Okay so that fishing rod Celilo to native Americans it means echo of falling water... Celilo Falls was a 12-mile stretch of the Columbia River that contained a series of waterfalls and rapids. Great video. I’m hoping the BG 6500 I just purchased will hold up to some monster sturgeon this year. Last year, I hauled in a 6’ - 7” 150# monster from a boat. When I found out the bank guys were getting them, I was sold!
What I should done is put Emily on a skateboard tell her to ride off and I'll pull her back by reeling her in lol that would more comparison to water and drag on land ....Thanks For Watching!!
As silly as comparing the reel feet may seem to some viewers, I am just getting ready to go on a trip and am bringing two spin surf outfits. I bought a new Daiwa Ardito surf rod, and my old trusty reliable Penn 8500 SS reel foot won't fit into the upper part of the rod's Fuji reel seat. OK, so I order a new Penn Pursuit III 5000, cut it out of the clamshell case, and it won't fit on the rod, either! I try my Daiwa BG 4000 reel on the rod, and NO PROBLEM. The reel is a little small to balance out the rod. I'm tempted to buy the Penn Battle II 6000 reel to replace that Pursuit III, as there are great prices on them out there right now, and it would be a great fit on my new rod. But, based on my small sample of two Penn reels and what I've seen in this video, I can't trust that the reel seat fit issue will be any different with the Battle II than it was with the Pursuit III, and though my grandfather and dad relied on Penn reels and I have, as well, I have to go with the BG 5000 or 6500.
6500 BG sounds sound perfect.....from 5000 to 8000 you'll habe no worries to beating up your reel....they are Very Very Strong well made best I think for price, disability and power!👍👍👍👍
I was looking to pairing a Daiwa BG 8000 or Penn Spinfisher VI 7500 with either the Tsunami air wave elite 1102M, okuma cedros 1102MH or the St Croix 110M. I want to use 50lb braided line but the tsunami air wave elite is rated 15-30lb and the Okuma is rated 20-50lb and the st croix is 15-40. I was mainly thinking the okuma or st croix but do you think the st croix will be safe using 50lb line even though it’s rated for 15-40 and the price for the st croix is $245 while the okuma is $170. Both are MH/MF. And which set up would you personally choose out of the items I listed
The problem I see here is the price only because most if not all rods are blank fi er glass rods or in that realm if there at any 100 dollars and over your doing great but if your over 200 then you must have a rod that can handle yellow fin tuna and fish over 300 lbs on a regular basis.....so if you dont mind price choose what you would like to use as your rod but if you have a depth understanding of how rod flex and durability play for very serious rod and reel fish handers 100lbs and up then buy St 110M...the quality of that rod can handle time and battle for the fish you catch. But rods in the price range of 100$ and up can and will do he same work. Because my rods have last 5years before they broke down ...eye rings....tips and break because of dryness and heat. So theres alot to think about it up to you how aggressive and passionate you are with your rod and reels and the Size type of fish. Hope this info helps.😃😃
If you plan on fishing for fish over 100lbs to 200lbs I'd say BG 8000 but if your looking in the range of 12 to 80lbs fish the BG 5000 I WOULD recommend. But I think the BG 5000 could handle up to and over 100 pound fish strong strong reel. To me the 5000 is an over all real perfect for any applications. Hope this helped.
I looked to get the fierce 8000 but when I started reeling it felt real tight and hard to reel. I use big weights and big baits, so I need the one that reels the best?
