Loretta Devine should have so many Emmys! Between Grey's Anatomy, Being Mary Jane and this; my goodness! The writing is superb and I hope it helped some parents learn to co-parent and to stop intentionally hurting each other.
She spoke this so eloquently and passionately as only Ms Devine could.

I'm living this right now. My son is struggling with addiction. And while he's out there doing what he's doing, my granddaughter's mom works full time. During the summer I care for my granddaughter free of charge. That way it makes easier her mom to get ahead in life. I don't make excuses for my son and the choices he makes. But I will help with whatever I can. We have a great relationship! And on the other end, I am my son's support as he fights to stay clean!
