  • Join us as we explore the only Marine Railway for boats (Lock 44) in North America located at Big Chute. Part of the Trent Severn Waterway Series
The full Trent-Severn Waterway begins at its south-eastern point, on the Bay of Quinte, on eastern Lake Ontario, and extends to Port Severn in Georgian Bay.
The Waterway is made up of a number of interconnected lakes, rivers, canals and cuts. Since many of these waters are at varying elevations, a series of locks were built to allow boats to transit the system from end to end.
The overall length of the system is 240 miles (386 k) and features 44 locks,60 bridges, 125 dams, 39 Swing Bridges. The System includes two of the highest lift locks in the world, 2 flight locks (which are a series of locks in close proximity) and one marine railway. It took 87 years to complete, from 1833 to 1920. #harleysdinersrides
