I just don’t understand how these women are so multi faceted in their craft . It’s the way they can make a monologue come just as easy as a conversation
You have to keep practicing the monologue and bring it to life. Keep going over the monologue. When you’re doing a monologue, the question you ask yourself is who are you talking to. Who are you speaking to?
As a black woman who was a victim of molestation by my step father and sexual assault by a friend I trusted, I couldn’t watch this movie for years. It was too triggering but now I’m finally facing my fears and watching it especially since I am now in therapy and I’m finally addressing my trauma.
Therapy was the best thing for you remember God understands and as long as you put your faith and trust in God he will protect and heal you my heart goes out to you hugs
I absolutely adore this scene... I brought you what joy I found, and I found joy! And then there’s that woman who hurt you.. who you left 3 or 4 times and AFTER you put my heart at the bottom of your shoe.. you just WALKED back to where you hurt. Wheewwwww!!! If that’s not a word!!! And then when he left and she cried for a second. Man listen... sometimes what’s best for SELF will hurt NOW but will free you eventually. I’ve been watching this scene for years!! And Loretta is one of my favs! 🖤
Ever since I realized, there was someone called a colored girl or an evil woman, a bitch or a nag I been trying not to be that and leave bitterness in somebody else’s cup. Come to somebody to love me without deep and nasty smelling scars from lye or being left screaming in a street of lunatics whispering, ‘Slut, bitch, bitch. Nigga, get out of here with all of that.’ I didn’t have any of that for you. I brought you what joy I found. And I found joy. And then there’s that woman who hurt you. And who you left three or four times. And then you went back after you put my heart in the bottom of your shoe. You just walked back to where you hurt and I didn’t have nothing. So I went to where somebody had something for me, but none of them were you. I got a real dead loving here for you now, ’cause I don’t know anymore how to avoid my own face wet with my tears because I had convinced myself that colored girls have no right to sorrow. I lived for you. I know I did it for myself, but I couldn’t stand it. I couldn’t stand being sorry and colored at the same time. It’s so redundant in the modern world.
You put feeling in every role you act and that I admire. Its challenging to force a person to feel even when there eyes is wide shut and they are hard of hearing. Still, you enable the audience and viewers the ability to feel and that there is a great gift you mastered over the years. kudos and congrats. 💋💋 from @NahorBrown and @ChrisBrown
Cant stomach Tyler perry but i love this book. This is Black womens message to Black men and all those we've been socialised to love and protect whilst they hate us. Its a new day
Congrats @LorettaDivine for the best poetic line in a movie featured film. I love you and please accept this message from @NahorBrown and @ChrisBrown as our gift and token for gratitude and appreciation for you and your brilliant acting skill and ability. 💋💋

Powerful scene for sure. "sometimes what’s best for SELF will hurt NOW but will free you eventually." If THAT'S not a word!!!
Yes heavy scene!!
Wow. Loretta is a hell of an actress. She gets the sass down pat, but yet can be so deep and honest and true.
you walked back to where you hurt! profound !
It's the way she say " walked backed".
Sistah Bethea She provided a respite from his misery without demanding he be someone who provided reciprocity. Too many women AND men both do that...
i remember my grandmother, her coworker, and my mother and i went to the movies to see this and at only 12 years old i felt and understood every scene
Alescia Lewis I went with my granny, mom and sister. It’s a beautiful story and acted out by supreme actresses and actors.
This scene took me out...way too close to home right now
The most "Powerful scene" in any movie History!! #period
The entire movie was powerful and sad at the same time 😢
She finally stopped lettin' him walk away with all her stuff...
One of the best actresses who doesn't get her due.
One of my favorite scenes
"I brought you what joy I found. "
Ms.Devine 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 she always delivers. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

When I read the book I cried and to watch it made me so angry and hurt.
I need to watch this again. Such a beautiful film.

That's a WORD sis! 💖
So True
You're that dumb to allow a Hollywood agenda in a movie to dictate how you feel about your own race.... Wow... Not the sharpest tool in the shed
"Like you've never seen it before." Love it
"...after you put my heart in the bottom of your shoe"
BEAUTIFUL WORDED SO POETICALLY!.. ....
i LOOOOVE this movie, and Loretta won my heart!!
"I went to where someone had something for ME!!, But none of THEM, were YOU"
In 2018 this is still relevant.
Congrats @LorettaDivine for the best poetic line in a movie featured film. I love you and please accept this message from @NahorBrown and @ChrisBrown as our gift and token for gratitude and appreciation for you and your brilliant acting skill and ability. 💋💋
It’s So Hard To Watch This Movie When You Can Relate 🥺🥺🥺
Loretta is one of the best !!!!
The magic of Ntozake Shange!!
Loretta Devine works that voice like a Stradivarius violin. How many chances does she get to play it with language like this? Not nearly enough.
I got a real dead loving here for you now cuz I don't know anymore how to avoid my own face wet with my tears😭😭😭
I couldn't stand being sorry and Colored at the same time.
LoRETTA! 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿❤️❤️😭
prayerfully one of these days I'll get the privilege in meeting you just like @ChrisBrown. You are one of my favorite actresses of all time @LorettaDivine.
