    Hi We do this on the East Coast of Canada but its more about just getting together, having a few pints, working on a project or just helping out a friend with a job. Good on ya!

      You can, now. Our Men's Shed, in Nelson, BC, has just started a project to restore classic cars.

      Can’t you join? I don’t really know but I’m pretty sure you can just join like the lapidary clubs.

      Go join. If you bring your most mature mindset and skills, you won't be turned away.

    Would also be a wonderful means to bring in many of our english speaking older migrants, who my feel culturally isolated or alone, even within their own communities.
    Men's Sheds have been around for a while now and is an idea that could easily be exported.
    Many more of us are living alone and our numbers are increasingly year over year.
    Anxiety and depression is also on the rise and are both major health threatening issues.
    Ongoing medication is not the answer.
    Exercise helps me maintain my mental adjility and sanity .... many unfortunately are far less mobile but still able to turn a screwdriver or hammer a nail through timber.
    A great report and a little positive news for a change ... thanks.

      Hopefully there could be collaborations with specific cultures centres to grow the men’s sheds far and wide with everyone, something to consider.

    Here you have a lovely young woman interviewing respectfully a man about a wonderful social institution and organisation that I greatly respect and people come on here to bash feminists about an attempt to take it away? Really ? As if it's going to be taken away., where's the proof?

    • @microcolonel
      @microcolonel 7 месяцев назад +2

      Several of them have been destroyed by exactly that outside pressure; and long before this was a thing, feminists destroyed men's clubs through activist pressure.
      It is not theoretical, the men who make up the majority of these shed movement clubs are of a generation that remembers a time before feminists destroyed the clubs that predate them.

      Of course, some of it is just whining; and that's pathetic, but I doubt you're above whining yourself when it's something you feel strongly about. 😂

    They need something like this for women too, and not gyms; I'm talking something productive, like woodworking or something else.
