This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. The editing, commentary, detail of tests, quality, and your personal intelligence are top notch. Just enjoyed your video over dinner. This is only the second video of yours that I’ve watched, I look forward to seeing them all. In regards to this video, I was surprised that there’s still an aftermarket for halogen, when anyone who’s looking for brighter light, can just purchase a cheapo $30 HID kit online even though those kits are terrible with quality and glare, your average consumer who isn’t knowledgeable will never know/care. I remember back in the early 2000’s, before aftermarket HID’a were even available, there was a HUGE aftermarket for Halogen bulbs. When I got my license and first car in 2004, I remember going to the local parts store and picking us a set of the “Silverstar” bulbs. They were expensive too! I think they were about $70 or $80 which is well over $100 in today’s money. I remember being so excited to see anything cooler in temp than the usual very yellow halogen. To my disappointment, they only appeared slightly less yellow, but I remember still being so excited to have something close to all the new expensive luxury cars driving around with HID’s. Only 2 years later, in 2006, I bought my first aftermarket HID kit, and was amazed at the difference. They went into reflector housings, and even though I was aware they gave off terrible glare, I tried to aim them as low as possible to stop the glare from blinding people. It still didn’t work as I got flashed constantly. This is what pushed me to get more into lighting because i wanted better light, but without blinding people. That’s when I really got into projectors, and later that year (in 2006) I bought a used BMW 3-Series, and finally was able to have OEM Xenon projectors, which I later modded and did a retrofit of some Acura projectors. Anyways, my point here is by watching this video, you took me back in time to when I was a teen, and that feeling of hoping my new halogen bulbs will look “blue like the nice cars” 😂😂😂😂 Anyways, keep up the great content and take care.
@@SergiuGabor In Australia, drop in HID or LED upgrade kits are illegal to use for road cars used on public roads. An Australian car can be upgraded with HIDs as long as this was a factory option when the car was new, the headlight washers must be present and functional, and the performance of the upgraded HIDs must be identical to the original factory HID option. Simply put, for the most part, a proper and legal HID upgrade is just not worth it due to the cost and bother involved. 🦘🇦🇺
Superb video. Just what I've been looking for, for my GL1800 Honda Goldwing. I've tried Ozrams on one of the cars and as good as they were they blew within weeks so I didn't buy again. Ozram have a motorcycle H7 which is supposed to be more robust but if it is why not make it the standard for all vehicles? So, I've been considering Philips. Trouble is, changing headlight bulbs on a GL1800 is done by feel, and you need very small hands, so it's not something I want to be doing on a trip because it's not a 5 minute job. But after watching your video I've decided that the small gain in light with Ozram or Philips is not worth the increased risk of bulb failure and I've decided to stick with the standard H7's. A big thank you.
Life of phillips racing vision: I upgraded from my stock bulbs to racing vision (10x expensive than the stock). But it lasted only 7 months. Low beam filament got broken!!!
This is the first objective testing I've seen for car light bulbs. Others have only been subjective with questionable inconsistencies in testing conditions. Tests were very extensive and thorough too. Well done.
You have no idea how useful is this video...especially for a girl. Hi there and thank you from the bottom of my "I have no idea what to buy for my car". New subscriber here ^_^
Having had both the osram and the Philips I can say that the Philips are a whiter light and last longer than the osram. The osram lasted 6 months, the Philips are still in just over 1 year later.
I bought a set of Osram Nightbreakers for my Megane. Literally just the other day one died at just a little over 18 months. Given the OE bulbs lasted YEARS that's not great. Light output was OK but no discernable difference over the factory fit H7s.
I had those Philips also in my car and they lasted almost 2 year even promised on box 450 hour lifetime. Much whiter light dunno are those more luminous but at least you can see light better instead regular more yellow light tone.
The failure mode of the Hella bulb is typical of filament lamps used in vehicle applications. The vibration causes the filament to break and the filament to move around with further vibration. This continued movement often causes the broken filament to reconnect and "weld" itself back together. Thus creating a shorter filament with lower resistance, higher current and higher light output - until the filament finally burns out again or breaks.
real-life experience with H7 Osram Night Breaker vs Philips 130+ in reflection based headlamps: - both have basically the same light, but give just a bit more visibility than normal H7s - i bought 2 pairs of Osrams, these lasted 3 months and 4 months. on each pair the bulbs burned-out one after the other in a 1 week interval/offset - after Osram i moved on to Philips 130+. i am using now the 3'rd pair of Philips, the first pair lasted 8 months(8 months 1'st bulb, and 9 months the 2'db bulb), the others burned-out after more than 11 months, with higher offset burn-out between the bulbs on each pair. so...philips all the way for me
Yes, it is just like an old 60 watt incandescent home light bulb you bought in the 1990s. The light output is the same, no matter which brand you opted for at the shops. If a driver wants a beer lighting and illumination experience, just buy a newer 2020s car with LED or laser headlights.