Peeling Drag Catfishing the BGs....Any the Air Rotor is by far super easy to turn very very light...and with the Huge Main Gear...or Diggy Gear make work 10x Easyer...and extremely Fast!...4000 5000 6000 8000 BGs Are the it in power speed and toughness..😀😀
I'm so sorry I forgot to let you know the larger you go on reels so does the braid accompanying it there will deffinalty be more drag, reason for this is braid behave very much like cloth meaning it will catch or grip the rod Eye rings much much more especially if it's 80 to 100lbs. And by the time the line reaches the line roller being wet at all will have a lot of drag depending how many eye rings the line is going thru. I had the same problem with just 50 lbs braid on my BG 5000 produced alot of drag....even on my cast...so I switched to 25lbs Mano floro carboncoated much much more speed on cast distance and 3x less drag....with 8000 BG on a wet line 100lbs braid....was lots of drag....so if your using a Reel that large on the surf will be hard to cast for sure and reel in....just FYI😀😀😀

Hi any ideas my diawa bg 4000 is brand new took it out today but its making a horrible noise under tension on the retrieve its hard to explain the noise
I used to use braid on my BG 5000 and it was 40 to 60lbs....but what I notice it was harder to cast and harder to retrieve.Reason being is the thicker the braid the more water it holds this adds weight and drag on both casting and retrieving and grips the rods eye rings and line roller to well so I change to mano 25lbs P-line CX floro carbon coated and cast amazing. But with my BG 4000 I kept the braid on BECAUSE it was only 20lbs J-Braid 6 weave and able to cast EXTREMELY FAR and also last forever. Hope this help you decision 😃😃😃
Great to hear you wont be disappointment....built to last FOREVER.....service is simple simple spray down with water...and always keep your line roller well greased with Marine Grease and that's It!😃😃thanks for watching!
I'm glad you see the same quality and versatility of these BGs as I have. They can be used in so many ways that there are no reels like the BGs. You put heavier line braid or mano or go much heavier and still have plenty of line capacity for your needs with out any damage what so ever to your reel because there built so Tuff! Happy for your purchase thanks for watching and subscribe😀😀😀
MyFishing Addictions Thank you for your feedback👍🏽 Yes this BGs are very solidly built I use the BG 6500 with a Daiwa saltiga GT86 rod 80lb max & the BG 5000 with a Daiwa Saltist surface game rod 60lb max, these two combo are perfectly with my way of fishing😃✌🏽🎣
Ok so I just got my 8000. So when I went to flip the bail by cranking the handle she won’t flip. Manual says to flip it manually (by hand ) is this true I never had one do that. 10k videos not one shows them cranking the bail by turning the handle. Bummer nothing in all reviews LMK
Yes that is correct it's a manual bail to prevent any accidental flip back if your plugging .....and it's considered a safety feature. It also has an automatic rotor break witch is all normal. If you try to turn the knob and rotor while the nail is set open it will turn a few times then stop....its normal nothing to worry 😀😀
I actually have the same rod as yours basically, just half a ft shorter. I was hoping to get a 6500 bg , just because the 8000 is a bit overkill on the wallet to spool up lol.
rumel siddiqu carbon.......it makes the rotor very light as you turn....with the size 8000.....Id be comfortable to say zero flex because it's SO HUGE!
Michael Brymer I've seen videos on RUclips to see what's the best way to spool braid.....if you don't have the option for a tackle shop to spool it for you....then do what I did just have a friend hold the new spool of line with a pen passing thru it hold it with 2 rags on both side for him/her ( like if your holding the handle bar of a bike)to add pressure....Lots of pressure as you start winding your line to your reel. Remember I used my 10 foot Ugly Stik fully assembled so that my rod bends. This how I did it and it worked out well. Try it😀
I wanted a good saltwater reel and I was gonna get the 5000 but then I saw the 8000 was the same price so I bought the Bg8000 lol I Spooled mine with 80lb braid so I can hold a little more line than I could with 100lb braid. I don’t have a specific fish I wanna catch. I just want to catch some really big fish. I think I made a good decision on picking the biggest reel for the same price as the 5000. And your right it can fit on smaller rods!
