I first saw The Struts when they opened for the Foo Fighters back in 2018, I had never heard of them before but they absolutely killed it (their singer also joined FF for a cover of Under Pressure from Queen and David Bowie and I was instantly sold after that) and Gethin was just on fire
Thanks for this - I love Gethin! Kid Rock cruise 2017 was my introduction to The Struts. Just finished my 21st show; I brought my setlist from one of those 2018 Nashville shows where Tom Morello performed for the band to sign. Hampton Beach M&G - Gethin saw I was wearing his Cheeky Raccoon cymbal necklace. I also brought his 2018 Vic Worth 54 drumstick for him to sign. Forever grateful to be a Portland Maine Courteney!
One the best drum mix I've heard. SO immersive!!! The stereo image and phase correlation is through the roof, and that is a live set-up?! Freakishly good. What a great player and fantastic engineer!!!!
Wild to hear that this guy's never broken a china! I've broken more chinas than anything else. Luckily, I've had the same 18" Wuhan for around 15 years now. I honestly don't know how it hasn't broken yet, it's gotta be the thinnest china I've owned, other than my little 12" oriental china trash. My only guess is that the thinness allows for it to be less rigid, and it flexes instead of cracking? Most of the cymbals that I have broken were on the heavier side for their type, with the exception of my Z Custom mega bell, that thing will never break. It's almost 9lbs, I think it's pretty much indestructible, lol. Funnily enough, I've also taken a broken cymbal and made a guitar pick pendant out of it too, though I didn't melt it down first haha.
We usually do a rundown in 30 ish minutes! Show days are busy! We are grateful to the TMs, Techs and venue staff for gettin us time on stage before the show!

These famous drummers that don't even quite know what sizes their drums are or even what heads are on their drums... That's cool... I also really like the ridiculous angle of the 13"... Straighten it up, you're famous and touring, not a 14 year old just starting out... But that's probably just my drum-ocd reacting... Great drums tho👌🏻
