Happily they are only talking about cars because this has happened in all markets where lease plans and loans are in place. Are you aware of the sheer volume of cars on the roads today that are on finance ! Probably above 70% if not more. And these "poor" people HAVE to keep on buying the new models unless they have the money to afford the leased cars at the end of the lease plan. Very few people have that kind of money lying around and get caught up in the car dealership spiral. The car market has pushed it as far as it will go and is finally falling through. Especially these overpriced "allocated" only "invitational only" things. LOL.
@@Team33Team33 those that can afford to buy themselves out of the PCP/lease market are buying cars for about 5k causing a huge shortage of cars in that price bracket meaning 2k are selling for 5k
This is such a disgusting practice. Anyone and everyone who work at Porsche or other companies like this should be treated exactly like this in all hospitals. “Oh you need a heart surgery, you’ll have to prove your loyalty by doing a kidney transplant, 3 brain surgeries and lasik surgery on both your eyes, only after that we will allow you to have a heart surgery”.
Its just business... some people with money have impulse buying habits and business know this. So lets make a limited production of a car that is desirable, and make it so that a 2nd person can sell our cars. Smart but wrong. Blame the people who are buying the cars thinking they are going to get a GT3RS...
But lets be honest, If the manufacturers can get away with it, it means the customer are gullible and okay with it. No one is held at gunpoint or ´needs´ a very specific supercar like your heart surgery example. There are a lot more options for expensive toys or investments. I think the buyers should look in the mirror as well if they are willing to be played like that.
Can't help but chuckle a bit on how these people with more money than brains get scammed into buying a GT3RS. Meanwhile, Porsche also screws over their Taycan owners by putting out as many Taycans on the market, making it probably the most depriciated used car on the market today... If I ever get rich (which I highly doubt), I solemnly swear to never partake in any of these practices.
Wow! That’s nuts! EV’s have taken a huge hit over the last 6-9 months. As I mentioned in your part 1 video, I wanted to buy GT3rs which is my dream car, I got told I need to buy 2 Macans, a 911 gt3 pre owned, trade that Gt3 into a new 911 that I would spec out and purchase and then trade in the 911 I purchased whenever that GT3rs gets built, delivered and purchased. I ended up buying a new R8.
I can say that is much harder here in Morocco i sold my M5 comp + a 220k $ to buy the Gt3rs but when i arrived in spain to buy it they told me that i can’t and should i buy some Porches but i already had an Panamera S ( in 2017 ) Cayenne turbo S ( in 2019 ) and even i bought my dad a Targa ( in 2022 ) 🤷🏻♂️ So now i lost almost 40$ in my new M5 comp + i regret selling it 💔
@@xx-----------xx873 Close...The real solution is to ban the dealership business model. Force them all to convert to vehicle maintenance and delivery centers. But the customer buys directly from the manufacture.
@@xx-----------xx873 "There is no game plan, and the only solution is to not have a built limit, make it so everyone who wants one can get one." Is that a solution though? If they do that, then a GT3RS will be in the same boat as a Taycan. They'll overshoot production, and they will sit on dealer lots unmoved. They'll depreciate by half the moment you drive them off the lot. They'll become a less desirable car, just like a Taycan has.
in europe you can walk into a porsche dealership and buy a gt3 rs in the uk it is just a problem because of the right side steering and in the us it is a problem with shipping.
Love the intensity Mark approaches and speaks of the problem and issue buying Porsche GT3 RS! I do not know anyone else on RUclips doin g it! Very intriguing! And congrats earning a reward! Great to watch how pressure has been built ! The problem himself is not less intrigued! (Y) Great stuff!
Honestly I'm surprised they won't just give you one to shut you up. Is this series going to continue? And are you planning on exposing any other shady practices? The way you present and explain it works really well. Great stuff.
Which party cares enough to "shut him up"? Porsche themselves are just manufacturers and will blame the dealer network. The dealer network have always been scum (unless you've never bought a car from a dealership, this isn't exactly breaking news....) and they're just in it to make as much money possible on every single unit. The flippers are always there to take advantage of rich idiots: they've done it with sneakers, they've done it with watches, hell they did it with fucking beanie babies back in the day so they will continue to do it with halo cars. Again for nomies this might be damning new news, but flipping has been a thing for a long time now and no one is going to give this guy a car because he's made some youtube videos whining about it. Im having the same problem with some watches Im trying to buy, but crying about it wont change anything. Either he can jump through hoops for the dealer, or he can buy it with a mark up, or he can just forget about this car; those are the only 3 options.
This isnt "shady" at all. The problem is, as the dude says... Porsche simply cannot let grifters walk into any dealership and pick up a Porsche GT3 RS just for THEM to make an easy 100k. The Porsche brand and dealerships are simply giving away money for free then.
Wow! I feel terrible for all the people who spend millions, and then they cannot buy yet another car. This is a REAL problem, not like those stupid people that cannot afford food or a house.
For real, if they have millions then they could just pay the over fees if they really want it. Seems like they are just tryna make a bag and not trying to enjoy the car. Porsche is right for doing this
You just crushed my dreams in a 2 part video. Years of my life dreaming about that day, and I watch about 40 minutes of video and now I am dead inside.
If I wanted a track-focused Porsche, I'd buy a more standard one second hand and take it to a builder. At least then I'd know exactly what I'm getting and I have the builder's support in the future or if I need to do anything else to it. But I'm just a regular guy that could never afford a Porsche of any kind period.
Its so annoying. You work and make great money and want to go buy the car you want but then they make you jump through hoops just for a chance to get it. Dealerships need to be removed form the equations. If only you could go direct to Porsche.
the thing is that policy is created by porsche and not by dealers I bet dealers would love to sell more GT3 RS cars with great profit but Porsche needs great statistics about selling lots of electric cars so they make dealerships to push the sales anyway possible, fish stinks from the head here....
The dealers are not the problem... They want to sell 100 more GT/RS cars than they're allocated. The problem comes from Porsche themselves. They could ramp up production if they wanted to but won't.
@John_Hoover they couldn't tho its because of the government regulations. They have to sell a certain amount of taycans/fuel efficient cars to then sell a gt3 and its only gonna get worse unless the rules change
@@yota8325 That may be true is some countries but not all, yet it’s still impossible to get one of these things there as well. The easy fix is to make fewer non GT/RS cars to offset the increased production, but then that would collapse the “exclusivity” and crazy demand they’ve generated. And we absolutely cannot have that…
We think that sort of thing will "get back at them" or "make them regret." But it won't. They won't care one single little bit. It's a waste of a drive.

