Fantastic video! We met you guys at the Youngs Point lock about a month ago, telling you that we have a Le Boat trip planned for September. Can't wait! Your video is super informative. Than you!
Sounds great! But you must have been talking to someone else, as we haven't been to the Youngs Point lock since 2022, plus we've only travelled with Boogaboo this season two weeks ago for a couple of days . . .
Thanks for sharing this series with us Paul. Ya learn something in each release. Even living here I did not know that Fenelon used to be a flight lock!!
Indeed it was. And not sure if you've seen it on another past video of mine, but Lock 28 at Burleigh Falls also started its life as a two chamber flight lock, but when that was converted to the single lock we now know and love, it lost 'Lock 29'. And that's why there's now only 44 locks on the system, despite starting at Lock One at Trenton and ending at 45 in Port Severn. Stick around, as I'm full of lots of useless information 🤣 Oh wait, strike that! You got another trip down south to prepare for, so best get on it 😎🌴⛱️🍹 Looking forward to seeing your next one 🍻
Truly amazing scenery! The lift locks amaze me how they operate as a "bathtub" I will be watching this series several more times over the winter because I know I missed something watching it the first time. Thanks for the information you messaged me about the waterway. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Come on boat season 2023.
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, many folks refer to the 'lock chambers' on both the Peterborough + Kirkfield Lift Locks as bathtubs. A cool ride, for sure. And just to let you know, I am currently editing another video from our Summer '22 cruise That one will be our voyage from Trent Port Marina across to Kingston to begin our first ever trip on the Rideau Canal! I'm loving reliving the excitement of that trip - not to mention the glorious summer weather we had :-)
It sure is! And after 20 years of traveling the lovely Trent Severn Waterway, we still really enjoy our time! Hope you have a chance to check out our extended cruise through the system last summer; Summer 2022 Cruise: ruclips.net/p/PLKhjT5kr2l2FfZzzxZ5GiZynKbMQs21iZ
I have had great luck fishing on Canal Lake caught my first Musky on that lake tons of Large Mouth Bass and some great table size Walleye. We used to launch our fishing rig at Sunset Cove Marina they are really good people that own it.
I don't do any fishing myself, but I've heard from many folks how great the catches are on Canal. Plus, we always see lots of fishing boats when passing through there, so must be a good spot. Joe from Sunset Cove Marina was a good guy, but he sold last year and new folks operating it now.
Thanks again for sharing these. Did you ever get "stuck" between locks where there was no room on the wall and no room at a local marina? Seems like it might be difficult to find an anchorage.
In 20 years of doing this, we've never got 'stuck' without a place to stay for the night. That said, we have had to sometimes travel farther than we had hoped to get a tie-up spot, but that's more of an inconvenience than anything. Worse case scenario is that we'd have to tie up on the blue line (the area of the lock approaches designating one's desire to pass through a lock), with the only drawback being that we'd have to leave by/before first lockage the following day. And yes, there are places that one could potentially anchor out overnight, just not along the narrower canals...

That'll be our little secret 😜
Man that whole area so so pretty. Thank you so much for sharing this series. It's truly amazing
My pleasure. I always try to inspire with the beauty of the area that we get to enjoy each season.
A beautiful waterway. Unique in the whole world....

@@BoatingWithBoogaboo Thanks for the info!
would have been nice to know the names of the places you went through.
I did. It's in the description - but don't worry, nobody reads them 😂
I had relations on Six Mile Lake, now the only ones are on Pretty Channel..
That's a pretty area. Lots of videos from the Severn section of the Trent Severn Waterway on my channel 👍
🐱👍
