Alfonso Dalisay Jr still could’ve been a billionaire getting payed in today’s salary in the NBA The value of contracts has exploded like heavy and shoe deals, investments and endorsement deals etc. etc And most importantly the league revenue is split 50/50 with players and owners so safe to say that MJ would definitely be a billionaire playing basketball 😂
GOD if MJ played now he’d averaged 42 8 7 shooting 50% for his entire career, defense now is shitty, MJ averaged 30 for his career playing in the most dominant defensive era, now how many rings would MJ get? Depends because of how the bulls played they wouldn’t hold up offensively in today’s game, especially against scoring PG’s, so let’s make it fair, MJ in on the 2019-2020 bulls, he’s at SG, his PG is D-Lo, SF is PG13, PF is Dario, C is steve adams, that’s a solid big 3 in MJ D-Lo and PG13 a nice shooter in Dario and glass cleaner in Adams, and I’d give them the Clippers current bench, with that lineup the Bulls would get no more than 5 rings, no less than 3, in today’s game, MJ would rack up more points being #1 scorer in NBA history, and I’d say 7 MVP’s, today’s game you truly cannot have dynasty anymore, only teams I really see becoming a dynasty would be the Pelicans and Clippers, Lebron is already on decline, Lakers can’t even get a solid coach, Clippers has an elite coach that lead the nonstar on roster clippers take the warriors to game 6, and Pelicans have revamped their staff
This is one of the most interesting NBA videos I've ever seen. I know most of these statistics but it's mind boggling to see it laid out on a chart or graph.
@@anthonythomas not at all. It shows how the top stat relates to the other too stats. Starting the graph at 0 makes the data look misleading as if gaining the top stat line isnt that impressive when it is
What's actually mind boggling is what the graph would actually look like if the y-axis started at 0. These are misleading graphs which you would know if you knew anything about statistics.
@@anthonythomas Some of the charts start at 0, the ones that don't are relative and the number 0 means nothing in them so why show it? It's misleading if you can't think like it's not hard to understand or compare the points to each other / get the graph. Interpret it, stop complaining
The problem I have with having these charts as visual representations is that most have shortened Y-axes. They graphically suggest players performance numbers twice as high as the next one, but when you look at the numbers they "only" performed 20-30% better. Not taking away anything from the players as they are clearly outstanding performers compared to the rest of them, but the graphics are misleading, even when accompanied by clear and concise explanations.
Mehh, I disagree. Performing 20-30% better than the next guy in NBA history is insane. He is not even showing the statistics of average NBA players. He is only showing the best
I loved that part about Dwight Howard. That dude just never recovered from that back injury, or was never able to adjust his game while still delivering 13 and 13 a game. But in his prime, he was one of the top 5 players in the league. Hands down. We all lament the injuries to future hall-of-famers like Penny, Grant Hill, or Yao. And even borderline All-NBA guys like Brandon Roy or Gilbert Arenas. But the fact that his injury is not considered as one of the great tragedies in basketball is beyond me.
It's really his attitude and inability to refine his game that is why people don't like him. Those Magic teams would have been better if he realized he wasn't actually good offensively and let perimeter players take the most shots. The dude had nearly 4 turnovers a game out of the center position, was only scoring a little over 20ppg despite getting the most touches, and was a liability when fouled. He was unquestionably the best rebound/blocked shot guy in the league, but his attitude and lack of refined skill held his teams back.
@@mikesannitti6042 later in his career with the lakers and even last 2 seasons he was saying the business part of the league made him depressed and all that. Even when he was with HOU dream said in practice he does everything I teach him but in the games he don't. I'm assuming he has a problem with his self confidence or scared to fail.
@@eugenehofmann4013 It's probably from being made "the man" at a young age and when he was still raw with the Magic. They built him up like he should have been Shaq but really he was more Ben Wallace. The difference is Ben embraced who he was and was the anchor for a championship team. He's also probably a little depressed because he ended up sorta at odds with a lot of the older legends of the game like Shaq and Vince Carter.
quick tip: It looks dishonest when you don't start your graphs with 0, it makes smaller gaps look way bigger when its a difference between 50 and 80 for example
I think it was meant to highlight the difference among elite players that are used as a standard by many NBA fans as opposed to elite players vs rest of the field.
@Zhuohong He, I understand, though. When I saw the graphs, almost all of them caused an internal alarm to go off. Still, my favorite graph is the rings to games since it's the only 2-dimensional graph.