I asked the same question under the previous video: How is any money gained from "overs" tax free? Surely not? All capital gains are taxed in all nations I know, except maybe Monaco.
Mark, sory I'm a bit late on finding your channel - love it! Question, how come Matt Watson got a slot and got one - he doesn't have a portfolio of Porsche's? That would be a great follow up to find out
Anyone can walk into a Porsche dealership and buy a GT3 RS without throwing money away on assets that will depreciate faster than a snowball in hell, you just have to figure-out how to buy the dealership first (and maybe one or two Volkswagen and Audi spots).
Great insight in both and really good of Carl to give up his time and advice. I'll be going to see him if I'm ever lucky enough to be in the position to buy any such car
Mark - How is possible to sell a car which is considered a capital asset at a gain (Sales price - cost basis) without paying capital gains tax? The disposition would be a taxable event per the IRS. It would be a short term capital gain if the holding period was less than a year and long term if held more than one year and one day. Short terms capital gains are taxed at ordinary income rates and long term capital gains receive tax preferential long term capital gains rates. You suggested the transaction would be tax free. How? Are you referring to the UK tax code?
I REALLY love this content. Same goes for Ferrari - look at Shmee150 - SF90/296GTB/Puros/Roma - just so he can buy the SF90 XX. But not all brands cardealers is doing this.
Difference it seems Ferrari and their dealers after following him is that their process seems to be much better than Porsche dealers. Plus I think Shmee wasn't aiming for the SF90XX but maybe the SP3 or something else bcuz that car is very expensive.
@740414daan Also Shmee has had a used FF and 2 used GTC4Lusso V12. Shmee did a video in December saying that he buys the Ferrari models because he really likes the experience of driving the Ferrari cars on road trips, daily driving and mentioned that he doesn’t buy Ferrari cars just to get a brand new limited edition car, it’s more the experience of the Ferrari cars on road trips and daily driving.
Also, if someone has already specced their special Ferrari then Ferrari never cancels that order. The same cannot be said about Porsche. Ferrari also doesn't give preferential treatment to customers for a being a celebrity or having a presence on the internet, their strategy is much more clear cut and straightforward - buy their cars and earn your points. If someone buys a XX program car then their owner's points gets a major boost.
Mr Hartley has a very valid point, they already have more taycan stock than buyers, add to that the new model due out imminently has a bigger battery, looks different etc, means these 3 that are already are hard to sell are gonna be near impossible, i still think you can go to porsche HQ in germany and walk in and buy a brand new left hand drive for sticker
Newcomer here. Just went through P1. Barely recovering from the hit I took listening to this mess... I'm still at the start of this P2 but this is pure madness. They're making p****s of themselves doing this to customers and enthusiasts and damaging their image as a fantastic and legendary car brand, but unfortunately, it seems money matters more to them. And more unfortunately, speculators and people who just throw their money in the spiral only perpetuate this system don't help eradicate those practices, resulting in good, passionate people suffering from it. It's really sad. I don't have the means to buy such cars so my opinion doesn't mean anything, but if I was a dealer, I'd make sure I help people obtain what they dream a out, and not just pretending to sell them cars and utterly stab them in the back.
Yea, how does a well known Porsche addict with an old 911 in his garage and host of a show which has like 800000000000000 million subs and views each week get preferential treatment to get his dream car and create lots of content about it... I can't put my finger on it :D
It’s the only reason I am not a Porsche customer, I won’t play childish games…. It’s not business acumen just blackmail.
Great video. I’ve had a nightmare getting Rolex, let alone supercars. Different scenario, but still a pain with their sodding lists. I’ve now given up on them, as I won’t pay over retail.
It's bad that dealerships are scamming people but I can't help but think "oh poor little filthy rich person, who can afford the GT3 RS, come here lil buddy✨"
Its the only way they can off-load the inventory - they'd rather you take the loss than them.....just pay the premium on a second hand GT3...simpler with a lot less hassle.

