  • ‘Choice-filter’ is a fun little feature in XLSForm that allows you to dynamically change the response-options in a select-one or a select-multiple question type.
Have you ever wanted to ask two select-one questions in a row - with the same option list - but in the second question, exclude the option that was selected in the first question?
Or, have you ever wanted to collect location data using a ‘cascade select’ - where only towns in a selected region are able to be selected, rather than all the towns in your list?
I cover this and more in the tutorial!
⬇️ You can download CHOICE FILTER TEMPLATE XLSForm I use in the video here:

Thanks for the video. Just last week I use choice-filter in one of my surveys. In the first question the respondent selected some attributes that he likes and in the following i use choice filter to rank those attributes (with the rank widget)

I need to apply the choice filter that allow me to pick the choices from previous questions labels, and only for the questions that have a definite value. For example: the question label will be added to the choices if we answered "yes" to this question

Hi this an excellent tutorial, Could you please let us know how we can do the same thing in repeat group in the same question? e.g. in the question A, there may be five option, if I select option-1, then in the repeat table in the same question rest of the 4 option will be shown.

Is there any way i can add description of each choice or hyperlink choice in anyway? I think hyperlinking is impossible. I also know that the only way I can add description or note to a choice is through adding it as a picture. But I was wondering if this is possible? please let me know as am on a crunch deadline and out of options really :/

    Thanks for your valuable sharing.
I'm a user of arcgis survey123. However, I have a few questions that I can't find the answer to. May I ask for your support?
    FIRST QUESTION
I have several groups in my survey (one group per page)
I do not want the 2nd group questions to appear before the markings in the 1st group are completed.
Likewise, I do not want the 3rd group questions to appear before the markings in the 2nd group are completed. Is it possible?
    SECOND QUESTION
When my survey is left unfinished, is it possible to design a survey that I can complete (without asking mandatory questions) by marking the visit code as "Abandoned survey"? (Shortly what I'm asking is, can I add a trigger to end the survey)

Can I ask how to add again the other, specify if it's already selected in the previous question in this filter? I want to create a question which if I add specify in multiple select question in Rank 1, I want to again add more specify rank if already selected in rank 2

Hi! I think I know what you mean. Can you watch the video starting at about 15:14 ruclips.net/video/frQMW_GNRdg/видео.html and watch especially how we create the choice-filter formula using 'contains' - see if you can replicate that in your use-case? Let us know if that works.
