John Stockton and Karl Malone missed a combined 32 games in 18 seasons together. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have missed a combined 35 games this season already.
Fun fact: Anthony Davis has played more games as a Laker than both Kawhi and PG as Clippers, even though all three of them came to LA at the same time during the 2019-2020 offseason.
Mostly would be a longevity stat though, because he wasn't usually the best player on the team. It's not like you can even make an argument he should have been the highest paid guy during the big 3 era, because LeBron was BY FAR the superior player.
@@randumo24 Goes to show how much of a casual you are. D-Wade was the best player on the Heat from 2004-2010. He out-performed Shaq (who was on the later end of his prime but still dominant) in both the regular season and playoffs, was a top 5 MVP candidate during the 2008-09 season as he got a scoring title, and was even near equal footing as LeBron in their *first* year together and outperformed LeBron in the playoffs. The only reason why he was never the highest paid player was because he was too loyal to the Heat. He took pay cuts and long-term deals so that the team can sign other expensive players, hence why the big 3 was formed in the first place. It was because of that they were able to afford LeBron and Bosh at their peaks.
@@TheHuskyK9 Lol, trying to call me the casual when you're the casual here. Obviously he was their best player for a while, but he was NEVER better than or even equal to LeBron. If you ever bothered to go back and look into the history of the team, the reason they had similar numbers in their first year is because they were friends and LeBron didn't want to just come in and takeover his team. They hashed that out after the first season's loss in the Finals, and it was damn obvious who the best player on the team was when LeBron wasn't holding back anymore.
You've got 3PM and 3PA reversed in your three pointer graphic. Currently it says 86k made out of 30k attempts. Also not sure where the 511% increase comes from. 86k is way more than 500% of 5k. The increase in percent is more like 1600% (86/5 is approximately the percentage of initial season threes taken this season, subtract 1 to get the increase).
@@joshuah8365 But why are we comparing those? It makes the whole thing sound less impressive. It's a 2081% increase in makes and a 1630% increase in attempts. 511% doesn't do it justice.
@@kingdinodragonite3470 30598 / 5003 is 6.11. This is where the 511% increase comes from. So definitely got them mixed up. He says in the video that it's an increase in attempts. When the league introduced threes, most coaches were against it and saw it as a gimmick. A few coaches experimented a little with it that first season, allowing a few players to take threes from the corner with some regularity, since there were already plays designed for corner shots beyond 18 feet. But most coaches only allowed it as a buzzer beater shot or a "Hail Mary". Even players who were fairly good from that range had no real way of showing it, since few of their shots were in-rhythm normal shots in the offense, but rather rushed against the clock. A larger percentage of three-point shots were taken as heaves as well, further lowering percentages. Many coaches in the first two decades of the three-point shot believed that long rebounds from threes would lead to easy buckets for opposing teams, and since early in this period was a time when transition buckets were reaching all-time threat level, few coaches were willing to take such a risk for just one extra point. Decades later, analytics discovered that three-point shot attempts tend to rebound right around the free throw line, which showed that the "long rebound" idea was mostly a myth. The corner three, especially, turned out to be an ideal shot as rebounds from those attempts landed almost perfectly where paint oriented players were positioned. Popovich was the first coach to consciously exploit this new knowledge.
I love that you used the background from Rumble in the Zoo from TMNT Shredders Revenge in your video when bringing up the Zoo Fact. These are great! Way off on the math for % increase though. Change over intial amount = (30,598-1,402)/1,403 = 20.81 or 2,081% increase. It's way crazier than you made it out to be! For future, I'd recommend using "x times as many" rather than "percent increase". It just makes more sense to people. In this case it would be 20.81 times as many threes taken. I would have said, "took over 20 times as many threes!" Easier to understand and gets the point across. Again, great work on these!
On the other hand: Of all NBA players from New Zealand, Sean Marks never played in New Zealand's NBL, which is a semi-pro league. In fact: Steven Adams won a ring in 2011 with Wellington Saints in a shrunken league in his only season. That season, Christchurch Cougars never made their debut because the city suffered a major earthquake on February 22, 2011, 2 months before the season started, and North Harbour Heat sat out that season due to financial issues.