I'm sure he's generally trustworthy. Just don't forget that he also wants to sell you the GT3RS he's got in his showroom. I'm not saying he's fabricating anything, but he DOES have a financial motivation to promote the fact that you'll never get one at sticker price from a dealer, to lowball the Taycan values, etc.

@@jtab5392if anyone allows any business or person treat them that way no matter how wealthy they are, they are figuratively and literally a loser.
Sounds reasonable 😅
And even then they still don’t guarantee you a spot
nice lil couple of videos, very informative imo!
After watching this l have fallen out of love for Porsche ⛳
Same here. They gave me a list of garbage that I had to buy. I ended up buying a used Mclaren 600LT
It's not EVs taking a hit - but it looks like Porsche have by using them as bait to hook customers into 'better' cars.
I can say that is much harder here in Morocco i sold my M5 comp + a 220k $ to buy the Gt3rs but when i arrived in spain to buy it they told me that i can’t and should i buy some Porches but i already had an Panamera S ( in 2017 ) Cayenne turbo S ( in 2019 ) and even i bought my dad a Targa ( in 2022 ) 🤷🏻♂️
So now i lost almost 40$ in my new M5 comp + i regret selling it 💔
And yet, after all that, your self worth increased by 0%
I'd keep the gt3 and sell the Macans.
Mark's ability to blend humor, insight, and the sheer reality of car ownership never ceases to amaze! 🚗💨
Ouch! Think I'd need to jump through the same hoops for a GT3 Touring build slot?

this is an amazing series Mark - eyes are being opened for LOTS of people, including me
This is killing an entire generation of actual enthusiasts. I still have no idea what the long term game plan is for these dealers.
There is no game plan, and the only solution is to not have a built limit, make it so everyone who wants one can get one.
@@xx-----------xx873 Close...The real solution is to ban the dealership business model. Force them all to convert to vehicle maintenance and delivery centers. But the customer buys directly from the manufacture.