TexasGulfFishing great to hear of your choice I would've done the same.......but I know this reel will last you FOREVER so heavily built...great choice
What kind of rod are you using for that bg8000? Is it ok if I mount it on a surf rod rated for 12-30lbs line weight? Do I have to go Down to a 50lb braid
TexasGulfFishing I was using a 10 1/2 foot Ugly Stik Medium Action...and if you put 50lbs braid you'll need heavier braid than that only because you can put over 600 yards to fill the spool of an 8000.....so go with 60...or 80braid you might need to put mano line backing because you still might not have enough to fill your spool to the top.just FYI😊😊
TexasGulfFishing I forgot to say 12 to 30 weight on line capacity on your rod might be referring to Mano fishing line not braid....but just to be on the safe side 60lbs or 80lbs braid would be fine
Alright I was just confused and didn’t want to take the 80lb braid off the the spool and put on 50lb braid just because my rod was labels 12-30lbs or possibly have to buy another rod that’s 50-100lb line weight lol. But thanks man. I’m already looking into buying some more DaiwaBGs. The 8000 is the only spinning reel I have and I need a smaller reel possibly the 4000-5000BG for lake fishing. 😅😅
Joe Black the 5000 would be perfect has all the line you need I put 25lb P-line CX Moss Green with this line you can add ALL 300 yards due to it small diameter. And it very strong yet soft low memory. Fast line retrieve if your on a high bridges or peers so you have no problem reeling in a heavy fish to bring on to shore quick.
Joe Black no problem...jist so you know the 5000 might just be my favorite reel I ever had......the simple fact THAT IS FAST...gives me so much more time to fish. The reason the faster the line retrieve sooner I can get to a better spot to keep fishing saving me tons of time. Glad to help anyway I can Enjoy your new Diawa BG 5000! And thanks for watching and your comments
Kevin Alexander actually I'd recommend the BG 5000......Its the perfect balance in size speed retrieve...toughness.....weight and can put 300 yards of 25lbs Mano P-lime CX Moss Green......or Braid 60lbs 300....So depending how big of fish your catching....the 5000 BG....CAN handle fish up 35 to 50 pounds 😀
I'm a pier fisherman but recently I've been drone surf fishing and my tiny reels just don't really hold that much line in comparison to some of the guys I fish with. They have these 10000 size reels and I feel like a smart car at a dually convention. I'll look into the 5k. If it's not available I'm guessing the 6k is my next logical choice? Also, what would one even use a 8k for? I'm putting it on a Okuma Longitude 11' rod. (Didn't wanna go with anything bigger because I still want it on the pier and they have a size limit.)
Kevin Alexander ok I see what you mean now in was looking on line capacity for an 8000 and it can hold 740 yards of 50lbs braid and possibly 850 to 900 yards on 40lbs braid. As you might already know the spools are so much bigger than competing brands....so the spools of other brands like Okuma reels...hold far less line the a Daiwa BG of the same size meaning 5000 to a 5000...so about 100 yards more line capacity with bg...give or take. But there is also another option there a braid line that is the diameter of 20lbs braid but at 50lbs strength it's sold in EBay forget the name but is very exspensive 260 for 1000 yards.......so any how 6500 BG....seems more reasonable than an 8000.....so hope this info helps in any way 😀
vsonic86 I have been using them all and each pair of reels like BG 5000 2of one has braid the other mano. Same with two BG 4000 one has 30 braid the other 20 braid all are used for different methods of fishing or different weather conditions. The only reel I don't use often is the BG 8000 Because there not fish big enough to hand this reel Lol😀😀😂But hay thank you for your comments and for watching!😀😀
There are rods that are short very short and extremely tough especially if your deep sea fishing on a boat You'll be needing a real that go the depths and a small rod that can hold and 40 pound bend. Most if not always the rods that you do like the reels won't fit or vice versa. Key reasons why I appreciate and love BGs over all versatility 😃😃😃😃thanks you for watching!👀
Mhamza98 I was going to try night fishing and try for shark haven't had the chance....also I wanted to try for sting ray or bat ray.....but I need to catch at least 80 pounder or so to really test the BG 8000....Sting Ray a better test cuz there power on drag is twice as strong compared to a shark of the same weight.....ill try and show more vids thanks for your comments and Thanks for Watching 😀
Be careful with Amazon and eBay sales, some may be the JDM version of the BG with cheaper components, the handle has a crappy hexagonal shaft instead of the screw in type.
