I think it’s so much better homemade than out of the box, we grew up on the box kind but now that I am older trying to watch sodium I been doing it myself and it’s very tasty that way ❤great video, would like to see more like these! 🎉
I've always made hamburger helper homemade, but not because it was cheaper. I did it because my husband hated the storebought and begged me not to buy it. I always loved it so had to get creative. Everyone loved it. I think it was .59 a box in 1975-ish, and hamburger was somewhere around .55-.60 lb. Making it homemade was about the same price...maybe a bit cheaper. With todays prices, it's definitely cheaper to make homemade!! Great comparison, Carolina! 🥰
Another great video Carolina! Loved " going shopping" with I you, so fun and what a nice store! Wish we had one like that here. When I lived in NYC ,we had markets like those, miss that! Lol I need move back🤣I love that Nido powdered milk, its great. Also am getting the powdered butter, think will also save money. Thanks again for sharing!!❤
My WinCo has the powedered milk and also powdered cheese sauce in the bulk bins too, also ranch seasoning I think, plus many other ingredients you could use to make hamburger helper inspired dinners.
Most online recipes with pasta only ask for 12ozs. I always add the full box but throws off the recipe. So being able to buy 12ozs at a cheaper $ amount is a good option.
Never had hamburger helper, but it looks interesting and I might try something like that one day. But definitely with veg, I could never eat it without something green
Except the bulk food area your WinCo looks just like our Costco. That's how it's built. Our WinCo looks different than yours. I'm from Northern California.😊

Thanks Nanny! It's a meal from my childhood for sure. It was fun making it from scratch! I was surprised at how easy it was!
Homemade is so much better.. Thanks for sharing
It really is! Thanks Pink!
I started making my own helper and it’s definitely preferred over store bought with my kiddos and they are rather picky eaters
This is so helpful! My family loves hamburger helper. I’m definitely going to try homemade :)
Please let me know if you do!
Looks delicious. Would you consider doing a DIY Suddenly Salad some time with it getting warmer out?
Yes!! That's a great suggestion! Thank you!
You could use tomato powder, too. Knorr makes some or freeze dry tomatoes and make a powder.
Great idea! Thank you!
You can also add all kinds of vegetables I also sometimes put black beans into my hamburger helper the stretch it and make it healthier
Ooh corn and black bean sounds like a good combo
that's a great suggestion! Thank you!

Youre creating an answer to the current high cost of food. Thank you for showing us how to be frugal.
Glad it was helpful!
Many years ago with a 6"4" husband and 2 large boys I always added extra noodles to make it go farther
That's a great idea!!
You just gave me a really good idea because we have WinCo here in Texas so thank you so much
You are so welcome!
Great video!! I've never been in a Winco .... I like the bulk spice selection

Yes, it needs a veggie and some parsley!
Ever since covid , no bulk food in most NY stores ,
That makes sense. Ours was down for a long while.

Oh wow! I'd love to go into another Winco and see the difference!
@@mamabairds you can't see all the wires and pipes up above like you do at Costco (your WinCo). The ceiling looks different.
I freaking LOVE Winco. I just wish it was closer.
Watching now been under sever weather threats and tornadoes but safe I only make my own it's healthier
Oooh! Homestead Helper!
Oh I like that title!!
I love WinCo. Have several where I live.
The produce is pretty good too!
Hello my cooking mom
Hello 😊
The cat why books by Lilian Jackson Brawn
Plus homemade your reducing the additives that aren’t the best for you ❤
Great point!
yes when you have the time
Did you say ELK????
I did!
I was trying to tell you, you needed beef flavor in the homemade.
Well I heard ya!! Haha
Way too much salt in Hamburger Helper. We have to watch our sodium intake. Homemade is so much better.
Never liked hamburger helper
I don't blame ya!