Very scientific tests, great job. So many online reviews are from someone who bought a bulb and is compared to their old, worn out bulbs. Great videos and great information, bravo bro!
I don't think it was a problem with the power supply. It was the bulb burning out. Sometimes normal home light bulbs go out the same way. I guess it's because the filament somewhere gets thinner and this means it gives out more light. For a very little while, because as you said, this causes the temperature to rise dramatically in that part of the filament and it burns out. So you could include the result from Hela.
Mulțumesc pentru apreciere. Din păcate, in momentul de față, timpul nu imi permite să mă dedic mai mult canalului, dar in viitor daca acesta va crește, cu siguranță voi posta mai des.
I didn't notice any difference switching from my stock H7 and H1 to Philips XtraVisaion and Osram NBU.. because my Car manufacturer Tata, Unlike Koreans didn't use absolute Minimum legal brightness bulb. When I removed my stock and checked one side was Philips, other side was Osram.

Finally a fair review. Let's not forget when they fool us with "150% more light" that all bulbs have a maximum lumen rating by ECE that producers should adhere to.
The Osram NightBreaker lasers that I had, lasted 2 weeks. With less than 500 km of driving on asphalt roads in decent condition, I don't think I'll ever buy anything by Osram. Sent them email and the only reply I got was "Well, they shouldn't really break _that_ quickly." Nothing else. I really should've made them give me new ones or just pay me back but I was extremely busy back then and didn't really have the time nor the energy to anything about it. Just bought a different pair of bulbs and went on with my life.
After many years I was using the night breaker series in H4 and H1, I decided to try out H7 Philips Racing vision gt200 one in projector lamps for low beam and reflector as high beam. The difference is quite high in my opinion. For the endurance I will watch it, since I use at least low beam day and night. Especially for high beam the Philips version is a great advance, I can definitely recommend it. I have a 2005 Chevrolet Lacetti which was equipped with H4 lamps. I am still a bit disappointed of their lighting ability, so I replaced them by original Suzuki Reno headlights which fit perfectly to the Daewoo/Chevrolet model. Only the connectors had to be adjusted. Thank you for the great video!

I so nearly bought a new set of Osram bulbs for my megane... glad I found your video as you've saved me a lot of money! Awesome stuff, you're an amazing valuable content supplier!
Hi Sergiu, I am a first time viewer of your channel, and I am very impressed with the way you communicate with your audience and how you explain in detail, the various light outputs and color differences. Today's episode was very helpful to me, and know I have subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great work Sergiu.
@@SergiuGabor The bottom line is that with respect to tested lux output with the expensive Osram and Philips halogen upgrade bulbs, there is not much of a difference compared to the ordinary and inexpensive Hella bulb (603 lux). The Osram (616 lux) and the Philips (653 lux) only offer a lux improvement of +2% and +8%, respectively. Given the high prices of these premium ‘upgraded’ halogen bulbs, the measured gains are just not worth the cost. Indeed, the English channel host Volkswizard stated that he was unable to discern a “dynamic” improvement when upgrading to the Osrams. Moreover, Volkswizard stated that the primary visual difference is the cooler colour temperature output is more pleasing as it is closer to what is delivered with more modern cars with LED headlights. I think the takeaway from these tests and observations from both Romania and England is that if a driver wants a superior and contemporary headlight and illumination experience, just buy a newer and better 2020s car with factory LED or laser headlights. ruclips.net/video/VBYx5CsPO8A/видео.html
Finally a comparison!! I changed my OEM H4 2 years ago against .. Osram NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED H4 (checked my orders) :D and it is for sure better. Strangely the low beam is more yellow like while the high beam is more white... But Philips might be even better once my osram dies. Have it now about 15000km on my motorcycle.
Super fain episodul. Succes in continuare!
Hallo. Can you please put also GE Megalight +150% into the test ? These bulbs had good reviews and were winners in german tests. Thank you you are doing a great job ;-)
laser frate :) I used Philips racing vision in the past. first impression was that they were brighter. No placebo, because i compared the lights during assembly I used them for 3 years and then one burned and replaced it with the original hella.... surprisingly there was no more difference between the two. maybe the blue filter got worn in time. Nice video. keep it going
No it's not the blue filter, actually halogen lamps do get slightly dimmer towards the end of their life. For some reason neither Osram nor Philips quote this figure in their data sheets for automotive lamps, but you will find these figures in their data sheets for hosehold halogen lamps. The most similar one would be the 12V 50W hosehold halogen lamp (for example, Osram HALOSTAR PRO 50 W 12 V GY6.35). It says it has a light output of *80%* of it's initial value at the end of it's life. So if you replace used halogen lamps with new ones, the new ones are almost always slightly brighter, even if it's the same product.
