This was the first song my husband and i danced to at our wedding in 2002. i lost him in September of 2023 this song gets me everytime.

I worked for a new country radio station when this came out. Songs like this during the 90's and early 2000's broke the glass ceiling on the country music sound and added some great diversification. Great ballad !!
Love this song. I could tell from the start it was the remix version, but still great. Lonestar was the original artist. Named after the Texas as all members were native there. Please check out smile another great song.

Lonestar did the original version in 1999. It was covered in 2002 by Bonnie Tyler and by Boyz II Men in 2009.
Boyz II Men version is my favorite honestly
It was originally given to Boyz ll Men but they were young in the industry and didn't know better and turned it down and it was then given to Lonestar. Boyz ll Men talk about this during their concerts claiming it was one of the worst moves they've done in their music careers. They then tell everyone this is how they would perform it.

This was definitely a “first dance” song… it was for my wife and me at our wedding… coming up on 20 years ago. I never sang it to her like BJ sang it to Asia, though. I haven’t heard it in years… thanks for putting a smile on my face and renewing a memory in my heart.
My wife and I danced to this at our wedding! 17 years strong with two boys quickly growing into young men
If I'm not mistaken this is the remixed version of this song. I remember it being a lot simpler musically when it first came out and I actually loved that more but this version became hugely popular. The entire backing track was one of the changes so it sounds very orchestral. I don't mind it but I personally love the simpler version.
This is the album version they are listening too, the group also did a pop mix of the song (both versions 1999) & they did a 2023 version
Now that you mention it, I think you’re right. There was a more authentic country version and then this one was more of a crossover to mainstream pop. Same vocal track I think, though.
@@scottNNJ Thank you! I had to look it up to be sure but I distinctly remember it being less orchestral and "grand" in sound the first time I heard it.
This is the original. It was shortened for the radio. This is the studio original version.
@@bradkirchhoff5703 I'm sorry to differ, but you're wrong. I bought the CD when it first came out, and I have the MP3 rip synced to my phone from that disc. I just re-listened to it again to confirm. The steel guitars are more prevalent on the original cut, and the strings (orchestral sound) are not there. I can stand to listen to the more country version of it, but I get sick to my stomach hearing the popified version that Asia and B. J. just heard.

They are 100% the original and a brilliant love song.
I saw these guys in September & Drew still sounds exactly the same. They have some great music. "I'm already there'(great video), 'Mr. Mom' (funny to all parents) & 'My front porch looking in' are my favs. 'Amazed' came out in 1999. It was written by a couple that were reflecting on their relationship & then they gave it to Lonestar.

Lonestar was the start up band for Mark Chestnut at an outdoor concert here at Ebro Dog Racing Track...then we saw them again at the Mullet Festival in Niceville, FL.
Almost every member was in house band in Dallas-Fort Bobby Smith put them together with lead singer (Richie) and they came up with LONESTAR name

My husband chose this song as our first wedding dance in December 2000. Such a beautiful song. 11 years later he left leaving 2 kids behind and said his life was a lie. Listening to this song is so hard. The memories of that day were amazing but I cry to this song now for all the wrong reasons.
As previously stated Lone Star are the original artists. It was covered by Bonnie Tyler and Boyz To Men

This is definitely Lonestar's song, but it was covered by a number of other singers, including Bonnie Tyler. I'd guess that's the version you're thinking of. Of course, Richie McDonald has such a high-pitched voice, maybe you assumed it was a woman singing. Anyway, it's a beautiful song and I truly love your reactions.
