How to Update the Firmware in a Nikon DSLR

In this video, I update the firmware of a Nikon DSLR. For the purpose of this tutorial, I'm using the Nikon D5100, but the procedure is the same for any Nikon DSLR camera. The firmware is simply built-in software that controls certain features of the camera - so Nikon occasionally releases them to add new enhancements, improve existing features, or to fix defects. Updating the firmware always involves some risk, but I'll be following the precautions and guidelines listed in Nikon's instructions. #Nikon #D5100

I have followed every step but when it comes inserting the sd card back in the camera, there was no labeled update. I still have the old version a- 1.01 and b 1.01, what am I missing?

When you downloaded the file, did the Windows version match the version that you are running currently? If all else fails, it is essentially a bin file that is compressed within an executable, so you should be able to run a 7Zip or Winrar utility and open the EXE file, then extract the bin file from there.

Question : If A and B is the same number , that means I dont need an UPDATE , i am reffering to NIKON D3000 DSLR device

I didn't see an update on the US site, but you can think of the A and B versions as independent of each other. If either one has an incremented update (A or B), you can apply the A/B update to both.
