I do a tomato soup casserole with ground beef. A pound of ground beef browned in a pot. I add some onions and Italian seasoning then add a couple cans tomato soup and a can of corn (without the liquid) a couple cups water. Then I cook about a cup of elbow macaroni in the tomato beef mixture until done. Add salt and pepper if needed. It’s so easy and surprisingly delicious. I got the recipe years ago from a campbells cookbook. I like it with my grandmas crispy buttery cornbread on the side.

You are absolutely right when you say “if you see a recipe online, take it with a grain of salt“ adaptation in recipes is so important. People think that a recipe is absolute. Change it to your family’s preference and use it as a guideline. great advice!!! Another great video!!

Another winter fav at our house is called a shipwreck. Layer a casserole dish with sliced potatoes, onion, green peppers and 2 cans of ranch style beans. Press uncooked ground beef (the leaner the better) over the mixture (kinda looks like a meatloaf). Pour a medium can of tomato sauce and cook till potatoes are tender. I serve it with cornbread. Always a crowd pleaser

Meatloaf was my dad's contribution. He always formed it in a French leaf shape on a cookie sheet and covered the outside with cornmeal. It made a delicious crunchy coating

Sloppy Dogs are a favorite around here. Make sloppy joes as you like them then put it in a crockpot with some whole hot dogs and let them just hang out in there for awhile. Of course you serve them with fires and cheese!

My mom made sloppy rice. 3 cups Uncooked white rice with cooked ground beef. I bag frozen mixed veggies. 2 14oz cans diced tomatoes 1 big can( 30 oz) tomato sauce plus 1 can water mix all together & let cook until rice is done. There was 11 people in the house so adjust amounts to your family size. Salt, pepper, onions where all the seasonings she would use. Not dure of the can sizes as she used her own home canned tomatoes, sauce, & vegetables.

I make what we call, "Cowboy Soup". Ground beef with onion and garlic and whatever seasoning you like. Potatoes, carrots, corn, cabbage and a couple cans if diced tomatoes with a lg can of tomatoe sauce and water. Simmer for an hour 1/2. It's awesome with cornbread on a cold winter night.

Most chefs don't do what we do-scrap the cut foods off the board using the back, rather than the blade of the knife. This helps keep the blade from dulling as quickly.

On my meatloaf topping I went to covering it with BBQ sauce that has honey in it. We don’t just like full on ketchup but if I only have ketchup I mix with a 1/2 cup of brown sugar. It’s delicious.
Really good 👍 job, Carolina. I know you didn’t ask for this but I would love to do some Thia and Asian food cooking. I don’t know when to use Teriyaki sauce, sesame oil, red wine vinegar, soy sauce, you get the picture. If you have any I would love to learn how to use those things and have a guide explained by you. Thanks 🙏.

I use ketchup, ground mustard, brown sugar and a pinch of nutmeg on top of meatloaf.
My mom use to make hamberger-hotdogs brown gravy. It sounds crazy but so good over rice and low budget meat with salad or veggie.
One of my favorites is sloppy joes. One I made as a kid was rolled out biscuits add your beef, cheese fold over and bake you can dip in ketchup or mustard. Your kids might like this simple dish. Fun to get know ideas. Love stuffed cabbage rolls also.
