Could you maybe also test a different category, the long life bulbs? Osram Ultra Life, Philips Longlife Ecovision, Bosch Longlife Daytime? And maybe compare them also to a Standard bulb? That would be of great help for those who drive a lot with lights on 👍🏻 Your reviews are really great 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised! Your review was great! I appreciate your extensive testing procedures, detailed explanations, the quality of the test equipment and the complete data. I also like that you didn't offer opinions and simply let the days soak for itself Very professional presentation; keep up the good work!
Absolutely fantastic, Thank you for making this video for all of us too see, You did a great job, excellent speech presentation, and you didn't seem at all biased in your testing procedure. Excellent job.
The difference in light output isn't due to the "newness" of the headlight as much as the design. A reflector headlight will not spread light as much as a projector headlight, which is more uniform. Some reflectors will have a good spread, comparable to projectors. As you see in your test, the reflecors have a "hot spot" on the wall which the projectors don't. If you're measuring on the sides, you'll see that the projector offers a more uniform output. As a suggestion for your next video, try measuring at different distances from the middle of the light pattern. That way you can see how good the bulb (or the headlight) is at illuminating the side of the road. It's not important just to see directly in front of you, but also on the side if a wild animal or a person is crossing the road. Also, it gives an index of the range of the headlight. In EU headlights, the cutoff is to the right and therefore the headlights will shine much further on the right side than on to the left, giving you better visibility. If the headlight or bulb fails to provide enough light output for you to see good in the distance, then you have less reaction time. I'm curious about your next video! You're doing an amazing job!
That's why the more appropriate measurement would be the light output in lumens -- which means the lux (spot) light output integrated over the larger surface area.
Great video! I enjoyed watching it, with a very surprising outcome. I' ve had the Philips Racing Vision last year and they lasted me about 3 months. Was pretty good to get me through the winter, but a slightly less powerfull bulb that lasts twice as long would have my preference right now. So the Bosch seem pretty good. Thanks!
Rick, either you drive on very rough roads or you have a fault somewhere. My car has 4 headlights, foglamps and daylight running lamps (not led). I'm close to 110K kms, mostly country roads more than a third at night. All bulbs are original factory supplied.

Over time the color temperature of these "xenon style bulbs" will become warmer as the blue tinting in the bulb starts burning off due to heat, becoming more yellow and less white. This is just an inevitable reality with the heat of halogen bulbs. I've had a couple sets of these blue glass xenon style (Sylvania and Hella) and they both turned back to normal color after a couple months.
this ones are better for cold weather coz its heat up unlike led bulb, ill be changing to halogen bulbs this winter and leds for summer, coz white led bulbs are only for looks
@@gravemind6536They are not superior in keeping ice on the headlight under control. They produce less heat so in winter conditions the heat won't meld the ice on the outer lenses. Halogens are also less expensive, so that's already two accounts where led is not superior.

Enjoyed watching you video! Interesting to see the differences in light output. A couple of observations: you need to be careful with sample variation. Testing only one bulb for endurance is not a very accurate test. I understand it would be difficult for you to do so but such an endurance test should be averaged over several different samples (the more the better the accuracy). And the reflector type lamp has a very pronounced hot spot in the light. The number of lux is therefore a lot higher but the real question is: how does this type of lamp perform in the real world at night. .
After a year of using the Osram Cool Blue H7 the glass already showed a black film witch resulted in vast descent of brightness. Had to throw them in the bin long before they burned out. Since then I use the Philips WhiteVisions 3700k and 4200k. These last very long and stay clear until they die. I don't notice a colour difference between the 3700k and the 4200k version. I just ordered retrofit LED bulbs from Osram (LEDRIVING HL H7) and Philips Ulinon LED H7. I am curious about hte difference in lighting and lifespan.

For the next test of any sort of light you should mention the voltage at which the luminosity and color are checked. I'm a bit sad i didn't find your channel sooner, i did buy a Phillips bulb for my bike a week ago :( Great work and thank you for doing this!
Hi Daniel, and thanks for you appreciation and observation. You are correct, the bulbs should have been tested at 14V as this simulates real usage more accurately. The tests that were already filmed, were done using a 12V power supply and I plan to use that in my future videos. That way we can compare the results with the previous ones. Ride safe!
yeh they are, the problem is, that most headlights does not have a correct way of inserting an LED bulbs into headlights, as they are too big, and simply not made to go inside the, which means you'll have the lightbulb just hanging in there and moving all over the place whilst driving, with xenon normal bulbs like that we used those small metal brackets to lock bulbs in place, however yes, LED does provide white light, but it is not safe, to use, as they are not standard type bulbs.

How odd. This is not the experience I've had with the Philips WhiteVision. I've used them in projectors and they do provide a much more noticeably white light at a pretty good brightness. This has the advantage of making the light bounce back from road signs featuring white retro-reflective material and providing a better contrast to the rest of the sign. One thing to note though, with your tests. The lamps you are using have a US DOT beam pattern which I consider dangerous since it doesn't provide enough coverage to the nearside area, so from a distance pedestrians cannot be easily seen - the sharp cut-off created by projectors makes the problem worse. The ECE pattern is much safer since the sidewalk is lit up more effectively (compare DOT to ECE) and is better suited for projectors, even with the sharp cut off.