@@tylerweems5665 Just because he gets more free throws than everyone else, doesn't prove whether theyre justified or not, or whether the refs favor him, it just shows something everyone already knows, that he gets a lot of freethrows. He could just simply be better at drawing fouls, take more shots, etc.
@@someperson8151 Agreed 100%. A stat so "unbelievable!" because it's not even close to comparable. It's not even apples & oranges; it's apples and leather.
So if a bench player took just 10 shots per game and played all 82 games in a season. He’d still have 38 less attempts then harden had at the free throw line.... Wow
Not really... he's just trying to show the disparity between one player and another you don't have to draw it all the way down to the zero axis. Yes the numbers would look closer, but that's not the point that's trying to be made. My only problem was he didn't account for inflation in Michael Jordan's 33 million. If account for inflation, he was getting paid ALOT more then 33m if you put it in today's value.
The charts were misleading though, as you rarely started the y-axis at 0, making the differences seem much larger relative to the others than they actually were. For example in the Team wins since 2015, the Warriors look more than double as high as the rest, while they're closer to 33% higher than the second highest.
its not really misleading though, if you have a brain you're aware of where it starts, it would also look really messy to start with 0 in terms of the visuals of the video. Also finally its entertainment why would he put exact facts above entertainment, its only misleading if you're dumb, seriously the difference between the players is still accurate, straight up not what misleading means
@@noahleach7690 No, it's misleading. "giving the wrong idea or impression." The y-axis starts way later to make the differences seem bigger than they actually are. "It's only misleading if you're dumb" is a dumb thing to say. You could apply that to any form of deception or cheating.
@@trafalgarlaw8373 but the differences are proportionally the same, it doesn't change the differences and the fact that it starts that late allows you to fill in the context, its not complicated.
Legend has it that James Naismith's inspiration for creating basketball came after he discovered some papyrus scrolls hidden in a tomb in the Middle East detailing Vince Carter's early years.🤣🤣
@@luboya48 It's the one logical explanation as to why you felt the need to repeat what the video had already made very clear. The second would be just for attention.
Haha I like charts too, actually. But is anyone else a little upset that the charts are slightly misleading as the visual proportions are thrown off? Because the base of the y axis begins at 1500 instead of 0 the proportion between LeBron and the others appears even larger than it actually is (even though it already is drastically large in reality, the a little exaggerated). Maybe I'm just a nerd but that bothered me a little as it's a tiny bit misleading.
very good and simple explanation, thank you. one point I'd like to raise is; when you are trying to show the scatter of a data in yhe y-axis, it is more honest (but less sensational) to begin the y-axis from 0.
The 1998 salary of Jordan was so high because it was the year the Bulls finally took care of him. For years Jordan was the best player in the NBA, but was not the highway paid.
True that. Bulls owner Rinsdorf is a horrible owner. He cheeps out players in the bulls and Sox organizations. He owns them both. He's the reason Phil Jackson left and MJ / Pippen etc left also. He destroyed the greatest team ever. Them bulls probably would have won another two to five championships

As in that’s what the bulls were willing to pay him to continue to play on 1 season contracts. To put it in perspective in today’s salary nobody is worth that kind of money ie over a 100 million for a 1year contract. Hence MJ is the 🐐
@@TBAGS101 that's not true. Krause paid him that because Krause knew he was breaking up the dynasty. @@bigshmoke9392 ... Bwink.u are right,MJ was under paid
Alfonso Dalisay Jr still could’ve been a billionaire getting payed in today’s salary in the NBA
The value of contracts has exploded like heavy and shoe deals, investments and endorsement deals etc. etc
And most importantly the league revenue is split 50/50 with players and owners so safe to say that MJ would definitely be a billionaire playing basketball 😂

@@anthonythomas not at all. It shows how the top stat relates to the other too stats. Starting the graph at 0 makes the data look misleading as if gaining the top stat line isnt that impressive when it is
@Brian Cheng I +1 that
What's actually mind boggling is what the graph would actually look like if the y-axis started at 0. These are misleading graphs which you would know if you knew anything about statistics.
Multiple things need fact checked and multiple players left out of charts they'd be mid pack or 2nd. Bad video actually.