Backlashed thanks for the warning its been said that before on other RUclips channels on fishing...i haven't noticed on the reels I bought 5 of them to be exact...but thanks for keeping a look out👀👀
I just bought this reel but the heaviest braid I usually use is 30lb. I didnt research enough but love Daiwa so sure the quality will be top notch. Going to put it an 11ft Daiwa Ardito travel rod. Hope I like it lol Great vid
Your very welcome glad I could help with your decision....I still have my Daiwas....Still running incredibly strong...will make next vid soon on my 14 months use...still running GREAT! THANKS FOR WATCHING!😀😀😃
hahahhaahahahhaha thats funny hahaha....."get over here" ........*side note* what rod do you prefer with that reel...i'm gonna be doing some stingray and shark fishing and i need to know what rod is good for it and also i would like it in 1 piece...
Built 06 STI what in was using was an Ugly Stik 10 1/2 food medium action.....another powerful rod is BIG WATER SURF they come in one piece very very strong cheep to 30 to 45 to 60 dollars any size
Built 06 STI I forgot I confused these two rods Big Water Surf Rod is made from Shakespeare and the other rod is called Tsunami Tuff Tip this is the one that very cheep but extremely strong, it's heavy by the way but not by much in comparison to Ugly Stik😀😀😀
Florida Fishing Paddlers 😂😂....thats a first for me lol most of the time people say I sound or look porterican... even some Asian.....Pinoy is a first LOL😂 but I never noticed the way I sound I don't like it to much myself but I'm Hispanic 3rd generation but thanks for Watching😀😀
Felix Vargas wow good question that's a tough one.......if your going up 30lb to 60lb pounds cuz I know they are fighters...and runners 6000.....but I also heard that Daiwa Slatiga 5500...thoe coast 900$ to 1000$ can handle SERIOUSLY powerful fish like Shark, Sting RAY...yellow tail Tuna....I would go for a 6000 BG.....nut if your going deep water like 400 590yrds down a charter boat 8000 would be better fit......
Thanks for the info. After watching your video I got completely sold on the daiwa over the penn battle. I usually fish off the rocks in Mexico or off the boats in San Diego. I'm just wondering if it would be easier to cast a jig with the 6500. I'm ordering it tonight, best price I found was on ebay. My heart is wanting the 8000 because that thing is a beast. But my mind says get the 6500....???
Felix Vargas ok I'm back the questions I have for you is your saying you want to cast...or jig...im assuming heavy lures at least 2 to 4 oz the 5000 can handle that with noooooo problem it is a perfect power reel that has line retrieve of 47 inches....witch is ridiculously FAST.....i personally love this reel only because I beat the life out of it but learning to by doing so, on my other videos, I learned the the line roller needs special grease to handle constant serious pressure because I used 5oz...and up to 10 oz weights for bait fishing the grease I use is Supertech Marine Grease Works Awsome if your going to Man handle your BGs Lol😂😂 with 22lbs of drag.....the 8000 is at 33lbs of drag witch is ALOT...... My question to you is how big of fish do you plan on catching the BG 5000 can handle up 60lbs...or more....but not sure how often you'll be catching fish that size...if it's more often......6000 would be a better demand...but for lures and jigging...5000.....would be better if your below 60lbs on constant basis with Fish Size....with other issue you had on the 8000.....being hard to turn, ill will back to you on that...i had similar issues....but will find out why......so let me know how you fish what you use and how often your out fishing that will help me determine what choice is best for your fishing need...let me know every detail......this will be fun to understand and helps us all make a great choice 😀😀😀
I better get the 5000 then. Because I usually catch 25lb max fish... Sounds like that 5000 will be perfect. Thanks for all your help man. Placing my order now.. as we speak!
Kennedy Catfishing there is also another good powerful rod that is not expensive 20 to 30 dollars less than Ugly stik it's called Tsunami Ruff Tip can't find it on eBay or Amazon...but you can possibly get at any tackle shop....here in Cali Dicks..Sporting good has a 11 footer for 50$ 6 and 8 footer 35$ super strong😀😀
Diawa do not make them anymore so this is not valid anymore it was a great product . They got everyone excited then doubled the price of the next product fail Diawa .
