  • This gun received a lot of criticism. I don’t know why! For $300 you can’t ask for more.

I have two 783s with 5 extra barrels ( a total of 7 barrels). I don't understand why people "hate" these rifles. They are great rifles.

Got one in 223 and one in 300 win mag. I go shooting once a year desert camping. Very accurate, goes boom when you pull the trigger and have no regrets buying them.

I got the same rifle in 308..I put a new Nikon 308 on it and shoot good ammo through it..it’s a Deer killing machine that is very accurate and yes the bolt on mine is smooth as silk!!Great gun to do some Deer Killing with!!

Yes so true. When you have a cheap beater rifle you don’t have a lot of money into and aren’t worried about it and see it as a tool you will shoot better. Beater 22-50 shooting varmets all the time will make you a deer slayer.

I bought this rifle in 243 for my son as his first rifle. Smoked two deer with it and can make a cloverleaf at 100 yards on targets. We've had a great experience with it. For $350 including a scope!!! It's a good deal. I took the cheap scope off and put a leupold 3x9 vx freedom on there and it's dead on ever season we take it out.

You are right on. I bought one last week and it is better than my 40 yr old Remington model 700 which is an excellent rifle.

Great video. I agree with you. I've got a couple of these and they shoot just fine. Shoots good groups with factory loads. The deer&coyotes go down and dont get back up. Seems like the current fad is to criticize everything Remington does. Not sure why that is--all gun companies are making entry level/inexpensive rifles in the same fashion. I wish you a good hunting season.

I have one in a 300 mag. I just put a scope on it but have not yet shot it. I don't have anything bad to say about it, The action is smooth as butter. The trigger on mine is adjustable, It was set at 5# out of the box and I adjusted it down to 2.5#, It's a smooth crisp trigger. I can't wait to get it out and sight it in. Some people are just never happy unless they are complaining about something...lol.

I've seen the complete opposite on reviews. 90% of them have been great. Mine is a .270 too with a Leupold VX2. Whoever can't take deer with a 783 couldn't take a deer with an A-10 Warthog. Her name is "Formality" because if i see deer in the woods, I'm going to drag it out. I get nothing, but heart shots with her. I got it to hold me over until I could afford a 700 CDL 10 years ago, but my 783 hasn't given me any reason to upgrade to a 700 CDL and I've seen a lot of 700 owners buying 783s as beater guns and ending up using them exclusively over their 700s.

You are exactly right about this rifle, it’s the 770 that is a major pos.

I now remember remington made 3 different rifles, the first one was and still is , real shitty, the one you got now? And the tactical one with a big oversize knob , soon if I'm lucky I will get the top of the line tactical one.

I have one in 243 and cycling the bolt feels like a box of rocks but I like it still. I wonder if your accuracy comes from the caliber rather than the rifle. I also had a Mossberg ATR in 270 and at 80 yards knocking out clay pidgins . I sold it and regretted it ever since and the guy who bought it is at family gatherings and he tells me how great that rifle is. I think it’s just the caliber is inherently an awesome caliber. I have not used it as much as the others but I got it to hunt coyotes and deer. I think it will be fine for either.

Funny, I’ve watched half a dozen RUclips reviews and all of them were positive.

I have a Remington 700 in .270 and I hate it. If all you do is shoot 1-3 bullets through it a year for a hunt, then it’s fine. I can can get .5” groups for the first 3 rounds and after that I get nothing but flyers. I wait about 10 minutes in between shots and shoot my .17 WSM while I wait. I don’t have the same issues with my Browning, Savage, or Weatherby rifles and my friend also has a 700 in 30-06 and he has the same issue.
