I've been pasting this channel and letting some of the channels I belong to know about Shawn's other channel as well. I think people should know about this channel to not only help Shawn, but to get the enjoyment we all do out of it. This is a good wholesome family type channel to watch an episode every week if not more. I did a few more today. Even a few large cooking shows as people that love to stay home and cook love this type of channel over tv anytime as I do.
@@Ray-cv6kgYou're right! I believe he will be over 1.1 mil. by the start of next winter. I love this type of channel more then my favorite as a child was Little House On The Prairie lol.
A comment from 2017 "One thing (among many) that makes your videos so good, is your true and honest nature. As your channel grows, stay true to yourself and I think this channel will become much more than a remote, homestead project channel, it will be a rallying place for people, that is much more than a simple RUclips channel." Still soooo true. God Bless.
I agree. We will go back to being more simpler and trying to live cheaper as folks are sick of the big scam of the material, corporate, commercialism forced down our throats (electric, cable, gas, food, etc). There is an awakening go in ng on right now with humanity and Shawn has a a big part in it (whether he knows it or not, whether he intended to or not?.
There is so much meaning behind that door--the stained glass that was a wedding present from your Grandfather--and the bark outer surface which will last. So beautiful, so well-crafted. A work of art. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Your videos are high quality viewing and entertainment. I am ashamed for previously ignoring them. I think you do a wonderful thing for others through your work with RUclips. I want to join the many in becoming part of your subscribers. Thank you for such pleasant respites.
You take it all in your stride Shawn, you produced a fabulous fish dinner while you were casually producing a beautiful work of art. No hesitation, 100% sure of every move and Cali is as engrossed in the activities as all us onlookers. It's good, sound stuff that this crazy world is happy to forget about, meh! Thank you Shawn for bringing it! 😁
I've been going camping for over 50 years and always made a campfire like you did early in this video by starting small and progressively putting larger and larger pieces on. My new favorite way of starting a fire is with a propane torch. It doesn't work when you're hiking out in the bush, but when you're near civilization and have a car it's great!
That is probably the SICKEST looking door I've ever seen! WOW! I can see that style door on those multi million dollar log cabin homes. patent that idea! Great job!
Loved seeing the curls of wood, my Dad was a very good carpenter, I used to take those curls and pretend it was my hair 😊 lovely memories of my dear father, gone thirty years now. He died at 64, so still fairly young... That door is a work of art! Love it, those touches show the heart of a man in tune with the beauty of nature and art 🙂
As per usual Shawn great video. I find myself at times making myself a bowl of popcorn with a cold brewsky sitting enjoying your channels. It surely beats the crap that's on tv nowadays. Thanks again bud.
OMG such a beautiful door, stained glass with ash bark, wow!!! Also the perfect stained glass windows pattern and colour for the woods. Classy or what!! Awesome meal as always you're a great cook too!
Shawn, that is an amazing door ! I called my wife from the other room to look at the bark on the outside, and the inlaid stained glass, and she said it was gorgeous ! Now that is going some !!! Thank-you for sharing this... Truly a masterpiece !!
Absolutely stunning finish to the door. And the unique roof-line of the outdoor kitchen. Such a pleasure to watch. Full of admiration for what you have achieved thus far. Kia Kaha from New Zealand.
I could watch you all day I am living my outside live through you as iam house bound because of a condition that is crushing my brain my movement is restricted the more I move the more pain iam in.thankyou
Possibly the coolest door I've seen since. When Frodo leaves his house Bag End it is referenced as 'the door where it began' (the song "The Road Goes Ever On") .....
there are three generations that watch this together, infront of a large computer screen, Enjoying the proccess as you are on your journey sharing your life. Thank you for sharing.
All I needed was a half a lemon to squeeze on that fish and I could feel my mouth watering. Ooooh. that looked good! We have a restaurant nearby that has a smokehouse just outside a cabin-like exterior with picnic tables and they are famous for their smoked mackerel or flounder served with hush puppies and warm German potato salad. They also make the best smoked fish spread and sell it by the pint or qt. Just driving by their smokehouse the smell makes you salivate🤭😁. It’s been around here and family owned since the 1950s. I don’t know if they still do it, but you used to be able to bring your fresh caught fish to them and they would smoke it for a few bucks. What kind of fish did you smoke? BTW, that stained glass window was gorgeous and was really shown off beautifully by the peeled bark. Great idea 💡
That door is a beautiful creation. Another fantastic job. I'm sure that's going to be beautiful when you're done with the sauna. That would be $200 worth of salmon where I'm from
Nothing more comforting to me than the smell of fresh wood shaving, will always remind me of my dad working...I could almost small it watching this video...looks great and the glass makes it sing!
Great Looking Door! I am sure you have been waiting for just the right project for the stained glass. Looks amazing, and all done while trout dinner is grillin'. Perfect!
That is AMAZING Shawn!! You are creating not only a functional home for your family, but a wonderland of creative artwork. Thank you for sharing your gift with us, truely.
"Why do you watch My Self Reliance videos", you ask? Because how many people do you know of that could/would build half of their entry door with a pocket knife! Shawn, your perseverance, and creativity never ceases to astound me. You are truly an inspiration my friend. Been a sub for quite some time now and must admit yours is still one of my fav channels out there. Thank you for all of your inspiration and the sharing of your knowledge.
You always have such a creative mind ... “I need a tool” ... so you made that “Y” for the grill .... then ... that fabulous door ! I love the rough natural bark paired with the stained glass window - STUNNING ! Your videos are always way too short, as I could watch them for hours, lol. Trying to think ... did you even talk other than to tell Cali to stay by the smoke? Darn, I guess I’ll have to watch it again to see 😉 Thank you, as always, for taking us along on this ride !
What an incredible door. Few people can appreciate the time that kind of craftsmanship takes to complete such a task. Done with manual tools none the less. Truly inspiring. Be well Shawn and thanks for sharing,
Mate - i've been catching up with your vids- still heaps to see. This is my 'chill' time viewing, as i find it relaxing to watch, and I can easily imagine a lot of us blokes could only dream of doing what you do. Kudos to you Shawn, you're a man of few words - but you definitely deliver the action with your bush-craft and your know-how. Action does speak louder than words. Thanks for sharing with us. Truly grateful to enjoy your presentations.
Wow! That door is beautiful. The rough bark and stained glass is a brilliant combination. Very clever idea. Excellent video, Shawn. Well done all the way around.
You did a lovely job on the sauna door The stained glass and bark finish make it classy and rustic at the same time I Love it.. So, um when can I move in...oh never mind it's not quite wheelchair accessible. I will just have to be contented with watching you have fun building your paradise. LOTS of love from Nova Scotia!
Fantastic as usual, the production values are so good and the photography top notch. Love the door, very unique and fitting considering where it's hung. With this type of entertainment available on RUclips, I cut the cord on cable a year ago and couldn't be happier. So thank you Shawn, for saving me a $100 per month on a cable bill and providing such great content. Cheers
Beautiful door and beautiful smoked fish! I love the contrast between the elegant, organic designs of the stained glass with the rough, natural texture of the ash bark.