There is NO SUCH thing as “increased current”! That power supply DOES NOT change the current output! Do you know ohm’s law? The only way for more current would be if the filament changes, which is what happened here likely: Filament broke and got reattached momentarily with the shaking (less resistance after breaking, more current, more light, burned).
I'm a quality engineer, not an electrical engineer, that's why I was not sure what happened. The camera was set to record 1 frame/5sec, so after the Philips bulb died, only one frame was recorded with the Hella bulb working, but the light output was way higher. From my point of view, it's unlikely that both bulbs from Philips and Hella would burn-out at the same time.
I just bought 2 sets of Osram "Lasers" for my car, and watching this video I suddenly remembered that I fitted my wife's car with some Philips ExtremeVision and they didn't last more than one year so I expect the same or worse fate with the Osrams.
Multumesc
if you check the lifetime hours of the +150% bulbs you can save up this video 🤣🤣🤣🤣 they so short-lived to do a video "wirhout shock" takes more time😉😉 between +100%~+130% you can take perfomance buls but all over +150€ ultra short-lived you can save up money and installation 😐 all Phillips, Osram, GE... manufactored in same factory but durability of phillips is best followed from GE and worst Osram.

Friends Dont bye this light philips Racing vision is just west of money on road .I am use this . Use philips light cutout wiring and use100/120 light bulb .for betar light on road .
It could be said lazer etched halogen lamp housing allmost all halogens are same ....as I changed different manufacturers ....lazer light are diodes or led as in BMW's. ...I got 60w to 90 watt halogens but with ceramic holders n new relay circuts in suv ....they were blinding effect intense light
Philips is shit.High lumen Philips bulb doesn't last. After 2 months Philips broke down. When it broke for 3rd times I changed to Airam and it never led me down.
What the heck my HIDs are 10yrs old and still strong. These bulbs last a year? Oh yes its a filament... I get it... Was thinking of using philips racing for my other car... This made me think.
Great performance but terrible lifespan. My last set of Phillips both gave up during an MOT. Osram seemed slightly better. If you are going to use them make sure you carry spares.
How can you say no suprise the hid xenon is illegal because it's 900 lux. The factory hid are as Bright or Brighter as are the ridiculous LED headlights that for some reason no longer require self levellers like HIDs did. The brightness is not the problem but the glare. Not all HID bulbs are the same and neither are all headlights so retrofit is a challenge. Some halogen oem set ups are dangerous due to such poor light.
Hi Sergiu. Great channel and amazing content :) I am owner of motorcycle with standard H4 headlamp bulb and I would like to upgrade. As I can see, you are really expert at that field. I would like to ask you for help, if you maybe can recommend me, what would be your choice to improve vision? Thanks a lot and all the best in New Year from Croatia ;)
I've fitted Philips racing vision six months ago in my 05 corolla, really pleased with the results but only last 6 months. It's a pain to fit them and they are not cheap but I'd buy them again.
I've used Phillips racing vision in a couple of cars - all still working after 20 months although I can't tell if they are dimming now or if my eyes are getting worse
Completely normal for a filament bulb to be super bright just before it goes out. It’s because the coil shorts, resulting in less resistance thus drawing more current at the same voltage. This creates a brief over temperature = more light and whiter light before the filament melts completely. Also used bulbs can actually become brighter than new bulbs because if micro cracks in the filament resulting in micro arcs (like xenon arc bulbs) even though they will actually draw less current because of higher resistance due to cracks = effectively thinner filament.
Thankyou johny sins 😢
Good job finally a review that goes into the review and so leave with not only what is the best but also what to look for. 👍

Yeah, I'm planning to.

This continued movement often causes the broken filament to reconnect and "weld" itself back together. I so nearly bought a new set of Osram bulbs for my megane... glad I found your video as you've saved me a lot of money! Awesome stuff, you're an amazing valuable content supplier!
I laughed soooo hard when he revealed how a laser was incorporated with the making of osram headlight bulb
Hi Sergiu, I am a first time viewer of your channel, and I am very impressed with the way you communicate with your audience and how you explain in detail, the various light outputs and color differences. Today's episode was very helpful to me, and know I have subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great work Sergiu.