I gt a Bg 8000..its a rubbish reel. I gt a Penn battle 2 much older reel..I gt more from this older reel than this Daiwa B.G...I will not recommend the B.G. plus spares too expensive...I personally will never buy ànother Daiwa product. The best reel Daiwa made was a multiplier Sl50 value for money caught many monsters wt this reel.
*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

Sweet. Was really worried I has fishing plans and would have had lesser expectations with my old penn 950. Thanks for a very fast response. Mahalos

How much braid did you get on the 8000? I’ve got one ready to spool. 50lb jbraide
Rexe I put 100lbs J-braid of 300 yards filled the spool perfectly. If you spool with 50lbs braid you might need 1000 yards to fill up a 8000. Fyi

25lbs Mano, I strongly suggest you get P-Lime CX 25lbs it is so soft so strong and last forever
I cant wait to get my first Bg 5000
Great to hear you wont be disappointment....built to last FOREVER.....service is simple simple spray down with water...and always keep your line roller well greased with Marine Grease and that's It!😃😃thanks for watching!
BG 6500 80 lb braid & BG 5000 60 lb braid the reels have a very good quality ratio, I am really satisfied with it ! 👊🏽✌🏽🎣

Thank you for your feedback👍🏽
Yes this BGs are very solidly built
I use the BG 6500 with a Daiwa saltiga GT86 rod 80lb max & the BG 5000 with a Daiwa Saltist surface game rod 60lb max, these two combo are perfectly with my way of fishing😃✌🏽🎣
@@ts_972 Great to Hear !New video coming soon in my over one year use on my BGs😃😃
BG 5000 To 8000 are all manual bails 4000...and under are automatic
I actually have the same rod as yours basically, just half a ft shorter. I was hoping to get a 6500 bg , just because the 8000 is a bit overkill on the wallet to spool up lol.
What PE did you used? And how many meters fits? Thanks
What is the rotor made of. Is it alumuniam or carbon.
rumel siddiqu carbon.......it makes the rotor very light as you turn....with the size 8000.....Id be comfortable to say zero flex because it's SO HUGE!
I just got one waiting on my braid to be delivered. Did you spool it yourself or take it to a shop? Any tips on spooling for a first time braid user.
Bg 6500 is similar to bg 8000 drag?
Magic O yes I believe that is correct 33lbs of Max Drag
bg 6500 or 8000? or spinfisher 7500?
@@odelaguila5003 if you want water proof 7500 spinfisher.....if you want speed and toughness BG 6500😀😀
Thank you very much, I love knowing that, I already buy the bg 6500, it is a mastodon and I also have a 4500 spinfisher.
What do you recommend bg 4000 or 5000, or 8000. I do most fishing at piers, jetties and lakes. Nice review by the way.
MyFishing Addictions just ordered one. Can’t wait to use it. Thanks
Would you recommend a 6000 or a 8000 for someone's whos looking into surf fishing?
But there is also another option there a braid line that is the diameter of 20lbs braid but at 50lbs strength it's sold in EBay forget the name but is very exspensive 260 for 1000 yards.......so any how 6500 BG....seems more reasonable than an 8000.....so hope this info helps in any way 😀
I'll jump on the 6.5k! thanks man!
Damn you have so many reels. How are you going to use them all? By the way, I love DaiwA bG!!!!!!
vsonic86 I have been using them all and each pair of reels like BG 5000 2of one has braid the other mano. Same with two BG 4000 one has 30 braid the other 20 braid all are used for different methods of fishing or different weather conditions. The only reel I don't use often is the BG 8000 Because there not fish big enough to hand this reel Lol😀😀😂But hay thank you for your comments and for watching!😀😀
why would u want to put the bg 8000 on a small rod is my question.....
I wanna see this real on some big fish do you have any videos of this real in action?