We all lament the injuries to future hall-of-famers like Penny, Grant Hill, or Yao. And even borderline All-NBA guys like Brandon Roy or Gilbert Arenas.
But the fact that his injury is not considered as one of the great tragedies in basketball is beyond me.
@@curryhands7459 Dead
It's really his attitude and inability to refine his game that is why people don't like him. Those Magic teams would have been better if he realized he wasn't actually good offensively and let perimeter players take the most shots. The dude had nearly 4 turnovers a game out of the center position, was only scoring a little over 20ppg despite getting the most touches, and was a liability when fouled. He was unquestionably the best rebound/blocked shot guy in the league, but his attitude and lack of refined skill held his teams back.

He did account for inflation, he stated that it would be around $120 mil which is still insane
@@travisturner7973 Did he really? Oh shit, i must have missed it. My mistake
The charts were misleading though, as you rarely started the y-axis at 0, making the differences seem much larger relative to the others than they actually were. I’m not sure if he’s accounting for the stopping rule either

To put it in perspective in today’s salary nobody is worth that kind of money ie over a 100 million for a 1year contract. Hence MJ is the 🐐
@Patrick White He was still underpaid. He deserved at least 50 million a year. He created the Bulls franchise. They were moribund before him.
@@TBAGS101 that's not true. Krause paid him that because Krause knew he was breaking up the dynasty. MJ retired the second time because they weren't bringing back Phil, Rodman etc. We heard all year that it was going to be the last dance. Actually they even were talking about the last dance in 97. I am from Chicago and was around back then.
Oh my gosh, I had a great idea for you. You. Should do “time lapse” graphs, that show, as an example, the best in each category for certain years. The progression would be fascinating. Nice work!

Hayden Collins charts never lies ... as Traders used to say
@@uharvestpteltdtinhatvietlt6248 statistics can be manipulated. But generally they are great.
wait is 13 triple doubles by Elfrid Payton not also double digits?
3:57
Naxulius hes not a current nba player
Yes he is
Tabraiz Khan he played with AD
lmaooo damn, Payton even gets overlooked on charts 🤣
I think he meant 20+
OMG
Vince Carter is literally older than everyone born after than him. 😳🤯
damn you right😳😳😳
He’s obviously older than everyone born after him. He was born first 🙄.
NO DAMN WAY
Maurice Copeland you’re actually slow hahaha
Perfectio - oops I made after
The triple double stat is wild, but would look less crazy given Jocik's last three seasons 2020-2022. He had 64, which would put a dot about mid way between Russ and the rest of the pack.
Your MJ salary outlier for a single season salary should include the fact that he was getting UNDERPAID for much of his career. Only in his final season did they pay him that astronomical amount.. his lifetime NBA earnings are NOT the crazy numbers we see today...
swish1onu valid point. Should have paid him 66.2 mil considering what he did for that organization.
Big Shmoke still the richest sports person to play any sport so 😅
@@bigshmoke9392 ... I think part of the reason was Jordan was getting so much endorsement money from Nike, gatorade, coke, wheaties..etc...that rather than demanding a larger salary, he let the organization find better talent to surround him with. Unlike today's stars who mostly take what they can get while they can get it... Not that I'm against it, since I still think they, on average, are underpaid. But that's a whole another story.
Mike’s NBA money was pocket change to him.....just a little gambling money. My man STILL rakes from Nike, and used to get that McDonalds, Wheaties, and Gatorade money. He’s literally a BILLIONAIRE now.
Still d biggest paid inactive player today biggest against lbj, kd and others
So basically Dwight Howard, James Harden, Bill Russell, the Warriors, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Michael Jordan are beasts
Eh, minus Lebron. Yea pretty much.
This chart does LeBron dirty.. crazy amount of playoff games played and not alot of rings 😂
He's doing his part though as proven in the chart that followed 🤷🏿♂️
@@JoshuaHines713 Doesn't make the original comment any less accurate.
@@YaKnowWhatIming Never said it did, they're two sides (charts) of every story is all, both true and accurate.
Yeah, can't be mad at him though. It was the warriors era and he wasn't in the warriors. There's a reason he always made it to the finals, but warriors always had a superior roster to trump his superior talent
Not dirty. Just overrated team hoping lmao
"I like charts. Charts are good." You sir get a sub. 😂😂😂
