I was there from the beginning of her career. I first heard Everybody in late October 1982. Thought she was a black singer. I was hooked by Dec 1982 , Everybody was all over NYC radio station. I have seen all 10 concert tours, saw her in Speed The Plow in 1988, was there in Times Square for The Whos That Girl premiere, MTV news was there and filled me saying "I love her she's the greatest!" The 80's was the best era of her career. She was fresh and young. She was our Marilyn Monroe during the Whos That Girl premiere. When Desperately Seeking Susan premiered in 1985 I was one of the first to see her in the theater. I saw her at the Live Aid concert. I miss those days?
Me too, Proud to say I was able to watch her rise to fame. I was living in New York and she was everything. She was different than Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar or any other female singer of the time. She was in a class of her own.
This was before the Like a Virgin performance and she’s already making waves 😍 I wished I lived in flesh and blood during this era to have experience the craze

Fascinating to see this video of the early Madonna. It's obvious the self belief was there right from the start. I think this interview was done in 84 though, not 83, as she's talking about releasing Like a Virgin and that was the year it came out.