Mhamza98 I was going to try night fishing and try for shark haven't had the chance....also I wanted to try for sting ray or bat ray.....but I need to catch at least 80 pounder or so to really test the BG 8000....Sting Ray a better test cuz there power on drag is twice as strong compared to a shark of the same weight.....ill try and show more vids thanks for your comments and Thanks for Watching 😀
Cool ill be waiting for the video thanks man
Bro I'm glad you reviewed that fierce bc I was wondering about which one was the best. I'm subbing 👍
Peeling Drag Catfishing happy I could help...and Thanks for Watching and Subscribing 😀😀!!
I have the bg 2500, bg 5000 and just purchased a bg 4000. I was thinking about getting the 8000 and pair it with the Ugly stick Tiger Elite.
Be careful with Amazon and eBay sales, some may be the JDM version of the BG with cheaper components, the handle has a crappy hexagonal shaft instead of the screw in type.
Backlashed thanks for the warning its been said that before on other RUclips channels on fishing...i haven't noticed on the reels I bought 5 of them to be exact...but thanks for keeping a look out👀👀
Jdm version?
BG meaning for what?
BG means Black Gold.....or Daiwa Balck Gold spinning reel
I got a 4000, love it.
Great to hear!! I still have my first and it's working like a champ!😃😃😃 Happy to help with my videos
I just bought this reel but the heaviest braid I usually use is 30lb. I didnt research enough but love Daiwa so sure the quality will be top notch.
Going to put it an 11ft Daiwa Ardito travel rod.
Hope I like it lol
Great vid
Your very welcome glad I could help with your decision....I still have my Daiwas....Still running incredibly strong...will make next vid soon on my 14 months use...still running GREAT! THANKS FOR WATCHING!😀😀😃
hahahhaahahahhaha thats funny hahaha....."get over here" ........*side note* what rod do you prefer with that reel...i'm gonna be doing some stingray and shark fishing and i need to know what rod is good for it and also i would like it in 1 piece...
Built 06 STI what in was using was an Ugly Stik 10 1/2 food medium action.....another powerful rod is BIG WATER SURF they come in one piece very very strong cheep to 30 to 45 to 60 dollars any size
thanks.
The BGs are my new solid performers for Saltwater Paddleboard Fishing and Offshore Spin...btw you sound Pinoy
Should I get the 8000 or the 6500 for yellowtail??
Felix Vargas ill get back to in a bit.....let me ask some questions...ill get to you soon as I can
Felix Vargas ok I'm back the questions I have for you is your saying you want to cast...or jig...im assuming heavy lures at least 2 to 4 oz the 5000 can handle that with noooooo problem it is a perfect power reel that has line retrieve of 47 inches....witch is ridiculously FAST.....i personally love this reel only because I beat the life out of it but learning to by doing so, on my other videos, I learned the the line roller needs special grease to handle constant serious pressure because I used 5oz...and up to 10 oz weights for bait fishing the grease I use is Supertech Marine Grease Works Awsome if your going to Man handle your BGs Lol😂😂 with 22lbs of drag.....the 8000 is at 33lbs of drag witch is ALOT......
Same reel costs now 259.00
Wow!?!! Seriously?! I never new
@@israelvibrations100 It's ridiculous how everything is jacked up
@@israelvibrations100Never mind the one that is waterproof is 259.00 Daiwa bq
Ugh $ 129 Canadian now on amazon (prime) , but I'm still getting it
Kennedy Catfishing there is also another good powerful rod that is not expensive 20 to 30 dollars less than Ugly stik it's called Tsunami Ruff Tip can't find it on eBay or Amazon...but you can possibly get at any tackle shop....here in Cali Dicks..Sporting good has a 11 footer for 50$ 6 and 8 footer 35$ super strong😀😀

Diawa do not make them anymore so this is not valid anymore it was a great product .
They got everyone excited then doubled the price of the next product fail Diawa .
I didn't know that it has been so long since I reviewed this BG 8000
i paid 102 dollars better than 134
I gt a Bg 8000..its a rubbish reel.
