Yes, I am also deeply saddened by this as well...and I saw Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage as well in theaters. I knew it would be bad from the trailer, but they had to know they were butchering the Maximum Carnage storyline. They knew, and didn't care. They just knew they'd be making money off the name Carnage, and off the Venom Vs. Carnage battle fans had been wanting for YEARS. And it SUCKED. Venom 3, don't even bother. It's just Venom 2, but WORSE. The Venom movies only got worse and worse. Kraven is an uninteresting character already, and isn't interesting enough to carry his own movie. Nobody was asking for a Kraven Vs. The Rhino fight, it's just like Venom Vs. Carnage, or Morbius vs. Milo. It's a whole buildup that amounts to a whole fight of NOTHING. Nobody cared about The Foreigner Vs. Kraven fight, either. Nobody asked for it, and no one wanted it. Foreigner isn't a Kraven villain, he's probably barely even a Spider-Man villain. Rhino and Kraven ARE Spider-Man villains, but Web-Head isn't in the movie, so why bother?

This movie was directed by J. C. Chandor, who has a really good track record with acclaimed films such as Margin Call, All Is Lost, and A Most Violent Year. Until Kraven the Hunter, Chandor’s worst film by default was Triple Frontier, which is a pretty good action movie on Netflix. Richard Wenk, who wrote all three of The Equalizer movies, also has a screenplay credit. And these two STILL weren’t a match for Sony’s terrible meddling and the duo who wrote Transformers: The Last Knight. Anyone else REALLY nervous about Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man: Noir TV series? Sony really needs to just give the full rights to these characters back to Marvel. They’ve proven over and over again that they have no idea what to do with them.
To be fair, Kraven isn't usually portayed as "evil". He's usually either an over-the-top confident celebrity and needs to be taken down a peg or he's been blackmailed to fight Spider-man.
They have still made Venom into multiple billion dollar successes. They aren't going to just not do a new venom series, they really can't afford NOT to do so . I just wonder if they've made enough with venom to offset their losses on the rest.
The bad guy's plan to hunt Kraven literally made my mind recoil from facepalming. They show up outside his home base with armoured trucks, automatic weapons and dozens of armed men in a wide open field. They are in the perfect position to set up a perimeter and lure Kraven out into the open by using his brother as hostage bait, where they can exploit the lack of cover, long range and clear sight lines to snipe or mow him down with concentrated fire. But rather than doing that, they instead decide to just...march blindly into the forest which is full of tight corners, dark crevices, foliage cover and more places to be ambushed from than sand particles in the Sahara. It's like they were just *asking* to get annihilated. I could not believe they actually did something as straightforwardly sumb as that. The mind of a Sony writer is truly astounding.
When they're saying the Sony Spider-Man universe is over they're talking about these Spider-Manless movies are over. So Venom -> Kraven. Idk why this concept is hard to grasp. So we're not getting Silver Sable or Agent Venom. Those movies are dust.

I doubt this lion had territory much larger than my city. This lion, over 10 years, killed 3% of my local population lol.
I didn’t think it was bad personally. I’m pretty critical of movies and also a huge fan of Kraven as a marvel character. I hate to say it but I think there was a bit of a bandwagon of hate towards this film in light of recent Super Hero movies not doing as well in general, Madam web and Morbius being the prime culprits of this. I’m not saying it was a masterpiece by any means, but it wasn’t a bad film.
This is not surprising. You cannot make a Spider-Man based universe without Spider-Man. Especially if they’re trying to lead it up to a sinister six movie. Most of the villains aren’t even villains in the movies. What beef do they really have with Spidey to form a group to fight him? This was doomed to fail from the start.
Pre- and post-Christmas releases are traditionally when studios shovel their worst flops out, aware they'll bomb and lose a fistful of money, but hoping to recoup some of the costs and not do too much reputational damage with audiences distracted by Christmas etc. This has all the marks of being another stinker, and ctitics are panning it globally.
Kraven was originally going to be a summer release but Sony pushed it back to December. Sony probably did this after seeing how bad Madame Web flopped so they wanted decided to have this movie release after Venom 3.
I knew this movie would be terrible when i saw Rhino was the main villain because Rhino is a henchmen and the muscle. Hes never been the main threat i dont think even once. The only way youd be able to make him that here is if you change the character so much to the point its basically a different character but even that wouldnt save it. Only thing that might have is if they found a way to make the predator the villain somehow which im surprised hasnt happened in the comics given marvel owns the rights to both now

