting pretty bored of the show and I can see me quit watching it soon.
I watched the whole episode and i regret Edd China. The incompetente and stupidy of this clown called Ant Anstead in making fun of the Alfa 164 and Its legendary V6 Busso are shameful for a car program. We want Edd China backup.
No silly rubber gloves. Just getting stuck in and getting yer hands dirty. Good explanations also. I thought Edd china's reason for leaving was cos they were cutting this stuff out. Ant comes across as a pro that really knows what he's talking about (no double sided sticky tape and fairy liquid bottle repairs) and doesn't have time to piss about changing his torn gloves every 2 minutes (something working mechanics know all about). Not sure about the chemistry between him and Mike but with any luck he'll piss off soon aswell lol !!
Well.. actually in italy you can find a few alfa 164 in good condition with v6 busso engine in different version... ( v6 2.0 turbo, or v6 3.0). The are valued from 10000 to 30000 (30000!!??) Euro.. for the same money you can buy a e39 m5 or a w210 e55 AMG
@@AlienFromUranos Rubbish, that is crazy money. In Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic 164 is rather a free car than something valuable. You can get decent one for $3000 in Europe. Still great car, much better than 75, 90 or newer Fiats 155, 156. Great but worthless.

No, it is not Fiat chassis ;) There was a vision of one car with four different badges and trim options.