Thank you very much! I hope that you'll like the upcoming videos and if you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Finally a comparison!!
I changed my OEM H4 2 years ago against ..
Osram NIGHT BREAKER UNLIMITED H4 (checked my orders) :D
and it is for sure better.
Strangely the low beam is more yellow like while the high beam is more white...
But Philips might be even better once my osram dies.
Have it now about 15000km on my motorcycle.
Hello, will you make a comparison of the Philips GT200 against Philips RV150 and Philips Xtreme vision Pro 150.
Thanks
Keep up the good work! You're the best!
Super fain episodul. Succes in continuare!
Hallo. Can you please put also GE Megalight +150% into the test ? These bulbs had good reviews and were winners in german tests. Thank you you are doing a great job ;-)
Felicitari pt acest video.Foarte bine realizat.
laser frate :)
I used Philips racing vision in the past. first impression was that they were brighter. No placebo, because i compared the lights during assembly
I used them for 3 years and then one burned and replaced it with the original hella.... surprisingly there was no more difference between the two. maybe the blue filter got worn in time.
Nice video. keep it going
Hi Sergiu, can you test for us Philips White Vision Ultra vs Night Breaker Laser Next Generation?
Or at least can you tell me which one is better?
Thanks johnny sins!
💀
Dude you need to measure, at 20m, 40m, 60m and further.... the LUXes would be similar at closer distances (
Testele de combustibil sunt in plan si o sa discutăm despre ele in următorul episod.
😂😂
The racing vision lastet 22 months driving regularly.
The Nightbreaker in my car is not that old yet.
can u test hella powerblue??vs night breaker laser new gen
Bought the Phillips couple of days ago after watching this video, today they have failed! I took out Osram which were working perfectly. Smh
😢
philips white vision = best /price/perf/endurance
Great piece of information. Thanks!
Initially I thought its Johnny Sins😜
Multumesc
I understand why u make content in English but let me say this: Faci un content prea bun :))))) si imi place si Mi Band tau
😂 multumesc!
You are a really cool person ,
Please test SYLVANIA LED 9007 - Compared with Chinese counterparts, I'm confused to buy - Ford Crown Victoria
if you check the lifetime hours of the +150% bulbs you can save up this video 🤣🤣🤣🤣
they so short-lived to do a video "wirhout shock" takes more time😉😉
between +100%~+130% you can take perfomance buls but all over +150€ ultra short-lived you can save up money and installation 😐 all Phillips, Osram, GE... manufactored in same factory but durability of phillips is best followed from GE and worst Osram.
E binca ca faci in engleza, ca poti prinde si pe cei "din afara" , insa vezi ca si 99Vehicles a inceput cu clipuri in engleza si un canal dedicat in engleza si pe urma cand a inceput sa faca content in romana si pentru romani a prins mult mai bine. :D spor!
Please, compare a car's bulb vs a motorcycle's bulb. I think the increase in price is only hype.
He looked like johny sins
Te salut! Pentru un Q5 2015 ce xenon mi-ai recomanda...Osram D3S Laser Xenarc + 200% sau Philips D3S white vision 5000k ? Mulțumesc.
Very useful video. Tks for sharing this info
Era mai misto in Romana, avea alt vine filmarea, desi inteleg engleza fara subtitrare
Friends Dont bye this light
philips Racing vision is just west of money on road .I am use this .
"Sixhundred and thirty-five lux"
Asuming you mean six-hubdred and fifty-three?
Nice review though!
Best comparison on RUclips! Very good, keep going!
Please make the video of xenon HID and LED in projectors output
Also select crystal eye HID 65W 6000K

Philips is not a Dutch company anymore for many years. It's been sold to a Chinese investor. So It's China owned company nowadays.
Amazing high Quality review! Thank you!
Waiting for the claimed 200% bulbs from Osram Night breaker and Philips GT200
Hi Sergiu. Great channel and amazing content :)
I am owner of motorcycle with standard H4 headlamp bulb and I would like to upgrade. As I can see, you are really expert at that field.
I would like to ask you for help, if you maybe can recommend me, what would be your choice to improve vision?
Thanks a lot and all the best in New Year from Croatia ;)
This is a great video. Such an effort and so much information. THANK YOU buddy.
The best comparison ever.. excellent 👍
I've fitted Philips racing vision six months ago in my 05 corolla, really pleased with the results but only last 6 months. It's a pain to fit them and they are not cheap but I'd buy them again.
Wow, my Osram Night Breaker laser is more than a year now and still working fine.
Btw I’m an electrical engineer so if I can contribute to your channel in any way just reach out. Think your work is great!