it would be slightly worse than average, because technically average is 5.5. So 5 is basically mediocre. And therefore it's logical that 4 is where the bad starts, at least for me
0s dont HAVE to exist and you would hope that they dont. I dont even think a 0 is realistically on the scale, the worst things would probably be a 1. You're taking the idea of most review scales using 7 or 8 for average and never rating anything from 1-5 and trying to extrapolate it all the way to 0, a non-score. If a score represents "average" or slightly below or above average then most scores for multi-million dollar productions would fall within that range.

If they're going to go that route, then they least they can do is hire someone passionate about the character to make the film. It could be low budget, like the 1994 Fantastic Four movie that was made simply to retain the license. That movie actually isn't too bad, because the people who made it really liked the characters, and it shows in the film.

I didn’t think it was bad personally. I’m pretty critical of movies and also a huge fan of Kraven as a marvel character. I hate to say it but I think there was a bit of a bandwagon of hate towards this film in light of recent Super Hero movies not doing as well in general, Madam web and Morbius being the prime culprits of this. I’m not saying it was a masterpiece by any means, but it wasn’t a bad film.
Mannn… I like this actor, but he was not a good casting for Kraven. Not sure who would be better, but he just doesn’t feel right for the role

This is not surprising. You cannot make a Spider-Man based universe without Spider-Man. Especially if they’re trying to lead it up to a sinister six movie. Most of the villains aren’t even villains in the movies. What beef do they really have with Spidey to form a group to fight him? This was doomed to fail from the start.

The movie was fun, too many people think they’re critics, and enjoying being hateful.
Pre- and post-Christmas releases are traditionally when studios shovel their worst flops out, aware they'll bomb and lose a fistful of money, but hoping to recoup some of the costs and not do too much reputational damage with audiences distracted by Christmas etc. This has all the marks of being another stinker, and ctitics are panning it globally.
Kraven was originally going to be a summer release but Sony pushed it back to December. Sony probably did this after seeing how bad Madame Web flopped so they wanted decided to have this movie release after Venom 3.

I knew this movie would be terrible when i saw Rhino was the main villain because Rhino is a henchmen and the muscle. Hes never been the main threat i dont think even once. The only way youd be able to make him that here is if you change the character so much to the point its basically a different character but even that wouldnt save it. Only thing that might have is if they found a way to make the predator the villain somehow which im surprised hasnt happened in the comics given marvel owns the rights to both now

If you never give a 0, 5 is NOT actually average (middle of the scale), it would be just below average.
It doesn't matter if he never gives a 0, because the scale still has a 0; therefore, a 5 is still average on the scale.
it would be slightly worse than average, because technically average is 5.5. So 5 is basically mediocre. And therefore it's logical that 4 is where the bad starts, at least for me
0s dont HAVE to exist and you would hope that they dont. I dont even think a 0 is realistically on the scale, the worst things would probably be a 1. You're taking the idea of most review scales using 7 or 8 for average and never rating anything from 1-5 and trying to extrapolate it all the way to 0, a non-score. If a score represents "average" or slightly below or above average then most scores for multi-million dollar productions would fall within that range.
exactly. i dont buy his scale because "average" doesnt actually mean anything. average can be amazing or terrible. he talks about wishywashy scores but then he has this average that actually isnt the average point considering all the reviews
What is up with Sony and rhinos? It reminds me of the producer who wanted to have a huge spider in Superman movie. And then he produced Wild Wild West and that spider made it into the movie. Seems like some people in power have very weird ideas and nobody is there to stop them.

If they're going to go that route, then they least they can do is hire someone passionate about the character to make the film. It could be low budget, like the 1994 Fantastic Four movie that was made simply to retain the license. That movie actually isn't too bad, because the people who made it really liked the characters, and it shows in the film.