@@xx-----------xx873 "There is no game plan, and the only solution is to not have a built limit, make it so everyone who wants one can get one."
Is that a solution though? If they do that, then a GT3RS will be in the same boat as a Taycan. They'll overshoot production, and they will sit on dealer lots unmoved. They'll depreciate by half the moment you drive them off the lot. They'll become a less desirable car, just like a Taycan has.
That kids face at 6.27 🤣🤣🤣 Ace car Mark 👍
an amazing car! seeing one and riving one in the flesh was amazing
@@MarkMcCann64 would have loved to see you go to the Porsche dealership in the GT3 RS
This series is awesome. Thank you for showing us the insight of something every car enthusiasts knows/ suspects already.
in europe you can walk into a porsche dealership and buy a gt3 rs in the uk it is just a problem because of the right side steering and in the us it is a problem with shipping.
To be fair most of the people who could afford a gt3 probably already know how hard it is to get a allocation
@@captain_context9991 1. make more then

You just crushed my dreams in a 2 part video. Years of my life dreaming about that day, and I watch about 40 minutes of video and now I am dead inside.
Same bro. Really disappointed
Luckily my dream was just the 911 turbo s, but this shady nonsense is to be expected but still a big let down for the image
You really think this is gonna be a thing forever? Not a chance.
Well you could always buy from the gray market if you're willing to pay the price.
This editing makes these videos better than any Bourne movie out there.
That ending had me saying "dayum!".😆
What a fascinating topic though!
Wow, first time watching one of your videos very informative. Going to be pleased to watch more videos
Part 1 was nuts now I’m screaming for part 3😂😂😂😂
And we absolutely cannot have that…
@@filipsokol346the factory is definitely not creating the policy to screw over top clients. That’s all on the dealerships.

- 1 Taycan do a durability test with WD = EZ profit/free gt3RS 😏

Ferrari has a clear cut points system unlike Porsche. They are guaranteed a limited series car if they have enough points.
That’s what I was thinking!

I've just made mine!
3 Taycans. So thats how Porsche is selling their EV's that NOBODY wants.
So how did Matt Watson of carwow get his GT 3 RS ??? Having no history of buying Porsches from dealers
Cos he’s a knob, sorry but he is IMHO!
No idea maybe its not how much cash you have but who you know ? ? ?

Yea, how does a well known Porsche addict with an old 911 in his garage and host of a show which has like 800000000000000 million subs and views each week get preferential treatment to get his dream car and create lots of content about it... I can't put my finger on it :D
It’s the only reason I am not a Porsche customer, I won’t play childish games…. The arrogance and ignorance of these Porsche staff is unbelievable. ❤ I am currently enjoying and laughing everyday how hard these dealerships are doing and hope in due course a few go to the wall literally, they have deserved every moment of it and it just shows how blackmail does not pay off.
2 reasons why the taycan isn't selling
1. No one can find the turbo
2. its electric is sh@t
GT 3RS is way too overrated..
Could you do the same documentary about Rolex Watches ?
100%
Its the only way they can off-load the inventory - they'd rather you take the loss than them.....just pay the premium on a second hand GT3...simpler with a lot less hassle.
Wow.... main dealership, dare I say, corruption.. this is just unfair on everyone. From the loyal repeat buyers to the, I am working hard and saving up for my dream car people. This is all wrong. Thanks, Mark, for yet another fantastic eye opening vlog. I am having second thought's on my next car being a Porsche now. Are all premium dealerships the same I wonder?

It's hard to understand why people who buy and sell Porsche cars, cannot pronounce the name of the car correctly 😂
Mark Macann you are now promoted to Detective ! You deserve it. Good stuff keep it up. It's no batter then politics 😂.
If I had the sort of money you do Mark, I would happily pay over the odds for a GT3. Unreal car to enjoy and will hold the majority of it's value. If they're worth the money, pay the money.👍🏻
Base model Taycans seem to still fetch 70-80k easily in Germany.. Seems to be a UK issue.
It basically comes down to how much are you willing to pay to spec your own
Very eye opening. Thank you for doing this and exposing these brands on their BS!

I dont wanna sound rude but Tom Hartley offering to buy 3 Taycans from you is more because you guys have some good relationship/friendship with each other. If some normal joe went to him and asked him to buy 3 brand new Porsche Taycans he would probably deny them on the spot.
